awful... they only offer migraine head ache treatments. if you have any other neurological condition going on, they will not treat you nor refer you to another . Even if it is drastically affecting your quality of life and making you suffer. Really don't understand how people can just turn their backs on sick patients especially when they're so young. I saw a neuro about seizures, because one of my other specialists wanted me to get checked. The Dr seemed like he was annoyed just to even speak with me, he implied I was making things up, was dismissive of the referring doctors notes and of my questions, at times felt like he was mocking me, and took me in 25 minutes late. He did order the necessary imaging and scans, but the whole time he just made me feel stupid for even being there. I had to repeat myself multiple times, as it seemed like he was just ignoring what I said (based on his own questions and how he interacted with me). It was my first visit with this doctor, so maybe he was just having a bad day, but that's not an excuse to treat patients that way and it makes me nervous for my follow-up with him. read more

This office is the absolute worst I've ever dealt with. I'm helping my father who suffers from dementia and needed a neurologist. They have submitted paperwork after we asked them not too. They don't follow up on calls or requests. The doctor rushes through the appointments and writes contradicting appointment summaries. I do not recommend. read more

The staff was AMAZING!!! Very friendly. Listened when I answered their questions. They were very knowledgeable. And the Dr's personality was kind, caring and friendly as well. Zero Sense of Urgency. Despite being numb in most of my body, could not get appointment for two months, then they called to cancel it three days before because Dr. Brecher was going to be out! Thankfully, I'd already gone to NY, been sent for MRIs, diagnosed with MS, and given treatment plan. Skip the frustration and go directly to Yale New Haven (MS Access will see you within 48 hours), NY, or Boston. Rhode Island neurologists had zero sense of urgency, with appointments for a person clearly in crisis ranging from 2-6 months. Say no to NeuroHealth. read more

Great office. The staff is very friendly and helpful my Neurologist is great with me. I don't have to wait long to be seen. She keeps in touch with me with my medications. Follow up appointments. If I need an RX refill it's going to be taken care of right away. I totally recommend anyone that needs a neurologist. read more

I was referred to Dr. L'Europa for a nerve conduction study and EMG by Dr. Hubbard over at RI Hand & Orthopaedic Center. I arrived Friday about 25 minutes in advance to fill out paperwork & when finished, I was promptly brought into a cheerful, brightly lit examining/testing room. The RNP (who I THINK was Kathleen: I really, really wish I could recall her name!) was amazingly sweet and went over everything I should anticipate from both exams. Dr. L'Europa popped in briefly to quickly feel around my wrist before the RNP took over for the nerve conduction study. She was completely professional and caring while performing the procedure (which, I'll be honest, wasn't painful in the least. It felt like a TENS unit on super low) and had a great conversation with me to pass the time while doing so. Afterwards, the doctor came back in who then performed the oh-so-scary EMG. ....this test literally lasted all of two minutes and despite all the horror stories easily read online and by word of mouth, it was pain-free. The "worst" sensation were slight pricks where the needles were inserted however he was so fast and gentle it was over before I could sneeze. I 100% recommend Dr. L'Europa for those needing EMG/nerve testing. After having a brief conversation with him, as well as research online, I'm convinced that the individuals who were literally tortured during the testing, unfortunately were 'cared' for by inexperienced technicians or medical students instead of the actual doctor. It's also worth adding that their facilities are so pretty and welcoming! Much different than intimidating, white walled examination rooms. read more

I saw Dr. L'Europa very very briefly. His daughter Talia, an RNP, did most of the appointment. She is patient, answered all my questions thoroughly without using technical medical jargon. She made sure I understood everything and all my concerns were addressed. I was not rushed. The facility, the secretary, the billers, the providers...everything was great. Avoid this practice at all costs. Dr. Gary L'Europa is rude and actually left the premises before seeing me and had to be called back to office because he "Forgot" he had two more patients. He told me I had no nerve damage and subsequently he must have been in a rush because he never forwarded the results to my Neurosurgeon. Immediately after surgery my surgeon indicated that the nerve was indeed problematic, I've lost all feeling in my foot. After his blunder, Dr. L'Europa decided to sue me for a bill that his staff forgot to get a prior authorization. This practice is absolutely not competent and should be shut down. read more

This has been the first time going to Dr. Garry L"Europa and I think he's ok but not that great, I thought the receptionist was very polite, I find the nurse ok she wasn't that great either. I wished that the nurse or Dr. L"Europa would of told me that my medical doesn't pay for heade ache free vitamins, I'm not a mind reader and it cost $23.00 so unfortunately I can't afford them as money is so tight. Dr. L'europa is an excellent doctor. He was the only doctor (after seeking help from several top RI neurologists) to properly identify, diagnose and treat an extremely painful condition I have - Pseudo Tumor Cerebri. Once diagnosed, we began treatment. He saved my life. I was at my pain tolerance limit and couldn't bear any more. Thankfully the treatment is working and I'm now able to function. The care I receive clinically was adequate, but not great. The problem is the front office, billing and management staff. As someone who works in the health care industry myself I can truly say that I am disgusted with the way they treat patients. I have been a patient with my doctor for nearly a year, but he only recently joined their group. I waited over 6 weeks for an appointment, took time off work, showed up on time and had to wait for 2 1/2 hrs to be seen. By the time the doctor saw me I could only stay for 5 minutes as I had no choice but to go pick my child up from daycare. Today (next appointment) I again, took time off work and arrived on time to be told I would be waiting for at least 45 minutes. As I live near by I asked if I could leave and come back, but I was told it is "office policy" not to allow patients to leave and return. I pointed out that if a patient doesn't return they charge a no show fee, so why should I have to suffer? The only option I was given was to book another appointment a month from now... Besides these wait time issues I have found the front desk staff to be rude and condescending. The billing staff is no better and I was practically treated like a criminal over $20 balance, even though there was a detailed note in my account regarding the balance. It is not OK to treat patients this way and it makes them appear to only care about insurance money, I have not seen any actual care come from the office staff at any time. read more

It took me 20 years to switch neurologists and i am regretting every minute of it. I have many many health conditions including neurofybromytosis, fibromyalgia i suffer from diabetic neuropathy, seizures and severe dizzy spells and migraines. I have seen Dr. Zayes 3 or 4 times and each time i am rushed and he doesnt listen to me or try to get to know me. At the first visit i waited an hour and a half the doctor said he didn't know i was there this was even after me approaching the secretary at the front desk. Poor staff communication. He thought he had seen me before it was my first time, i don't think he even read my lengthy past history. He didn't seem to listen to a word i said until finally i yelled at him at last visit to listen to me! His office staff has no clue about acquiring authorizations for procedures or medications. Been waiting weeks now for them to get prior authorization for a medication. Then he wants me to go back in because he didn't document his office notes correctly. Again not listening to your patient. I was a medical assistant for 12 years and it was my job to know what was needed for prior authorizations. I'm not sure he even takes office notes. Another thing he does is leaves the country on vacation for weeks at a time and you are not able to fill your medications he prescribed because he is away. No other doctor in the practice will cover for him. So i have to go back to my primary care physician to fill my prescription until he returns from out of the country and has the nerve to call me a drug seeker. What is wrong with this office nothing is correct on my records no one knows the proper procedures for authorizations and they have poor communication between office staff medical staff and doctors. I want out but hate to have to start all over again! This doctor and office is a nightmare! Stay away! read more

When I originally went to Neurohealth several years ago, I received the best care. I saw Dr. L'europa and Kathleen. They helped me deal with my post concussion syndrome and were there for me when my migraines went out of control. Most recently I became pregnant and my migraines went back out of control. My OB told me to call the neurologist. I was able to set up an appointment that was several months away, that appointment was than canceled and rescheduled twice. I than received a phone call from a nurse named "Sandy" the day before my appointment looking for a physician referral. When she was notified that I was referred by an OB and that I was pregnant, she instantly canceled the appointment that I had been waiting for 3 months for, telling me that the doctors don't see pregnant patients. Later I received a call back from her saying Dr. Brecher would see me. He was a very nice doctor who reassured me that they see pregnant patients. Later I had to call the office back for a prescription change due to the medication being a class C. Once again I received a call back from Sandy who once again stressed to me that they don't see pregnant patients and that they couldn't help me. In my opinion their nurse Sandy doesn't want to see pregnant patients or hear from them. It was sad that I had to leave neurohealth to go else where. I have never had a problem with the doctors or nurse practitioners but nurse Sandy needs to find a new profession. read more

Dr. L'Europa is a kind, compassionate man and a consummate professional. He listened to me when I presented with a terrible cluster headache. The good doctor treated me with medication that actually worked! My quality of life has greatly improved under Dr. L'Europa's care. I would absolutely recommend this practice. I'll start off by saying that I did not have any issues with the Doctors of the treatment I received while being a patient with Neurohealth. My problems were primarily with billing and the disingenuous information provided to me PRIOR to scheduling appointments with the PT division. I was informed that my secondary insurance would cover the cost of each co-pay for my visits and confirmed this on three separate occasions prior to agreeing to treatment, to ensure that this was an affordable option for me. A month later I received a rather lengthy bill complied of copay's that were "supposedly" covered by my medical insurance. Confused by this, I dialed up the billing department and was made aware that I am responsible for a deductible that was not covered by my secondary insurance. My gripe is the secretary offered to take my insurance information and confirm that my coverage would take care of the copay's. I confirmed this with her via numerous phone calls and even once in the office. I was then scheduled an abundance of appointments, and slapped with a hefty bill later on. Also, the billing department was unwilling to work with me or investigate the case and is now holding me responsible for the entire balance. My suggestion is to find another practice that treats you as a patient and not a checkbook walking in the door. If you do choose Neurohealth, be sure to talk directly with your insurance company prior to receiving treatment and don't rely on their employees information as they have little concern for anything other than whats in your wallet. read more
