The entire experience was awesome. I bought this experience for my wife's birthday. I selected the items we were to make and scheduled the appointment. They have different specials throughout the year, so you pick. I chose the flower and vase. The flower uses a pulling of the glass and the vase you blow the glass. Our teacher was awesome. Very patient, very knowledgeable and saved my wife's vase from disaster (I got a bit over zealous on the blowing part). After we finished, they explained the cool down process (it takes about a week) and we scheduled our pickup time. The whole experience, for both of us, wasn't that expensive and we had a great time. We had a great time making glass pumpkins at Neusole! We saw their mobile hotshop at the Hamilton Pumpkin Festival and thought that would be a fun birthday activity for me, my husband, our adult daughter, and her boyfriend. We got to choose our colors, then worked in pairs to make 4 pumpkins. Our instructor was fantastic and explained each step, giving us help as needed. We had so much fun taking this class! There were 7 of us and when I called to schedule, I chose to make suncatchers. During the first part of the class, Joe and Allison did a demonstration and walked us through all of the steps. It was very educational! Allison ended up making a beautiful scalloped bowl. Then we paired up and each got to choose a color and pattern for our suncatcher. Joe and Allison did all the firing and shaping, and we got to turn the rod, use these big tweezer looking things called Jacks, and use a foot pump to put air into the glass (no blowing anymore due to Covid). When you finish with your piece, they woosh it away and put it in a 900 degree cool down oven. You then go back in a week to pick up your creation. We all wore a t-shirt underneath our tops because it gets rather hot in the firing area. The class took us about 1 1/2 hours. There is a cute showroom with items to purchase and we brought our own water bottles. I highly recommend this activity. It was so worth the cost and Joe and Allison were fantastic. read more

Went for Mother's Day for a different experience. It was so much fun but definitely HOT!

We did the "Snowman in Flameworking" class through Neusole as a Christmas gift and it was so worth it! We worked with John who was so friendly and fun to work with. He was clearly very knowledgeable and had our safety in mind the whole time. We were the only two in the class so it really felt like a personal lesson. The class was reasonably priced and you are supplied with all the equipment you need. After the class, your glass is left to cool and you can pick it up in 7 days. They also have a really awesome shop where you can purchase other hand made glass objects. Neusole is an amazing place and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new and unique date night out! read more

My wife and I had watched artists working with glass before and were always amazed by how beautiful it was. I came across their website and thought it sounded like fun. It was so much better than we imagined. We had an absolute blast. Eric was a fantastic teacher. It sounded complicated as he did a thorough job of explaining what we would be doing. Eric assured us it sounded a lot harder than it actually was. He was so right. With Eric's guidance , we got to roll the molten glass, blow the glass, and use various tools to shape the pumpkins. This is a really neat experience. I took my husband here as a treat to help him celebrate a milestone he reached and he loved it! I made a glass blown bowl and he made a vase. The staff was very thorough and patient and made us feel very safe and we gained a whole new appreciation for the incredible amount of work that goes into glass products. Highly recommend this one-of-a-kind experience! Pro Tip: Because they use extreme levels of heat the workshop is HOT! I had such a great experience here! The service was incredibly good in this place. My friend and I made the reservation online in February when the snowstorm happened. My friend was flying from NYC and her flight was cancelled in the last minute. I was worrying about my reservation because it was too late to cancel it without penalty. I called them on the day we were supposed to go and explained the situation, they were very nice and reschedule my appointment. We made two bowls. They made the process easy but fun, and the bowls turned out very pretty. The only thing which is not so perfect is that you have to go back to pick up your bowl. The store location is kinda far outside of the city so it is not so convenient. read more

Neusole Glassworks is a small, non-profit glassworks company located in Forest Park, Ohio (right off of I-275). My boyfriend and I visited as a portion of Macy's ArtsWave Sampler Weekend. We had both visited glasswork companies during our travels abroad and decided it was time to see the amazing artistry we have in our own backyard! Walking in, you immediately step into a glass wonderland: Neusole's glass artists have filled shelves and shelves with custom-made works. They also have a small area with a few unique creations on display. We proceeded to the back 'hot shop' where two workers were putting a few pieces together. They would take their time mending and reheating the glass until it was perfect, working patiently and slowly to get the piece there. For the Sampler Weekend, we were able to make glass flowers (or a sun catcher) at a reduced cost. I ended up working on the flower, which was so much fun! John Carter, the instructor, showed us the steps as to how each flower is made: from grabbing the clear glass to melting the color to forming the flower with just a pair of pliers. John was super informative, explaining the methodology behind each step and practice. Finally, it was my turn. Using the pliers, John and I formed the glass petals and stem together. Even though the glass was hot and soft, it was still extremely hard to pull and pinch to form the flower design (our first attempt did not work out at all), but John was patient and helped to make sure I ended up with a great final product. Overall, this place was super cool to visit. The staff was friendly and looked forward to sharing their passion with the guests that day. A few other people arrived while I was working, and they all looked equally excited to take part in the day's events. If you want to try something new to explore your creative side, I highly recommend visiting Neusole Glassworks! read more

This place rocks! First off, the studio is very nice; well maintained and clean. The staff is super friendly and knowledgable. Take a class! Get a group of friends and/or family and schedule a private glass blowing class. Just to be able to see the demonstrations is worth the money! The glass blowing class is unlike most others. You get to be hands on, using the tools and blowing the glass. Don't be intimidated though; they are literally holding your hand through the whole process. You get to take home what you make; after its had a few days to cool down. Just this past weekend, the facility did an anniversary auction event, where all proceeds went to charity. They provided beer, wine, soda, and food. There was a jazz singer for entrainment, live demonstrations and auctions. I'm really hoping this do this again! It was really cool! Word of advice, keep an eye out for Groupon deals. If you see one, jump all over it! read more

Had a great mother/daughter day at Neusole making floppy bowls. Overall it was a positive experience with a few asterisks. This is my third glassblowing experience but first time at this studio. I live in Nashville, TN, and had been at a smaller studio.l in the past. Our instructor at Neusole, Allison, was very nice, knew what she was doing, answered all of our questions, and seemed to want to help us have a great end product. Operations was pretty clean, especially considering it's a glass blowing shop, and I thought overall the place seemed well run. I even bought a necklace on my way out. My suggestions to the business are: 1. the customer should be a little bit more involved in the end product besides some very simple "guided" shaping and a couple of opportunities to blow the glass while someone else was managing the outcome. My previous experiences with glassblowing were quite a bit more involved even though the end product may not have been quite as pretty because I had more control. I believe that we spent more time watching a glassblowing demonstration than actually getting to work hands on with our end product. In those previous cases I felt more excited to have the opportunity to be part of the overall process, not just a couple of segments of it like at Neusole. I also don't understand the policy of only allowing the customer to pick one single color for their product. Again, comparing it to my previous experiences where I have been able to pick two colors, I feel that I would've been able to better personalize my item. read more

This was my first time at Neusole Glassworks. A friend and I took a hot shop class. I've never had much interest in glass, but this class was so interesting and fun. Allison was a great instructor. She explained the science behind glasswork and we had lots of hands on time making floppy bowls. The workshop is setup for visitors to see and participate and the showroom has a variety of beautiful glass art. Love going to Neusole! My family, friends, and I have gone many times to both their former location and their new (and larger) location in Forest Park. You can learn so much about the art of glass through fusing projects, hotshop projects, and flamework such as bead making. Ask for JOHN if you want to sign up for a FLAMEWORKING class! My sister and I have had a few classes with him now. Each time he'll work with us by building on the knowledge and skills we already have, giving us tips, correcting our bad habits. After taking multiple classes with Neusole, I am SO impressed with all that they have to offer! My husband & I started taking classes with them in their old Walnut Hills location. Although it was a little shady to get into their old studio, everything inside was amazing! After visiting their new location- I was totally blown away! In an industrial part of town- it feels much safer approaching at night (when I've usually taken their classes). Walking in, you walk directly into their store and are surrounded by cool art! Going back a bit further in the building takes you into the hot shop. The instructors they have are practicing artists, there to guide you and make sure that what you make is a legit, cool piece... while allowing you to be the one to make it. Our first class was for floppy bowls. After telling our instructor, Steve, we'd never worked with glass before- he took good care of us. He explained every step we were going to go through- then staying beside us as we made the bowl. We were so impressed with his teaching, and our bowls, we took my in-laws back as a gift, to make Christmas ornaments or Candy Canes. Again- we were all thrilled with the results of our class. It was such a cool experience and we were so happy to share this with others! Hubby and I went back and did a glass fusion class. We had a two-hour window, and we realized we could have spent many more hours playing with our artwork. Loved our products again (although I was pretty jealous of what he did!). I took a class in how to make glass beads- which was interesting, but not something I've decided to pursue since then. I did not feel as successful in this avenue as in the other classes. Recently- we went and made glass pumpkins. After Logan, our instructor in this class, talked to us and went through all the steps, verbally, he showed us what we would be doing and what was expected of us. After realizing that we had done this a few times and were not going to do anything to hurt ourselves (as we had learned what was totally unacceptable)- he gave us a lot more autonomy than we'd had before- while still being there and guiding us when we needed it. Again- we are SO happy with our finished results!!! This business is so cool! When I tell people about the classes, or show them what we've made- they are so impressed with us. The fact is: it's not us... the instructors work with you to make your experience wonderful. I plan on going back many more times and recommend it to everyone! read more

My wife, daughter and I arrived for a scheduled class on glass blowing and the creation of floppy bowls (the last class of the evening). Upon arrival we realized that I had put the wrong date on my calendar and we were actually scheduled for the next week. We were told that they were booked and were not able to accommodate us after driving all the way there. However, Adam stepped in and said he would stay over and take care of us. He did a great job and he made the entire activity great fun as we learned how to color, shape and interact with molten glass. Cool stuff and got our interest up in doing more classes here. What an awesome class! My mom and I had a wonderful time. The instructor, John, was extremely patient and knowledgeable. It was a one on one lesson and he gave us just enough room to create our own unique shape but enough supervision to ease our anxiety about being first timers. He showed us his own artwork and also told us about one of the best glass blowers (Martin Janecky) and the history of glassblowing. I'm really irritated with this place. I don't know if it is the instructor to blame, or the facility itself. I am an experienced glass blower, but I've never gathered glass (mostly bc i've never wanted to, not that I can't do it), and since I hadn't gathered the glass before I wasn't allowed to do most anything with the piece "I" made. The instructor did all of the fun parts, while I sat and watched him roll out and shape MY piece. I got to put the color on and make the neck, and open the hole for the bowl. I did not get to heat it up, shape it, or twirl it to make the floppy part. The entire time I was irritated, bc I felt like i was being treated like a 6 year old, when I have been taking a lot of classes for over the last 6 months, and making more difficult pieces than a floppy bowl.... all bc I had not gathered before??? I think I'll go back for a second run with a different instructor who may have more faith in me, assuming it was the instructor and not the rules of the place. However, If i have to sit there and just roll the glass on the pipe while someone else basically creates the piece for me, I'm totally out and going to a different place. read more

I had a groupon coupon which helped with the pain as this place is very expensive. I still paid $70 to make a wind chime. This was the worst class ever. The young "instructor" took the 5 of us to a room and said you can start now. None of us had worked with glass and we had no idea what to do and told him that. Then he says you just pick out colors and powders. Great! Then what? He truly had no clue how to teach, zero people skills, but was very quick to brag about his education. We muddled through on our own while he did his own thing. Our pieces were not bad after firing. But they could have been great had we had someone actually interested in sharing their passion and willing to explain what we were supposed to do with broken glass and powders. The class was advertised as two hours. Since we did not know what to do, I think 30 minutes tops about did it. We stayed two hours just because ... None of us us will ever take a class here again. read more
