Just spent the better part of two days speaking to Summerlin Hospital (who sent my Dad to Rehab)…read moreand Humana (his Insurance Co) Carla the Chief Social Worker @ Summerlin was disgusted after receiving my letter (I cc'd her on Humana's) According to the Doctor's orders from Summerlin, my Dad was to receive: - 1 Hr daily Physical Therapy - 1 Hr daily Occupational Therapy (in 2.5 days he received 45 mins TOTAL) Upon release (we did have him released earlier due to lack of PT/OT & a med mistake that left him zombie like for hours) - a wheelchair - a walker - commode Guess what he received? None of the above. Guess what Humana was billed for? ALL OF THE ABOVE! As previously stated, most patients appeared to be nursing home type/not mobile & to have no visitors. So, basically, they are dumped there and left with no care from Kindred. Humana is investigating & Carla @ Summerlin had assured us that if he requires future inpatient Rehab, it will NOT be @ Kindred. This is now beyond malpractice and is Insurance Fraud. Just happy that we are here to advocate for Dad and cannot emphasize enough what a shameful "healthcare" facility this is. To be continued...

They helped me in so many ways, even just having an open conversation when you're feeling lonely. Thank you for always keeping me comfortable when I wasn't feeling my best. I just loved everyone so much. All the staff Kathy, Brian,Christian,Kierra, and Latoya helped me w all our one on one talks either on our outings or when I couldn't sleep. You get a professional chef, Jen! She makes so many special goodies, and her presentation makes you feel like you're in a 5-star hotel. Carolina, with the help of all these other beautiful souls, saved my life. My counseling sessions made me love me, and now I know how to deal w things in my life instead of laughing everything off and thinking it's no big deal. We had art therapy and music therapy, which was my fav, yoga, fitness class, speakers, Dr. B who specializes in the brain and addiction, option to go to church, and all kinds of fun outings. Like the river, karaoke, farmers mrkt, and or just Walmart. The home itself is beautiful they only have 10ppl at a time, so you get the care you deserve, unlike a lot of other places. My room had a large walk-in shower and jacuzzi bath. Wrap around balcony, and they have a pool, basketball hoop, pool table, horseshoe, and cornhole. Thank you to the Dr's, too. I love all you beautiful ppl so much. I will stay the way I left, not just for myself and my family but for all of you too.

I arrived at Desert Winds from a rural place in Colorado physically, mentally, emotionally, and…read morespiritually broken- little hope. This place provided me with the tools to rebuild. The staff was kind, caring, and extremely helpful. I was provided with a great amount of education on trauma and how it impacts substance use, the parts of the brain that are impacted by trauma and substance use, anger, depression, emotion regulation, mindfulness, and how to communicate assertively. What really makes this place great is that there are no more than 10 clients, and it is more personalized with more one-on-one counseling and in-depth process groups. Lastly, the food is amazing. Both chefs put a lot of love and effort in preparing healthy meals and snacks. This has been the most effective treatment program that I have been through, and I highly recommend it to others. I am going on 6 months of sobriety as write this review.
