There is a bit of a wait but that's because they're making each item to order, I don't mind waiting. The actual ice cream is SO good, great variety of flavors and very authentic. It's a walk in walk out shop, any of the bad reviews are comparing this place to instagram places that put more effort into aesthetics over actual product. Ordered 2 raspados guayaba and piña and they taste like the syrup is days old it was so disgusting almost threw up I had to throw it away , the churro was hard like if days old and they just keep it warm , the girl who I was ordering with gave attitude when I asked if the churro had any filling and rolled her eyes, when she handed me the drinks didn't say anything to me just help the raspados in her hands without even saying they're mine or which one was which I had to try them to figure it out. Stopped by here with my husband for some ice cream because my friend claimed it's one of the best (particularly the coconut one because it has actual chunks of coconut). My husband and I ordered three different flavors of their ice cream in a single cup. We found the ice cream consistency to be different than the usual supermarket kinds. The ice cream was sweeter and stickier, almost like it was made with a condensed milk base. The ice cream didn't surprise or "wow" us. Instead, we regretted not going for a paleta, since we really enjoyed those during our past trips to Mexico and it probably would have been a lot less sweet. Worst customer service ever! The lady with the glasses is super rude and also overcharged me. I just wanted a bag of potato chips and she charged almost $10 the same as the "papas locas" for some plane and simple potato chips. I told her I only wanted sauce and lime and she thought I said salt and lime which I specifically repeated 5 times. The chips weren't eatable since they had so much salt. Located directly across Gilroy's Caltrain station is Neveria Alaska. It's a small paleteria that serves Mexican sweets and snacks. There is plenty of street parking and heck, if you're coming off Caltrain, you'll just have to walk across the street haha. Their signage is pretty small but luckily they have beautiful decor out front so it will be hard to miss. The interior is really clean and smells so sweet. Everything looked so fresh behind the counter. The fruits were organized, the ice cream behind the glass looked so clean and nicely packed, and the floors just sparking clean. From paletas, tostilocos, mangonadas, duros, and much more, you really have to think about what to order because there is just so many options. My sisters bf took us here because he raved about their mangonadas so I just had to order one. He was right! The mangonada tasted so fresh - The ice cream, mangos, and all the spices on top just made me drool while eating it (I didn't think that was even possible lol). Also picked up a bag of duros and they had a nice crunch to it. They didn't skimp on the tapatio and limon too haha! Everyone around me ordered smoothies, so that probably is a hit here too. Very disappointed with this place. We ordered mangoneadas and mangoneadas with tamarindo ice cream. The mango was soggy, Beth ripe and with a few dark spots. While eating the tamarind Ice cream in one of those bites I found something that looked like jelly. While there the lady at the counter was really rude. I asked for five mangoneadas and only gave me and rung me up for four. When I told her I was missing one she started talking back to me saying that she was only rung me up for four and showing me the receipt in a rude way like if I didn't believe her. Raspado was bitter, employee didn't believe me so they grabbed a spoon to taste it. She believed me afterwards went to the back to make me a new one and didn't return so we just left. Best ice cream in Gilroy! I can finally buy myself an ice cream cone in our hot summers! (I refuse to go to Baskin Robins - so disgusting!!) This place is so cute, clean and has good service. Yummy!!!! We ordered tostilocos , Limon paleta, and coconut. The ice cream bars were delicious and fresh. Limon was is my absolute favorite on a hot day( the lime is just so refreshing). The tostiloco plate was so filling and each bite was mouthwatering. They give you a generous amount of cucumber, jicama and cueritos. I always choose to hold off on the nuts but totally up to you...I do appreciate the cueritos were nice and soft just how momma likes em. I first saw this place driving up and down Monterey but finally decided to check it out after reading an article about it in the Gilroy newspaper. This is nothing like your typical Baskin Robbins since they have a lot of different kinds of ice cream flavors with fruits that I have never even heard of. We ended up ordering a "pina loca" because thats what the newspaper suggested and it was pretty good. It came with fresh pineapple, cucumbers and hicama, all covered in some spicy sauce. If you don't like spicy, you probably wouldn't like this. My only complaint would be that I wish the menu items came with descriptions in English since there were so many interesting menu items but I had no clue what they were since I can't read Spanish. read more

I will definitely be returning to try their other items. On Yelp it says they close at 9pm, but when I came in I was told they were closing in 20 minutes which would be 8pm. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED... -I'm not from gilroy.... After spending a day with my friend and our kids at gilroy gardens we decided to get to know the city. We ended trying out the Perrico taqueria (they need to get some pointers in customer service from them), and since we had promised ours kids we decided to keep walking through the downtown in search of some kind of ice cream. We found Neveria Alaska, and my 4year old starts dancing... Like when your child really has to go the bathroom REALLY bad... N I asked the lady if he could use the bathroom n she said yes... Then the other lady comes out and says "no... That he had to wait because the bathroom was wet and she had just cleaned it.. So he had to wait till it was dry".. And I looked her and I was like "he's dancing he no longer can't wait" ... She was like go next door... So me in a rush... Not knowing what to do... I go next door to the haircut place and she was like no you can't use the bathroom, they have a bathroom.. So I walked back to the ice cream place and said there not letting my son use the restroom.. And she was like "well I don't even care if it's an old lady that has to use the restroom... She would still have to wait till its dry "... I was like "fine then.. Here your ice cream give me my money back".. And she refused to give me my money back.. And I was like "fine then give me the owners number I need to speak to someone else".. And she kept refusing and I told her" I would call the cops"..And she was like "call the cops.. We're not giving ur money back" and her and the other lady went to go hide.... ..... Like seriously? Why would you say yes he can use the restroom... And then say no? If the bathroom is wet and if my son makes a mess... I would clean it for you..... My son is 4! He's still learning how to control his bladder... When they have to go.. They have to go..... And if I didn't even eat ur ice cream just give me my money back.. I could gone and paid to get a stupid haircut just for my son to use the restroom..... FYI- my friend took my son outside... And he had to pee next to a garbage can... In public... We love this place. We've been in twice over the weekend and will be back and become regulars. Between the 4 of us we've tried several flavors and they're all excellent. Super creamy ice cream really really good! I love the Popsicles. My son loves the cookies and cream and chocolate ice creams. It's also super cheap, compared to other places. For 2 small ice creams and one Popsicle it was $8. Sign me up! I also love that it's not a chain and we can support local peeps :) And to the morons that gave them a bad review for not refunding because you didn't like the flavor!? THEY HAVE SAMPLES!! Duh. I came here with my sister one boring cold night to get some tostielote. I ended up getting a tostielote, tamales and two scoops of Mamey ice cream. The serving size of ice cream is enormous. The tostielote probably the biggest I ever had. The complaints of the elote being canned are true but not a negative. If it's winter, most likely it will be canned corn your getting.
