In these pretty crazy days of hiring contractors and people to do services beyond your abilities and them being the most unresponsive and unreliable people on the planet, Sal /New Amsterdam Glassworks is a LIFESAVER. We're about to put our house on the market and it's been like pulling teeth to get anyone to come out and do work (electricians, plumbers, roofers-- forget it). We have an odd sized kitchen window that somehow got a crack in it and let's face it, not a good look. We called a bunch of local glass places and couldn't get anyone to commit and then found Sal who came out immediately to give us an estimate. He was booked up for a few weeks but because he had a cancellation, was able to fit us in ahead of our photo day and open house! He and his assistant came and replaced the window in less than an hour. The best part was that the price was 50 dollars less than the estimate. How cool is that? 100% recommend. read more

Sal is excellent!. He is professional and takes pride in his work. We had a contractor start a project and did not finish it because he could not find a glass company that could make a difficult angle work in a small shower. Sal came to my home to measure, deliver and install quality glass window-shelves in a matter of days. I initially called a a few other places who said I would have to physically come into the shop and leave a deposit just to place an order - but that just wasn't feasible with my work schedule. The window in our front door was broken in the night and we were exposed. The door is over 100 years old and was just restored. New Amsterdam was recommended and I got in touch with them the next morning. Their crew immediately came out and looked at the door and what needed to be replaced. Due to the age of the door, they needed to carefully assess the work. They contacted me and give me 2 different options both of which would be completed the same day. I gave them direction based on the options and after lunch they came back and completed the work. Once completed the foreman called me and then sent me pictures (I was at work) of the completed work both inside and out. I feel that they gave me a very fair price, did extremely great work and most importantly were able to fit my urgent work in on a Monday.
