When I need new tennis shoes aka walking shoes, I always shop at New Balance. I've found a pair that works for me and I just keep repeating the same purchase. I guess I am a creature of habit. I like that they keep my record of purchases in the computer. So when it time to buy a new pair of shoes, I just enter the store and tell them my name. They look at my past purchases and it's an easy sale for the associate. Even though it a super easy sale, the sales associate is still professional and friendly. They have me try the shoes on, to make sure I am still satisfied with the fit. In addition to the pair of shoes, I always add a pair of therapeutic cushion inserts. It adds to the cost of shoes, but the comfort it adds to my wide feet, is well worth the extra dollars. When I get a new pair of tennis shoes, the old one still have life and become my garden/yard working shoes. New Balance shoes have a good life span. A bonus about shopping here, you can buy dog treats to support a local rescue group at the check-out. For the dog cookies, you have to pay cash as it is treated as a separate transaction. When I see dog cookies for a rescue group, I am a sucker and always make a purchase. Next time I need a new pair, I'll be back. I'm a true fan of New Balance. read more

I got to the store at I64 and Big Bend on a Saturday at 1 PM. I typically got nearly 1,000,000 steps out of a pair of walking shoes. This pair is typical. The store sales person was great. Because they carry a large inventory he got me a new pair in 15 minutes. They fit perfectly and the fit great. I have worn only New Balance shoes for at least 10 years and they are great. I truly do not understand how new balance brand can afford to keep the new balance stores open in St. Louis. Never once have I came here and had a good experience. I have been calling them all week and they don't seem to like answering the phone. I live New balance I can't stand the stores or who ever is in charge of running them. As a matter of fact I like the brand so much that i will offer myself to run the stores. This is an update from my 2011 review, the staff is still great here, very patient and willing to spend as much time with you as you need and my major issue in the past of limited inventory seems much improved. I'm still buying NB shoes and getting good results in terms of "foot health". Not inexpensive but many of their shoes are American made and I'm willing to pay more for USA made shoes personally. read more

I have been a Nike Peagus shoe wear-er my whole life up until December of 2021 where I made the switch to New Balance Fresh Foam 1080v11; I had a great experience with those shoes and when it came time to replace them on Father's Day, I opted to go to the 1080v12; essentially the same shoe just a newer model. Within a month, the sole started to deteriorate and my training regimen did not change at all. So I took them back, they exchanged them for the same shoe and despite the store manager making gaslighting and condescending comments about how its my fault that the shoe did that, I took the exchange. I got my new pair of 1080v12's last Tuesday afternoon. I did my normal workout routine on Wednesday and Thursday and after my workout on Thursday, I noticed the same issue with the shoes. So I took them back today (I admit I should've taken them back last week but I was very frustrated so I wanted to make sure I was in the right head space to deal with this in a professional manner) the sales associate quickly got her manager involved who was standoffish (just like last week) and again condescending per usual. They wanted to find a new shoe for me and I've tried on other new balances before and determined with the help of a professional that the 1080's were the best fit for me so I wanted to stick with those. So ultimately we decided to have last years model shipped to me, which is fine and all but it was somehow the same cost of the newest model which didnt make any sense to me at all as typically the previous years models are marked down at least a little bit (not the bs $10 that was offered to me). My issue here is that this New Balance Franchise location won't stand by their product and work to come up with a resolution that is satisfactory for all parties. I simply want to pay what I get for, I don't want anything free, or anything extra, I just want to get what I paid for and I have not received that in store in addition to the glaring lack of professionalism that was displayed. I try and do my best to support local businesses and this is the level of professionalism that I am met with. I had to order shoes because they never carry the shoes I need. I wear their mules/slide on/ slip on (they are always changing what they call them) tennis shoes due to bad heel spurs. So I ordered my shoes on a Saturday in store and said 4-6 business days they should be in and they would call me. 8 business days later I called to see if they got them yet. They said they called me and left a message they were in on business day 4. I NEVER got a call or message. I went in to get them and they were to big so I asked to see if they could order me a smaller size and ship them to me. The woman who had no name tag on but said it would cost me $10 to ship them. I questioned that since I never received a phone call they were in and she went to talk to the manager. He came out (actually assistant manager) and said he remembered ordering them (he was the one that helped me on my original visit). He said it would cost $16 for him to ship to me not what it would cost me for them to be shipped to me. I told him I never got a call or message and he told me it was noted they called and left message but told me in a bothered tone it wouldn't say I was called and left message it it wasn't done. I asked for a refund and left. He seemed to be bothered by me on both visits and I was the only customer both visits. After I left I looked online to see the price of shipping to me was free for 2-5 day shipping. So I called and asked why I was told $10, $16 and online said free. If you have to order them online from store it should be online price. He said they offer different deals. I told him I care about the price they would charge me not what he is charged. And he said he was sorry he gave me to much information. When I called corporate the message says they want customer satisfaction. We'll that was not true at that store. He also didn't seem to care at all about losing a sale or customer. You would think that they would try to keep customers as stores are closing. read more

I needed a new pair of gym shoes, and have heard for years that New Balance offers services to better fit you for a pair of shoes. So off I went. At first, I felt out of place. Similar to walking into an Apple store with an Android phone, everyone in the NB store already was wearing NB shoes. Wearing in my old Adidas felt awkward. I was quickly greeted by Nate, a sales associate. He was awesome. He took foot measurements, a scan of my foot to identify pressure points, and asked a bunch of questions on my activities. The shoe he recommended for me was a cross-trainer. It reminded me of something that my grandpa would wear. Big, clunky, & white. I gave him the luxury of trying it on... and it felt really good... until I looked down or saw myself in the mirror. I had to get those things off as fast as possible. I knew it was probably the right shoe for fit... but it offered no aesthetic value at all. I did amire though that the shoe he recommended was the cheapest... I knew he was actually trying to get me in the right pair... not make the most money. I pointed out to Nate the red running shoes that I thought looked best. He said that those were the worst shoes for me, but obliged to let me try them on as well as a bunch of other options. This store offers a limited line of shoes. Really there are only a few dozen different models. I'm not sure if the other NB stores in the area offer a wider selection. But they will work hard to find you the shoe you want. They called around to the other stores for my size, once I decided on a pair. All in all, I left with an understanding of my foot structure, a cool looking pair of shoes, and a salesperson that I would love to work with again when I return. read more

I needed to buy new New Balance shoes because I wear them almost everyday. I thought that if I went to a New Balance store, I could get shoes like my older ones; I did. I went there with no real expectations other than the hope that I could get the same type of shoes. I was waited on immediately by Tim who was knowledgeable and knew what I wanted after I explained what I wanted. He was easy to talk with, gave clear answers to my questions and was very likeable. I was pleased from the very beginning to leaving the store. The price for the shoes was less expensive that if I had gone to another shoe store; I was pleased about that. Terrible experience! First of all I had a groupon 20% coupon for student that they would not honor bc they said it was for college kids only but never said that! We ordered my sons shoes and they said 7-10 business days! Today is day 10 and no shoes! Shen I called the store apparently they were in back order and can't be ordered until tomorrow but no one called to tell me! Now we have to wait another 10 days for his new shoes! The best service I have ever had at any shoe store. I had Wesley help me, he was amazing. This store is so specific and personalized to meet your needs. I was indecisive and they never once got frustrated when I went back and forth trying on the same 2 pairs of shoes several times. Will never go anywhere else to get shoes. I got new shoes, insoles, and cleaner for a very reasonable price and I know that these will last for a long time and still give me the same amount of comfort as when I just bought them. read more

This is not a review of the shoes, but rather the staff itself. I have worn New Balance shoes for a long time and have always liked how they fit. This time around I've had some issues with the shoes and have gone back a couple of times to try different ones. The first encounter with the staff at this store has been good. But each subsequent one has been met with aloof attitudes and rudeness. From being told that it was my socks causing the problems (and having brought three different styles I wear and the same problem happening), to being looked down at when describing issues with the shoes, it gets very trying to go to this location to get help. I feel like I should just order online and leave out the middlemen these people are supposed to be in this location. I realize that they're in the business to sell shoes, but they also need to be in the business to help customers and treat customers with the respect they deserve. read more

The "new" New Balance 1540 is a diaster! I have worn the 1122 and 1123, for which this is supposed to be the new improved shoe. I actually had them measure my fot after reading several bad reviews on Amazon. As always, I'm a 9.5 B. I had to go to an 11 AA in order to get a shoe that fit!! The problem was, they don't make an 11 AA. The new shoe is uncomfortable in the ball of the foot and the materials aren't as cushiony. The salesmen all knew it was a problem, as they have been fitting women in one and one-half to two sizes bigger in the new shoe. That's not going to work, folks. read more

AVOID this store and the aloof, unpleasant employee. Horrible experience with a confusing situation from employee. The response from the store manager was no better. As a former store manager myself, I never let a customer remain unhappy. I rarely reprimanded my employee over a complaint but I never let my customer know that! I certainly didn't make excuse after excuse for them. I would apologize every way I could. I was empathetic, concerned, understanding and patient. I always asked the unhappy customer this question, "what can I do to make this right and retain your business?" I didn't give the upset customer a lesson in New Balance shoes. I was super excited to go in and try this store out. I had a $10 off coupon from the back of my Schnucks receipt and have been needing new shoes for awhile. I figured on a Sunday around 1:15 it shouldn't be too bad. I have to say I spent at least 5 to 10 minutes in the store without anyone saying hello to me. The shoe selection was rather.....lacking. I see better selections of New Balance at larger shoe stores. I did notice they were trying to show the other products New Balance makes besides shoes and that was rather nice to see. But I'd expect New Balance to carry their full line at a dedicated store. If not the full line then a lot more then they had. Running shoes were a plenty, cross training were lacking, and the other styles were non-existent. Overall with spending as much time in the store as I did without one employee (I want to say there were 2 or 3 and all helping someone, I was the only customer without an employee helping me) saying even hello and the lack of shoe selection I have to say this was a wash. I know I will not be back and will not recommend this store to anyone else. I don't like giving out 1 star reviews but this is a time I feel it needs to have it. But on a positive side the store was clean, the lighting was nice, and it did look appealing. Too bad I had such a bad experience. read more

I can't say enough good things about my experience today. I went in needing a new pair of running shoes and was helped immediately by Jeremy, who was courteous, helpful, and extremely knowledgeable. He first measured my foot and then had me step onto a device that analyzed the shape and pressure points of my feet, and with that information as well as some information from me about my running habits, Jeremy made some recommendations. I tried on a couple shoes in multiple sizes, and by looking at the shoes on my feet and watching me run around the store, Jeremy immediately recognized facets of my feet and my stride and fully explained to me how different shoes could help me run more efficiently and healthily. He also was patient, thorough, and more than willing to take the time to show me different models and different combinations of sizes and widths in order to get the best fit possible. When the store didn't have the exact size I needed, he was able to order a couple additional sizes at no charge and with no obligation on my part. At every juncture, Jeremy went completely above and beyond my expectations for what a shoe store could provide. The level of knowledge he had was truly remarkable. I've been a runner for most of my life, and he taught me some things about shoes and my feet that I didn't even know. I highly recommend this store. read more

We went in for my husband's shoes. They were recommended by his medical provider. The staff was so helpful and got him exactly what he needed and they have been wonderful. I have never found a really comfortable pair of tennis shoes so decided to try something while we were there. They talked to me and found a shoe that they thought would be a good one and they are like walking on air. I can't say enough good about the shoes or the staff. Top notch! read more
