On June 5th I went to Laurie's shoes after a visit to my foot doctor regarding a foot issue. He gave me a prescription for shoe inserts to correct the problem and sent me to Laurie's shoes. Ok great, I went right out, got the inserts as well as a new pair of Brooks shoes that the sales person recommended. I was very happy with the service and the sales persons knowledge of the products so I purchased both to the tune of approximately 310.00. After about 3 or 4 weeks of wearing them to work, I am a mail carrier, the little tabs on the toe of the shoes began to detach from the main body of the shoe and my feet started getting wet when it rained. Within 2 months the front of the shoe soles stared separating from the main shoe as seen in the picture. On Aug. 28th roughly 2-1/2 months later I went back to the store to ask for a replacement for these defective shoes. I was told point blank that I would have to purchase a new pair of shoes and that they would give me a 15% discount. I found this to be unacceptable and said so in a stern voice. I was then ganged up on by two employees at the same time. This was one of the worst examples of standing behind your product I have ever seen. Originally, I thought this establishment was extremely professional only to find out that their products are junk, and that they will not stand behind them. I stopped by on a Saturday evening. It was packed, and more loud inside than I had ever heard it before. I took a number upon entering, and looked around as I waited to be helped. I didn't have to wait long before my number was called, and I spoke to one gentleman who was training another person. They took my measurements, and went off to find some shoes In my size. Laurie's is THE place to buy shoes! We had been all over the city, tried several online sources, and met with disappointment at every turn until we came to Laurie's. Our kids have somewhat wide feet but are mainly super particular about being able to wiggle their toes. Shoes that have narrow toe boxes get rejected, regardless of how cute they are. Laurie's carries actual wide toe box shoes in fun colors that our kids instantly fell in love with! And they actually MEASURED our kids' feet which most other shops didn't bother with. We made an appointment to have our adult son fitted for new shoes. We did so because he has autism and he needs structure and finds it difficult to wait. When we entered Laurie's, it was very busy and noisy. Two things that are not a tolerable environment for him. I explained to the person who greeted us that we were going to need to reschedule as our son wouldn't be able to tolerate the environment. The staff immediately resolved the problem and took us to a quieter area in the back. They immediately began the process of carefully measuring and diagnosing the problem with his existing shoes. They were respectful and kind. What might have been a meltdown for him became a pleasant outing . To say we are grateful would be an understatement. I just realized my last two reviews or Laurie's are written on the same day two years apart. Well, it is time again for new work shoes and I'm earlier. I guess I have been working harder, so my shoes need to be replaced. As stated in previous update, no fun shoes at my employment. They've to be black, lace-up and a no skid sole. Having wide feet, it is hard for me to buy this type of shoe at outlet and discount stores. Trust me I have tried and to be honest, the prices are not that much different. Here at Laurie's I get excellent customer service from an experienced shoe expert. Who makes sure I am slipping my massive food into the correct size. No wonder my feet have hurt in the past, I was wearing the wrong size. Laurie's also has some very fashionable Cole Hann and Dexter loafers that I wear when I am not working. Also, if you have children, I highly recommend Laurie's. They have a huge variety of cute little shoes. It's my 5th visit to St Louis. Thought I had done it all, however this time I really needed to update my shoes. First, ask for Michelle as your associate. Yes, I am sure that the others are fine, but her service was quite extraordinary. 4 people in our group and we all bought shoes. I got one pair of rugged Merrell hiking shoes, but everyone else got dress shoes. Today was my first ever visit to Lauries Shoes. My 1.5 year old son is getting orthotics to help his balance/stability. This was the fifth store we had been to in order to look for the shoes my sons physical therapist recommended without any luck. We were greeted immediately by a friendly sales associate who was able to assist us. When we told him our son was getting orthotics he asked additional questions about the type of orthotic and why my son needed them. He was very knowledgeable about what shoe and size combo we needed in order to accommodate the specific insert my son will be getting. He was patient with our toddler son and were able to find the exact pair we were looking for in his size! We will definitely be back! read more

I was the kid who had to be dragged kicking and screaming into a shoe store when I needed new shoes. I HATED shoes. They were uncomfortable and restrictive. Fast forward to 2010: I'm still not a shoe girl, preferring to wear the same couple pairs all the time. I admit to having bought more than one pair of the same shoe because I liked them so much. But my luck just ran out! I have had about 3 pairs of the same model of Dansko shoes for the last 5 years. I wish I had bought more! But they are worn out. So when I heard that there was a trunk show event for Dansko brand shoes at Laurie's, I had to go, if for nothing else than to ask the rep where I could get another pair of my fave shoes (out of production now :( ) Being a teacher, I HAVE to have comfy shoes. I walk around and stand all day long. Danskos are the best! When I got to the trunk show event, there were a bunch of different varieties of Dansko shoes to try. Laurie's uses a ticket system to help you. You get a number and the salespeople call you when it's your turn. This gives you time to look around and then be helped. The salespeople are very friendly and helpful and devote all their time to you when it's your turn, unlike other shoe places (ahem, Macy's). When it was my turn, the sales guy brought me a couple pairs to try while opining that a certain pair were "cute." I agreed. I bought said pair. And another. Down $240. OUCH! But they are so comfy, they are worth it. Expect to pay a lot for any shoes you buy here, but expect that they are worth it. Bonus - they carry lots of sizes (small, narrow, huge, wides). My bf, who has huge feet, can get shoes here. I got a super comfy pair of hiking shoes here in wides and they were one of the best investments I ever made! Huge kids selection too. More bonuses: save your receipt and get 5% off your next purchase! Order a pair in another color or size that they don't have and have no obligation to buy it if you don't like it when it comes in! Friendly service! And no, the rep didn't have any quick fix to get me my favorite model of out of stock shoes. But that's ok, because I am moving on! read more

I stopped in because of Erin G's review about the orthotics for her child. My experience was nearly identical. They knew exactly what my son needed. My son was super-stoked about the slide and even got a balloon...all within 15 minutes. The shoes were pricey but I don't mind one bit paying for their expertise. I have weird feet and I have other issues (herniated disks in my lumbar spine) and I wanted a store in which the staff know their stuff. I'd been to Laurie's in the past and decided to stop wasting money on shoes that someone I know loves. I need shoes my feet love! Montezz was great and really knows his stuff! I probably won't t be returning to Lauries. I have bought shoes from Lauries since the early 80's and was always pleased. In the last several years, they have not had enough stock and I end up leaving and ordering online. I try to support local business but when the business doesn't keep up with the merchandise, I will unfortunately be forced to shop online which I would prefer not to do. It is sad that the store is not better stocked with plenty of options to choose. The lady at the door taking names was wonderful but the sales person we were assigned was less than that. It was a little busy, but that doesn't excuse the service received by a sales lady. She was short and didn't seem to really want to help. If you hate your job that much, find something else. I made a special appointment to work with Tim, one of their certified pedorthrists, to help me get orthotics and a gait plate per the instructions of a podiatrist I had recently seen. I had to wait 20 min after my set appointment time before Tim was available to work with me, but they actually told me ahead of time when I was making the appointment that I would probably have to wait about that long. So I can't fault them for being late at all because they were honest up front! Tim was extremely helpful and friendly! He analyzed my gait and gave me advice and many options to choose from in order to correct a walking problem I was diagnosed with. Throughout the half hour to hour that I worked with him, I in no way ever felt like I was being rushed, and I felt like I had Tim's compete attention and that he was honestly trying to just figure out what devices would best serve me and my feet in the future. The shoes and devices I bought were a bit pricy (70 for EACH gait plate, 60 for the orthotics) but after doing a cursory search online I found out that their prices were actually pretty competitive! I would definitely recommend coming here for shoes, especially if your feet are in need of some extra attention, as they have amazingly wonderful service! We were greeted immediately by a friendly sales associate and he knew exactly what we needed. I had a terrible experience at Laurie's. I came in to buy a new pair of running shoes after an injury. My sports medicine physician told me specific things to look for in my shoe so that I could get back to running. While I was waiting for someone to help me, I pulled a few off the shelf that went along with what my doctor recommended. When a sales associate finally got to me, he told me that all the pairs of shoes that I picked out were completely wrong for my particular injury. So, I explained him what my doctor had recommended. This SALES ASSOCIATE then decided to tell me that MY DOCTOR was wrong and that I had to get one of two particular shoes. I went along with it and tried on the shoes he had picked out for me. Both shoes were not only miserably ugly, but I could feel the pain from my injury immediately, indicating that he had completely missed the mark on what I needed. He wasted an hour of my day trying to convince me that only one type of shoe would work for me. So, I drove down the street to Fleet Feet and got my foot scanned and fitted for the perfect pair of New Balances. Exactly what my doctor had recommended, they feel great, and it took less than 30 min. All of the shoes at Laurie's are overpriced and for an older crowd. The customer service is miserable. Well here I go down there for the third time and it's 30 minutes away. Not happy!! Last week I wore a size 8 this week I wear a size 7. I didn't feel confident that they knew how to size my feet! However, I am just finally leaving a review as I really wanted to commend them on their response to COVID19 guidelines and re-opening. Today was my first time bringing my kids out to a store in 2 months. But after 3 tries at buying and returning shoes with other online retailers (ya, I know - it's me) ... I had to get them properly fitted and try on summer shoes. I was impressed with their video on the website explaining the changes and comforted that they were taking the health of their staff and my family seriously. Most importantly, everything they said they were doing happened (which is not the case at all retailers right now). Finally, all of this was still achieved with great customer service and kindness.
