The Swiss flag caught my attention while driving by, so I knew I needed to go back and check it out. I am so glad I did, as I discovered the Welcome Bear at the entrance when I stopped. The interior was recently renovated. The store was inviting with the natural light, Bern mural and the wood ceiling. I liked that it was curated well. The charming boutique has a variety of items, with all sorts of gifts, New Bern, Pepsi. Bear and Swiss-themed items. I saw apparel, jewelry, flags, toys, puzzles, candles, mugs, coffee, chocolate and even postcards, which have become harder to find these days. Totally cool that you don't like the current President; I loathed the former President. Yet, I didn't go around saying things such as "F$&@ the President." That is in total poor taste. Plus, if you are trying to sell merchandise, it seems like you might want to be Switzerland. And after a long day of sidewalk surfing, find yourself right back here at the BAR taking in the scenic views of kayaks strung from the rafters (there's a pun there I just know it) and dreamy tents on high. The staff was very helpful telling me the prices and what was on sale. Then I turn and on side of store was a small sip and shop.. cheapest beers in new bern from what I got told..lol.. all kinds of beers to choose from. I will definitely have to bring a friend and come back for that. The very nice lady I spoke to that works there said it keeps the customers around for a bit longer lol.. pretty smart plan if you ask me! I walked further into the store and they have all kinds of clothing and things for the person that enjoys the outdoors.. prices were not bad at all and with sale going on made it even better. Little balconies with furniture have staircases leading up to them. It is like having two smaller second floors! On the ground level, there is a door in the back leading to another room filled with merchandise. This building definitely nailed the looks. As for the actual merchandise, this building has a variety! There are small pieces of furniture, like chairs, dressers, and small tables. There are also useful, and sometimes funny, accessories for the house. One of my favorite things for sale was a kitchen towel that said, "Alexa, Skip to Friday." The store in general is a very cute little place to stop at. You should definitely stop here!
