We stopped in here after coming back from another antique mall. I was hesitant as I normally look for toys and collectibles. The sign said Toys so I had some hope. As I walked, I did notice the store was really full of stuff and I can see how some could say it was hard to find things. I did eventually stumble on the back corner with toys I thought I'd never see. The prices seemed high but the lady at the counter said they were half off so I grabbed most of them. The staff was nice and I had no issues. There is a small parking lot in front but that seems to be the norm for most places. read more

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!! Went to estate sell today.. The estate sale company loaded their vehicles at least 5 times while everybody stood in line watching them before they opened. We drove 60 miles for some oil barrels that were loaded up by the main guy of the estate company. I asked him why they loaded that stuff up and he says he deserved it because he worked hard at that sale. Then stuff kept coming out and loaded in the workers vehicles, like I said at least 5 more times... The guy behind me in line said he lives in town and goes to his sales regularly and that they do it all the time.. I will never attend this company's sales again!! read more

In a town with many choices for antique stores and auction houses, this company has chosen to represent the shady and dishonest side of the spectrum. I have been in the store on Hwy 46, attended estate sales run by this company and most recently participated in an online only auction. Although I did win a few lots, a couple lots were misrepresented and misleading. I have used online only auctions in the past and I do understand that when you bid and win items, they are sold as is and where is, and it is true the responsibility lies with the buyer. When you see the words "good condition "you expect items to be just that! After contacting the company, I realized that Gary has trained his employees in his own mold, and they behave as rudely and dishonestly as he does. I will and recommend that you also choose one of the many other options available in New Braunfels and other Texas cities to find items for collection or resale, and do not spend your money here nor recommend this company to others in your circle of friends and associates. read more

My father passed away in June. When I asked our estate attorney to recommend an estate sale company, she suggested New Braunfels Auction Co. and another option. The attorney had used NBAC for her estate sale several years prior when she and her husband downsized before a move to California. As the executor of my father's estate, this decision was very important to me. My parents were wonderfully interesting and well-traveled individuals who had accumulated many treasures after almost 40 years in their home. Since the estate attorney gave me the names of two companies she trusted, I ran those names by the realtor I hired to sell my dad's home. The realtor told me one of those companies was run by a no-nonsense, somewhat brash individual who lacked empathy but got the job done. The realtor wasn't familiar with NBAC. For me, hearing about the no-nonsense, somewhat brash individual was a deal breaker as selling off the majority of a loved one's possessions is an emotional journey, and I was in no mood to deal with an impatient, insensitive individual. So, I went with NBAC and am very happy I did. I've read some of the negative reviews here and can see they mostly relate to people who are shopping at estate sales. I can say without hesitation, as the grieving person on the other end of the experience, dealing with someone who values your loved one's belongings, not only for their market value but with reverence for the family, is something I both needed and appreciated. Gary's method for pricing valuable and sometimes rare items is systematic and he does his research. I suppose if a person is looking for the deal of the century for beautiful and unique items, perhaps they should shop on day three of any sale they go to, although, I felt the initial pricing was quite fair. The estate sale was a big one and several friends and acquaintances shopped at the sale and reported back to me that security was tight and Gary ran an organized event with plenty of staff. This may be annoying to the shopper but imagine if you are a family member and you receive reports of people walking off with your loved one's treasures because no one is watching. From the very beginning, Gary was sensitive to the loss our family had experienced, and he ran an extremely successful sale which he heavily marketed and was therefore well attended. He made good on every single promise he made to me. We hired his staff to clean out the house after the sale but surprisingly, for a home that was stuffed to the gills, there wasn't much left after the three-day event. He assisted me in finding a home for a baby grand piano which didn't sell due to a looming deadline to have the home vacant for staging. The very few larger items that didn't sell went to the shop for sale on consignment. We received a detailed and audited settlement report within about 30 days of the sale and a copy of every receipt along with the payment. I can't say one negative thing about our experience with NBAC, or Gary and his staff of busy bees. I can confidently recommend them. Most importantly, Gary never forgot who the items belonged to until sold and he was respectful and kind throughout the entire process. read more

I bought an automatic gate opener (more than $200) from one of Gary's estate sales by New Braunfels Auction in Schoentahl Ranch on the outskirts of New Braunfels. It was sold as "with the original box" and operative. It was neither. It was the non operative, automatic gate opener that had been removed and replaced. Gary's people had packed it back in the box and sold it as working. He would not allow it to be returned for a refund. A year or two later, Gary showed up at my home wanting to do the sale I was planning. I reminded him of the gate opener I was sold. He said nothing more than a "hm," then proceeded to hard sell me on his company doing my sale. He even called me a few days later to ask me again. Pretty brassy, imo. He could've offered a credit on my estate sale to make up for the bad purchase on the gate opener at the other sale, but he didn't. My answer was NO to him doing a sale for me. It was a matter of integrity and principle. Selling bad merchandise and refusing to be accountable for it made me doubt his integrity and seriously question what he would do if he had full access to my own property and possessions. I doubt if he ever put it together that his failure to make good on a bad sale of $200+ cost him potentially thousands of dollars in the loss of another sale. read more

I won a few items online and has the worst trouble trying to figure out how to get them back to San Antonio because one item in particular was a heavy China hutch for a steal. Gary and his staff were so understanding and held the item at their location past the auction pickup date with no problem. I arrived Gary himself and his staff were all so kind and loaded it all for me again with no hesitation and all were very courteous. I can't thank them enough for being so understanding during the whole mess I was in. I browsed the amazing store for a good minute but was pressed for time so I couldn't shop lol but the treasures there are amazing. I will def return and again can't thank Gary and his staff for being so amazingly kind with smiling facing while I was worrying for nothing. Gary your a very kind man and I will be returning again . My experience at a recent NBAC Estate Sale: If you're not purchasing over $25, make sure you have CASH. I spent over an hour digging through boxes, the heat in the room was sweltering, even at 9:30, and found two worthy purchases. When it's finally my turn to check out, after standing in line for fifteen minutes, I ask if they take plastic for my $8 purchase , and find out it has to be over $25. Luckily, I brought my checkbook...or so I thought. To his credit, the gentleman taking care of purchases, attempted to take a photo of my check several times, and finally said it won't work (not my account's fault, it's their equipment). I tell him I'm a teacher, and it's not like I can go around town, dropping hot checks. He says, the machine won't enter it now, so I ask if he can enter it later. He barks, "NO, I CAN'T." I take my check, tell him his attitude sucks, and proceed to walk out. The ^owner^ of NBAC is standing at a table, in ear shot of the entire conversation, and does not attempt to intervene, in an attempt to please a customer making an $8 purchase. I will never attend another sale, nor use this poorly run business if I have a need. read more

Thought I would tell you about my experience at NB Auction Company... It was wonderful. My husband and I attended an estate sale sponsored by NB Auction and everything was so orderly and the prices of items were put on everything. No waiting to find a price on anything. The estate was even offering a car for sale. I didn't think much about it, but after the weekend decide to ask more about the car. Gary Roger went out of his way to return my calls quickly and gave me a lot of great service to complete the transaction. We later visited the store site and I was very impressed on the staff and how everything from the many estates was labeled for easy verification as to price and original owner. I definitely plan to visit NB Auction for many years to come. read more

We hired Gary Rogers / New Braunfels Auction Company to conduct an estate sale. The day before the estate sale, Gary's team brought over so much stuff from prior estate sales that our items were over-shadowed by all of the extra stuff. Our nice house served as a showroom to sell other people's belongings. This practice is not acceptable as we had plenty of items to conduct a stand-alone estate sale. After the sale, Gary removed the unsold items and we much later received only a fraction of what we expected from the items sold at the estate sale and items removed. I highly recommend you hire another company to manage your estate sale. read more

I don't recommend dealing with this company. I attend many estate sales and it feels like their employees are so rude. I just left one of their sales and I observed the "manager" being a complete jerk to two other customers. Then he acted the same way to me. No service! I just left my purchase with him at the check out table. I won't give my money to people like this. read more

The estate sale arm of this company has serious issues. I attend estate sales with some regularity, and it seems each time I go to one of their sales, there is an argument, usually stemming from them selling an item to two different people. I'v'e seen them take checks to hold items that people need to pick up later, then sell them to the next person. On top of that, when they realize the mistake, they aren't very apologetic. I even heard the guy that's usually there say, "Look lady, it just wasn't meant to happen today" when he sold her wurstfest steins to another guy. That's messy. read more

Just went to an estate sale held by this company, and the owner was there. How did I know?? Because he was sitting in the living room having a conversation on his phone about "how much money they were going to make". And it's just been some phone calls I was trying to be made discreetly for that was quickly made, that would be one thing. But no I was there for 30 minutes and he never shut up about how much money they were going to make. And he was LOUD. He wasn't even trying to be polite by whispering or going outside. You could hear him EVERY single room, even outside. Despite the numerous looks of disapproval from everyone in that house that I saw pass him, (at least 15) Gary just couldn't get the hint that no one there appreciated it, and everyone was muttering under their breath what poor taste it was. He did a great job of incorporating personal stories into his pitch for each auction item, making it entertaining even for "non-bidders." He also made a compelling appeal to those who had not bid or did not win a bid. We received close to $3,000 more in donations that we would not have had otherwise. read more

NB auction company helped my family with an estate sale in August and they were awesome. I live out of state but every transaction I had with them with them was as if I'd been a local. Not only did they sell pretty much everything in the house, but they found a shipper for a large piece of furniture we needed shipped to Wisconsin. The staff were courteous, respectful, and very accommodating to our situation. Kudos to Gary and his staff. read more

As a first time estate sale customer, I have never been so disappointed with the professionalism of this company company. I did not have the sale in my parents home and had everything moved to New Braunfels. I have never received a complete inventory of large items that were picked up. I have never been able to verify the location of large items missing from the inventory. Basically the entire sale was a wash, considering the cost to move everything to New Braunfels and what has been sold. Not to mention having to rent a trailer and hire movers to get the furniture to my home. This is the furniture that would become their property after six months. Very unsatisfied! read more

I decided to downsize and chose New Braunfels Auction Company to give me an overview of the process. Mr. Rogers came to my home to "look around" the first day. He was very encouraging and helpful. After the interview, he verbally walked me through the process. All appointments were kept and on time. During my sorting process (deciding what to keep) at times I was overwhelmed. A quick call to Mr. Rogers soon soothed my fears.I always felt the had my best interests in mind. Also, he was very honest in warning me that not everyone would value my treasures as I did. When the awesome first crew came to sort and set up for the sale; they were ever mindful that these things were a huge part of my life. I was away for the days of the sale feeling secure in the fact that they knew their business. Not a good idea to watch strangers take away my things. All went well and I was pleased with the process. I would recommend this firm to anyone needing to liquidate a small amount or a huge estate. read more

They have been respectfully of the family and of the belongings of family that has passed. They worked tirelessly in the south Texas heat to find items that I didn't even know were there...true detectives!
