Many show up early and start the line that winds around the building so be ready for that. Rain, shine or snow! Haven't ordered any food here through all the concerts we've been to but have purchased a few cocktails and beers and the prices are reasonable for a venue like this. Cheaper than an arena that's for sure! The lights and sometimes the pyro that is allowed here is top notch. Mixed with the sound that rocks your chest (depending on the band of course), you get your money's worth. All of the ones we've been too have "gone over the specified time". Whatever that means, we're enjoying it. Whether it's the FIlmore's doing or the band's doing by feeding off of the crowd's energy, we'll always stick around longer!

We started out with Happy Hour at The Fillmore Detroit Bar for food and a refreshing drink. The bar is the former State Bar. It is a cool place to chill and the service was very quick. I had a Watermelon Lemonade Riffresher, chicken tenders and fries. It was an excellent venue for us to hear from author Kamala Harris to talk about her new book, 107 Days. She was delivering a message on her short road to the presidential campaign and the state of affairs today that have many U. S. Citizens feeling emotionally hijacked....but I digress. This was a great opportunity to experience in such a beautiful venue. It truly reminded me of a more intimate Fox Theatre.

Parking is free and easy on the street, and both the staff and the patrons were genuinely friendly. I also appreciated the metal detector at the entrance for an added sense of security. The drink selection is great, with plenty of alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. Prices are very reasonable and service is quick. Rob behind the bar was especially kind. The acoustics are impressive for a smaller venue. There are plenty of spots to stand and adjust the volume to your comfort level. I don't typically wear earplugs, but given the size of the space and the quality of the sound, it's worth considering. Everything is GA, so you can get as close--or as far--as you'd like. Bathrooms are clean and conveniently located near the front door. Ticket prices are very fair. I wasn't able to find a way to skip the service fee with buying at the venue box office, so I ended up purchasing through their online system. Even with the fee, it's still cheaper than most concerts you'll see.

One in particular being the "Yoga at the Hill" event, hosted by Bodhi Seed Yoga & wellness, and the Macomb County Board of Commissioners. It's a fantastic event, I've been going for over half a decade or so, and I find the park to be well upkept for hosting. The Amphitheater and park are very easy to find, as they are located on a main road, with clear signage, and a multi-lane, turn in for drivers. The park itself is a bit on the smaller side, but still very enjoyable. My only minor complaint about the area is that with the location being directly along 16 Mile/Big Beaver road, it can be very loud some days when trying to enjoy peace and quiet. There are available restrooms, which are cleaned often, drinking fountains, multiple pavilions, stages, a playground for young children, walking paths, multiple parking lots, and bonus, it's dog friendly. You also get to enjoy the unique military decor which displays a tank, fighter jet, and helicopter. During the event we don't have a need to enter the Amphitheater area, but it is viewable, and the set up appears very friendly for concert goers to enjoy walking around while listening to music from their favorite performers. If you haven't had a chance to see this County park and event space, I highly recommend you stop by for a visit, it's worth checking out.

Took forever to get in and out. Inside is the same. Lines and congestion everywhere. The bathrooms were a mess. Bathrooms themselves were not the cleanest or greatest either. No one knew where the line ended and was right next to concessions, so it was very confusing. Everything (food, drink, merch) was on the outer rim while all the lines just clumped right into the middle. Everything felt on top of each other. The food was good, got a pretzel and it was tasty. The staff were friendly. Lots of good options even custard. Good drink options as well. Seats were fine and the sound of the show was good. The lines/parking and being on top of one another was awful.

It is by far the coolest and strangest place of its kind (if you could say that the BNH even HAS a kind). They have a sort of library filled with books, a bunch of comfy chairs, and many many offers to just "pop in whenever" to sit and read, or just chill. Hmm! The shows are just how I like them. Really avant-guarde (if we're still allowed to use that term in Michigan) and lo-fi sets of soundscapes, political punk, anti-folk, and any other annex of words and cool you could think of. Most of the times I've been here, they've run a sort of "donation" like cover charge. So if all you have is $5, then it's $5, but it could be $10 if you want to give more support to the place, and so on. I kind of like that laid back approach to music venue commerce! Definitely check this out - and don't be afraid of the posh sounding name. These people don't bite!

A staple among local scensters and musicians The Bohemian National Home or The Bo House is a whole lot packed in one. Music venue, check, art gallery, check, social club, check. The Bo house is one of those places that you really don't know what to expect. This massive, historic brick building often finds local bands rocking out in a sort of lounge library room. With the walls lined with shelves of books(which I was encouraged to take as long I promised to read them), couches and chairs tossed here and there and a makeshift bar, The Bo House is certainly a sight. The sound system isn't great, but the vibe that is always radiating through this joint kinda makes you not care. The people are always friendly and give a sense of community. "Happy Hour" here runs from 11 AM to 9 PM, which seems like a perfect drinking shift for those other six people whose jobs the receptionist is now doing. Though I've heard PBR is free in Wisconsin, the $1.25 special here isn't so bad after accounting for shipping and handling.
