This place exceeded all expectations and is on my top 10 of my all time list. They keep the place clean and are extremely polite ... Great Spring Rolls and sesame chicken !!! This carryout stir-fry operation has seen better days. Called in our menu selection, as they insisted, by the item's number. This should have been my signal to change over to the Sushi bar up the street. Asked for very spicy Hot & Sour soup but tasted like dull beef broth with a few floaters of tofu & 4 sliced mushrooms! Their shrimp fried rice tasted like yesterday leftovers. Chicken with veggies was also a major disappointment - glue like sauce which had too much corn starch thickener. We got shorted an order of spring rolls - no great loss given the lackluster taste of the balance ordered. They need better air circulation as my clothes smelled like I had personally cooked the crap myself. In retrospect should have listened to my wife & rolled out for the California rolls! read more

Not great. But it is the best Chinese food in town. They have some good dishes. They used to have very good bone-in spare ribs, but I haven't seen that available lately, I don't like their boneless. Good soup. The potstickers are OK. The dough is thick and gloopy and I don't like it, but the filling is quite good. Eggrolls are fine pretty much the same as you can find in most Chinese restaurants throughout the country. I like the shrimp lobster sauce. They do that extremely well and all their shrimp dishes have pretty large shrimp which taste quite fresh. Pork dishes are good. Food is prepared very fast. Considering all things, it's the best you're going to get around here and throughout most of the southern part of the United States, so unless you're in Chinatown in San Francisco or New York, this is a good place for standard American Chinese food. I'll put in the updated price list (menu pics) which is higher than it used to be, but quite honestly a very good value as you can see. It deserves three or four stars, but considering that it is the best around, let's just give it five stars which also means that I will be back. Take out only, or maybe you can eat in here, but your car in the parking lot has better Decor anyway. read more

The crab rangoon was not crispy & I didnt like it, as Ive had better but all the other appetizers were very tasty. We have lived in this community since 2011. We have ordered from this take out more than most and have never had a bad experience. Tonight we ordered food and the spring rolls and crab Rangoon's were under cooked, not soggy, undercooked. I called the restaurant and spoke to the owners daughter, then her father, the owner, he argued and subsequently hung up on me. Not only do I not recommend this establishment I recommend that you save your money and avoid people like this all together. We have been a customer since 2011, that was irrelevant to them, by the hanging up on me when I called to complain. I also said it wasn't looking for a refund or compensation, simply to let them know where they fell short and I got hung up on. I called back and the daughter said it was her dad that hung up on me. Fantastic, no more business from my family, I will recommend Red Bowl from now on. read more

This place only had 4 reviews with a 5 star rating so I wasn't sure what to expect but it was excellent . It's hard to search out a good Chinese food in a small town like Pinehurst but if you're in the mood for a pajama day with some good Chinese this is the place . I was a little annoyed that there is no online menu anywhere to be found , but again, I'll attribute that to this being a small town and I'll include a full menu in my review. We ordered General Tsos chicken combo add mushrooms (I know that's weird ) Sweet and sour chicken combo , Crab Rangoons , Wonton soup and Generals tsos Shrimp . The General Tso chicken was fantastic . Everything you want in this dish , not to much breading , the chicken wasn't fried to oblivion and left dry and the sauce is savory with a slight spice on the end . The sweet and sour chicken was equally good and everything you'd expect from traditional s&s chicken . The curve ball in this order was the General Tsos shrimp . I've had a bad experience with the General shrimp elsewhere because the shrimp were very small and the breading was ridiculously caked on . Not these . The shrimp are large , lightly fried and tossed in the Savory spice sauce . They come with a lot of broccoli that we appreciated . The General Tso shrimp is not offered in a combo but I would suggest ordering it as a shareable appetizer that everyone can dig in with chopsticks , it was really good . The crab rangoons are light, sweet and crispy . We both really enjoyed the wonton soup . The small was around 2$ and I had 5 or 6 delicious stuffed wontons in mine, I would highly recommend it . Everyone was very nice inside and I believe the owner was cooking , he came around the counter to hand me the order and he was very friendly . Definitely wasn't the best Chinese takeout I've had but definitely the best around the Southern Pines/Pinehurst/Aberdeen area. We placed an order very late, around 2130- close to closing time. We ordered chicken lo mein, general tso's chicken, and beef with broccoli. The chicken lo mein was unimpressive- really didn't have flavor so I ended up having to recook it with some more soy sauce and sesame oil. And seriously, where were the vegetables? The general tso's chicken was probably the best part of the meal in that it had good flavor though I think it would have been much better if it was a bit crispier- it was just very very soggy. Lastly, the beef with broccoli was decent. It was a little gooey for my taste but there was A LOT of broccoli and I really appreciated that. It was also crisp and not overcooked. Overall, I will probably be back when I am needing a Chinese takeout fix! Leaps and bounds better than Red Bowl Asian Bistro and China Garden. read more

My husband and I were in Pinehurst while traveling. Used Yelp App to find early dinner, saw 4.5 stars for New China . Follow App direction to New China. We were not impressed with the strip mall location and the less than promising worn interior. Still we ordered the Chefs Special Lomein. The absolute worst I have ever tasted. The chicken in this dish tasted of spoiled raw chicken that had been washed with bleach! We discarded the remained and left. Sorry but stay away! read more
