    Kung Pao Chicken Yum
    Adam O.

If you've been to the old China King you know the tables and floors were always sticky and the buffet was terrible. The new owners have turned this place around. They don't serve a buffet as of right now, but the place is spotless and that means a lot to any patron. The meals have some really great flavor. I enjoy Kung Pao Chicken and its the best I've had anywhere. Many places the sauce is just bland for my taste, this has just a bit of heat and abundant flavor. It's the standard Chinese foods but there is a freshness you never got before. Its only been open about a month so I hope they keep up the good work.

My children and I stopped in recently, and as we were walking in, the owner automatically started yelling to us about getting the buffet. I know from past experience that the buffet is extremely small, but if they would just keep it filled with items that they put on it, they would be no problem. Their food is good when they actually make it. Even though we were planning on ordering off of the menu, I gave them the benefit of the doubt, and we went with it. Our bill was nearly $60, and they never once filled up anything on the buffet. They left it well over half empty, with barely anything in the trays that they did have. What they had in the trays when we started wasn't even enough stuff for us to get a plate each. We waited a while, and the owner walked past several times looking at it, and then just started playing cards at their little booth. The chef in the kitchen came out once to look, and then just walked back in the kitchen and started smoking a cigarette, and we didn't see him again after that. We waited nearly a half an hour, and after we felt so embarrassed from just sitting there, we eventually just left. Cannot say enough how disrespected we felt after spending our money here. We honestly felt like they just ripped us off. Not sure if I will ever go back again after this, which is sad, because their food is actually so good when they make it.

The Good: -Consistently delicious food -Multiple cuisines to choose from -Generous portion sizes -Unbelievably low cost -Kind and gracious customer service -Very clean The Bad: -They close at 8pm The Beautiful: I mistakenly ordered a dish without noodles when I meant to order a noodle dish. They were kind enough to cook me up some noodles even though they were about to close. They were very gracious to me when they could have told me it was my fault and sent me away. They stayed a little later to help me get the meal I wanted. I would never have asked this of them, but they insisted. This is very typical of the customer service I've experienced there. Just very lovely people offering good food at good prices to the local community. My favourites: Tom Khai Soup, Pork Eggrolls, Cashew Crusted Chicken, and Double Cooked Pork Price per person $10-20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian options: Nine available vegetable entrees. The menu had many of the expected food items as well as others not so common. On Saturday and Sunday there are many, many more. I always start with vegetable spring rolls. These were especially good. Also had the tasty pancake beef rolls. Will stop again next time we are near the McCandless Ross Townships border. The restaurant is bright, cheery, and clean. No dim sum carts however. Ample parking abounds in the McIntyre Square complex.

We ordered takeout this time, and the overall experience was great. We placed an order online, and everything was very neatly packaged and ready to go when expected. The food even travelled fairly well, such that it was still in good shape after traveling home. The restaurant itself is in a bit of a drab strip mall, but it's generally nicely decorated with colorful signage and a nicely kept interior. In terms of the food, the shrimp spinach dumplings were really nicely done, with lots of flavor and texture. My partner especially enjoyed the barbecue pork bao, which were nicely steamed with a very flavorful filling. The egg tart was good, but not really my thing. It had a bit of a caramelized sugar flavor reminiscent of waffles with syrup. The spicy oil splashed noodles, one of the noodle dishes on the menu, was generally lacking: some nice toppings, but not much flavor. Overall, this is a nice little place that seems to be fairly well run. I suggest going for the dim sum and giving up on expectations for anything on the menu that isn't dim sum. Find another restaurant for your main course.
