Went to the Allegheny Grille for dinner with "The Man" and had a lovely evening. You can't help but love the view and rustic atmosphere here! Add the delicious food and drinks and you are looking at a delightful date. I had the Bruschetta Chicken and loved it. Stopped into Foxburg from out of town this weekend and stumbled across this gem. First off, this restaurant makes you feel like you're at some mountain resort. Log cabin style. There's a taxidermy bear and elk right by the hostess stand. Outdoor patio with a waterfall and view over the river. Nice outdoor bar as well. Absolutely loved the vibe, felt like I could hangout all day there. Food and drinks were good as well. I was on "vacation" for the weekend so I helped myself to their 'Watermelon Long Island" to start things off. Good drink, little too sweet and tart for my taste but it was fun. I also got a pina colada which was surprisingly good given that fact that most restaurants can't make a good one. For my entree, I went with their 'Panko Crusted Haddock' and a side of fries. The fish sandwich was great! Nice crispy fish on a warm bun with some lettuce, tomato, and tartar. Fries were great all well, had that lil batter dipped crunch to them. Overall, I had a blast. Service was great, our waitress was friendly and attentive to our large party of 9. Surprised this place doesn't have a strong rating on Yelp.... Doesn't matter though, it's a 5/5 in my eyes. I maintain, a good day/night out at a restaurant cannot be ruined by so-so food alone. Service, Ambience, Food....they all are part of "our" restaurant experience. Case in point, The Allegheny Grille. It was good food, nothing special but i wasn't asking for a 5-star meal. I wanted a nice lunch with my wife and MAN.....did this place deliver. On a beautiful sunny day, on the deck overlooking the Allegheny River, wow. So if the food didn't knock me off my socks, the service and the VIEW.....oh man.....THE VIEW more than makes up for that. This is a "special occasion....birthday.......anniversary" worthy place. Our server (Bailey) was great and the manager came out to check on us towards the end of our meal and I've never been so grateful to a place for an experience as I was here. I'm not knocking the food....only being honest. You can get a burger, a sandwich....and entree ANYwhere. Why not get it at a place that's memorable like this. Thank you thank you Allegheny Grille. My experience here was pretty disappointing. I ordered the Greek pasta for $20, and right from the start things went downhill. Even the water didn't taste right. The salad was overloaded with cheese, and the Italian dressing had almost no flavor at all. The pasta itself was the worst part completely overcooked and bland, despite having plenty of veggies mixed in. For the price, I expected something much better. This evening we arrived at the AG at 6:30pm. Polite young man took my name and handed me a buzzer and stated it would be approx 20 minute wait. At 7:20pm I went back inside to see where we were at with our 4 top and the host was nowhere to be found. One of the waitresses said he left! Waited another 10 minutes at the front and finally the manager came over and asked if she could help me. I told her I had a buzzer and have been waiting for over an hour for a table. She smugly said, I'll walk through and see what I can find. she found us a table and pointed to a waitress to come over and get us a drink. A delightful waitress named Patty, took our drink order and we immediately put in an appetizer order. (House Chip and Stuffed Peppers). First round of drinks came, and Patty took our dinner order. 1/2 hour later the second round of drinks came. At 8:40pm still no appetizer! Waitress kept apologizing but still nothing. Finally we asked if we could cancel our order and just get the check for the drinks. Patty kept apologizing and we told her "this is not your fault". We actually felt bad for the staff because they were missing out on higher tips due to the VERY slow service. Manager never even came around to ask where we were with our service. we probably would have stayed if they had offered us a piece of bread or cracker, something! We paid our $64 drink bill and as we were walking out the manager was hiding behind the glass in the bar. A male manager came out and did apologize and we told him people are OK with slow service but you need to at least make sure their appetizers come out to keep them as a patron. The reputation of an establishment is based simply on good customer service. If you're running behind with service, walk around, throw a bun at them and keep them drinking! Wife and I stopped in for Valentine's Day Dinner. The server was very nice and informative about the specials. My wife had the grilled salmon with hot honey glaze and I had the king cut of the prime rib both were very good also had the spinach artichoke dip for an appetizer was also very good. Waited 1 hour for our appetizers. We got our salad before our appetizers and we had no silverware. We had to ask for forks which took another 10 minutes to get. We never got plates for our appetizers so we ate the appetizers out of our salad bowl. Our entrees came and the waitress never removed our dishes from our salad and two appetizers we ate. I ordered prime rib which was one of their specials they were advertising and I had to wait another 10 minutes for my knife. I cut into my prime rib and it was so tough and well done ( I ordered it medium). Service was slow and terrible. Waitress couldn't care less it took us forever to get our food. Service average polite and very apologetic on timeliness of food prep and backup kitchen. Took over a hour to get salads and then red meat ordered medium comes out well done. Excuse is it is hard cook a bone in pork loin. I suggested the cook try again. After waiting another 30 or 40 minutes still no pork loin. I would give the review maybe a #1. Beautiful view on the Allegheny River. I took my brother for his birthday, and we sat at the bar. He likes his French Dip sandwich and cheese curd appetizer. I ordered an impossible burger, and not sure what they did to it, but there were four or five rock hard pieces in it and I actually cracked a tooth, which is a first in my 58 years on the planet. So don't order that! Bartender was very nice and good service, but I have to ding stars for requiring dental work. read more

Ordered the special blackened salmon bites. Definitely not blackened and the fish was bad. As in make you sick tastes awful bad. I am not one to send things back but in this case did as I feared a major food poisoning episode. My fearless spouse also tasted it and deemed it inedible. I declined anything else as I lost trust in the kitchen. I had fresh chips as the side and they were to come with sauce. No sauce. Cold. Minimal wait staff, no bartender, wait staff made drinks. We went through a list of what she could and could not make. This place was wonderful 10 years ago. Now it's only good for the view. Never brought the bar drinks And the soda she brought was wrong. after over an hour we received 1 salad and an appetizer (which was passable at best). tried switching our food order to take out. The waiter took it to 3 other tables before finding us. We were told the waitress would be by to cash us out and she went to the table next to us and never made eye contact before disappearing yet again. so we left the food, and left the restaurant hungry. Trust the reviews. The First time in my life I left no tip on a $100+ meal. Borderline disaster. We ate here on a busy evening. We ordered two dinners. Just shy of two hours we finally received our food.... It was dark out and we could barely see. I repeat: ALMOST 2 HOURS WAITING. (The food was a comedy act: a side of penne was JUST that: penne with NO sauce!!! Just PLAIN penne! The salmon was greasy and utterly terrible ). Due to our long wait AND AFTER ALMOST 2 HOURS they offered us free desert. Well we don't eat dessert. We said "how about a few drinks"? They said "no". We said "f**k you, no thanks". People to the left and right of us also weren't getting their food. In one case they brought someone their side of coleslaw an hour before their meal arrived. We didn't leave a tip. First time ever. We love the Foxburg Inn, and will only come here for bar food. Absolute disaster and we weren't alone. Not a class-act establishment. The meal should have been discounted or maybe even free. Decided to take a bike ride and go for supper. We heard about this place, so decided to drive the 60 ish miles. It's a beautiful place, the atmosphere is so welcoming. We ate dinner on the patio beside the Allegheny River. Such a beautiful setting! We had the Dry Rub Aged Ribeye and it was really good. Service was great as well. Across the parking lot was a wine place and they had live music. Wouldn't have stayed longer if we didn't ride the bikes down. Definitely would recommend!! read more

Amazing place to eat! Worth the drive! Highly recommend you make reservations. I made reservations online and everything went smoothly. It's a relaxing atmosphere here. If dining indoors, you can see the Allegheny River from everywhere in the restaurant. Nice big windows to look through. Outdoor seating was very nice too, but we chose indoors because it was a little muggy outside. Our server was friendly and very attentive. She was able to answer our questions as it was our first time dining here. Started with a cocktail off of the seasonal menu. Very good! Enjoyed the mussels appetizer too. Entrees were cooked perfectly and there's a very good list of side dishes. The creamy cucumber dressing is delicious! While we were eating, the manager visited our table to make sure we were having a good experience. He also thanked us for eating here. Save room for dessert! So worth it. Have had our anniversary dinner here for several years and eat there a couple times a year. Made reservations a couple weeks in advance, when we arrived they seated us in the bar beside the game of chance machines, when we asked for a seat in the dining room they told us no should have asked when we reserved. Hostess was mad we asked to sit outside. She then neglected to tell any servers that we needed service. After waiting 15 min for service we had to ask for service, ordered drinks, appetizer and meal. Never received our drinks or appetizer, meals were ok, not hot just mildly warm. ( this is when our drinks showed up) Had to ask for silverware, which should be a standard staple at a restaurant. . Server did not check on us until they knew we were very unhappy. Very disappointed and expected much more !! Never did get the appetizer . She told us she forgot to put it in & did we want it after our meals came.. No thank you, cancel the order.. Plenty of servers, not short staffed & not busy.. While I have only been here one time, as I went while traveling through the area, I was truly impressed with the quality of the food, as well as the excellent service. I WILL go back, as many times as I can, to try other items. However, what we tried, we loved. The French Onion soup was excellent. The stuffed banana pepper appetizer was also great! The fresh and hot rolls, served with good butter, was a bonus. Loved the buffalo chicken salad, burgers and spaghetti. The kids chicken tenders were, honestly, mind blowing! Check out pics. We've gotten food from here three times (twice in person and once as takeout), and have been disappointed every time. Unfortunately, there are few dining options near the Foxburg Inn. This most recent time, the server got both my husband's and my order wrong. When I asked her about mine, she responded with a great deal of attitude. Overall, the food is not good quality, it's overpriced, and the service is bad. The only redeeming quality is the beautiful view of the river. read more

This was a disappointing experience from beginning to end. Before we drove 40 minutes to eat there we called and asked if we needed a reservation. They said no, and that usually they would say yes but they weren't at all busy tonight so we should just come on down. When we got there 45 minutes later the woman at the front told us they were completely booked but she might be able to find us a table in the lounge/bar. Most of the reason we wanted to eat here was to sit and be able to see the river while we ate. We were seated at a corner table in the bar that had a view of the street. The entire time we were there, at least six tables sat open in the main dining room near the view. The food was subpar. Our bruschetta appetizer was okay but didn't have enough bread to go with the dip (I've never seen it served separately like that). My partner ordered prime rib. He was served a ribeye that was very over cooked, he sent it back and received a new one that was extremely rare. He ordered medium rare. It tasted good but they served him ribeye not the prime rib he had ordered. I had a chicken special that had overcooked tough chicken, a bland sauce, large chunk of raw onion, with sides of cold mashed potatoes and sour overcooked veggies. The server didn't handle the mistake she made with the steak very well, she did say she wrote primes rib but pushed the ribeye button in the system. Manager took 1/2 of the cost of the steak fr but never came over to apologize. In fact, he went outside with his beer and was standing talking to other customers and smoking when we left. We stood outside on the deck for about ten minutes to enjoy the river and he had ample opportunity to say something but didn't. Not even a "thanks for coming in tonight" as we left. Poor management. Also, the men's bathroom was disgusting. Toilet was overflowing with #2, manager knew and did nothing about it. To sum it up, my man spent about $85 on a dinner that neither of us really enjoyed, on what was supposed to be a relaxing, romantic date night out. If we go back it will be to sit on the deck and have a cocktail. But we won't do dinner there again. read more

The food was pretty good. They have a couple of twist on the normal area fare. It was nice to try something different without being crazy. Our server was a very pleasant young lady. Answered all our questions since this was our first visit. The view ( we sat on the outdoor patio on a beautiful day) was very beautiful. The reason I didn't give this one star is because I actually liked the food here the one and only time I went about 3 years ago. The reason I am only giving it 2 stars is because my mom just called to see if she could make a reservation for an outdoor table for next week because she and my dad wanted to treat us to an anniversary dinner. Call us crazy but with thr uncertainty that Covid has brought and me being immunocompromised and my son still not fully vaccinated, being able to eat outside is a must for our family. However, she was told that they do not do reservations for outdoor tables. It's for a Monday night for crying out loud - how many people really flock there on a Monday night? I guess anything is possible but I would find it hard to believe. Anyway, they just lost out for their unwillingness to work with people with special requests who want to celebrate special occasions! read more

We love this place. We have been going here for years. It's a wonderful destination type restaurant. We finly bought a camp near there and we visit often. It used to be alot more expensive but a year or so ago that changed. The Sunday brunch is affordable and very yummy. Lots of choices there. You really will go for the view and stay for the food. Nice staff. Gorgeous relaxing view. My only gripe is that they would shake the menu up a bit , but I guess if it's not broke don't fix it. We will always go back. Kid friendly. If you're looking for a beautiful setting that offers mediocre food and service with an extremely rude and unprofessional attitude, this is your place. Our reservation was at 8:45 for five (they close at 11:00). We were immediately made to feel uncomfortable, as Autumn H chastised the man who seated us for something regarding the tables he moved to accommodate us. It was abundantly clear from her attitude that she was very unhappy she needed to serve us. Someone ordered an apple sangria that didn't taste anything close to an apple drink and contained no fruit. When questioned about it, she said some of their specialty sangrias do not contain fruit and then under her breath sarcastically said, "I can't argue with who makes the drink." Autumn H's attitude absolutely sucks. She single-handedly made five uncomfortable and ready to walk away from their meals. I understand it's difficult to find and retain employees, but really, there have to be people with better attitudes who actually want to work in the service industry and are good at their jobs.
