Nothing fancy here. A functional back street BBQ joint. Very nice and obviously patriotic folks run this restaurant. The lady that served us was pleasant and friendly. The restaurant offers the basics with a little of their own spin on the menu. For me, I tried something different, the Diablo Sandwich. Referred to on the menu as spicey. The lady serving us described it as a version of a Sloppy Joe (chopped brisket, BBQ sauce, peppers and onions). For the sides, I picked Cowboy Beans and Confetti Cole Slaw. The sandwich was very tasty. With several generous applications of the house made Hot BBQ sauce I was able to bring the heat level to what I consider spicey. Same with the beans. The slaw, average. My wife had the sliced brisket with the Rustic Potato salad. A fair serving of tender lean brisket. It had a smokey bark, not covered with an overpowering rub. Good, but she commented that it was a little dry. Sauce was needed. A big dallop of delicious fresh potato salad was her side dish. The restaurant is easy to find. The bone separated from the meat and it was tender. Michelle told me to taste her smoked sausage ‍. She enjoyed the Keiki which was a shredded potato smothered with Cowboy beans, smoked sausage and pulled pork. Randi was great! It was buttery a little bit crispy, but soft and chewy on the inside. The toppings were very plentiful as was the sauce and the cheese. We met the owner and he was very friendly and kind.
