We got carry out and it was by far the best we've had in the New Freedom/Shrewsbury area. Delicious dumplings, sweet n sour chicken, and general Tso chicken. Generous portions. Will definitely be returning any time we want Chinese, this is our new go to! read more

I'm 50 yrs old and this is the absolute worst Chinese food I've ever had in my entire life. They can't even do fried rice right. No flavor what so ever. Raw onions, chicken and onions not even cooked with the rice. Getnetal tso's chicken tastes like spicey ketchup. Absolutely horrible. Don't waste your money. read more

We have eaten here many times because the food is good. However when we went there last night, we noticed several people preparing and packaging the food were not wearing masks. When we asked that they wear a mask while preparing our food they ignored us. I would expect better right now. read more

OMG - FILTHY!!!!! I ordered at the front counter when I walked in then walked back to use their bathroom. What I saw was atrocious. Not only was the bathroom disgusting, but I could see straight into the kitchen and saw a large pile of raw chicken sitting out along with other food. I canceled my order and left before I got sick. Definitely the 2nd best Chinese food in the Shrewsbury/New Freedom/Glen Rock area. A Chinatown type place it is not; this is typical Americanized Chinese food, but it is some of the best takeout one is likely to find anywhere. The menu is huge and contains all of the standard items one would expect to find. Pretty much everything I have tried has been excellent. The prices are extremely reasonable, especially the lunch specials, and the portions are very generous. Service is quick, although this place is very popular and on Friday and Saturday nights there can be a huge dinner rush. read more

Just had dinner there. Messed up our order three times and gave to another table. After 40 minutes of waiting talked to staff about what could do. They said nothing. We pressed back and asked have to do something the girl said i can give you fortune cookie. We laughed and said no can you ask owners. She said they don't care and she just works here and walked away. I would encourage all to go where they care and are a cleaner restaurant. read more

At first, I was skeptical about even the concept of searching for decent Chinese food in small-town Pennsylvania so imagine my surprise at an excellent, delicious meal from a strip-mall restaurant. Both the sesame chicken and General Tsao chicken tasted prepped-to-order, with the meat that was actual chicken (not weird imitation chicken some places serve) and came with a side of perfectly crispy, freshly flash-steamed broccoli. The veggies alone were good enough for me to wish that I tried some sort of chicken with mixed vegetables dish instead. (Even now, I can just imagine what must be perfectly tender baby corn, crispy carrots, and other luscious green goodies!) The only item of disappointment was the eggroll, which was that typical flash frozen-looking, cigar-thickness contraption sometimes found at poorly Americanized establishments. Though a bit disappointed, I put it aside after two bites, making sure to leave as much room as possible for the seemingly-endless serving of the fabulous sesame chicken. Curiously, our piping hot app came out a few minutes after the piping hot food so the otherwise speedy service was a little screwy for timing. Another oddity was the lack of palatable distinction, which tends to be obvious at other Chinese joints, between our two mains: General Tsao (characterized by flavors of ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sherry, and chili peppers) and (for which the base is sugar, cornstarch, and sesame oil). In fact, we only half-jokingly wondered whether the General Tsao order was coated with sesame seeds and passed off as sesame chicken (jury is still out but the former may have been just slightly tarter than the latter, indicating at least a different ingredient). Prices were spectacular: dinner for two with apps was ~$22 and lunch-time specials can be had for ~$4, making it a deal good enough to travel for. Thus, if New China Restaurant was closer to home, I'd definitely--definitely--frequent it! read more

First off, I ordered thru Doordash. Was supposed to be here in approx 1 hour...took 2 hours. The food was barely edible. Had I not been so hungry and just spent $40, it would have gone in the garbage. Tasted like they fried the egg rolls in rancid grease. The beef and shrimp were pretty much raw, and the shrimp toast was burned and had no taste of shrimp at all. Worst Chinese food I've ever had. My dogs are really happy though. I love that you can order online! The food tastes fresh and flavorful, and the service is outstanding. My one and only complaint is their fried rice is slightly dry, but otherwise both quality and pricing is great. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Shrewsbury area. read more

The food is typical Chinese carry out. The wings are terrible. The owners have the personality of a cardboard box. When will these foreign owned businesses learn in this country acting like your patrons are faceless tokens only from which to take cash from is not decent customer service. read more

Usually good food at good prices. An OK Chinese restaurant in the area. It's always best to call ahead to order, eating in is an ok experience but this shines as a carry-out. The only problem I have was recently (May 23, 2018) my mother & I ordered 3 items for takeout [Teriyaki Chicken, Beef Lo Mein, and General Tso's Chiken -not spicy] for dinner. Needless to say Beef Lo Mein wasn't correctly made w/o mushrooms & onions - which I am highly allergic to both, but the Teriyaki Chicken & Beef Lo Mein DIDN'T taste nor smell right. They both tasted & smelled like they both were sour/gone bad. We stopped by there the following day to complain about these 2 items and to see if we could either get our money back or have them replace those 2 items & the male owner (I am guessing that was who it was) told us to bring back the items so they can see what was wrong with the Teriyaki Chicken & Beef Lo Mein. So... Needless to say, WE DIDN'T get a refund or replacement for those 2 items since we didn't have items with us when we complained because we through away the "sour/gone bad" items since we have animals/pets that would have gotten into it & gotten sick. AND WE WILL NOT BE GOING BACK!!!!! So.... If you EVER go to this place & your order ISN'T correct or DOESN'T smell/taste right, & you WANT a REFUND/REPLACEMENT, You HAVE TO take the item(s) back to them to do so. read more

So we have tried this place a few times. Every time we get food it is bad. Simple dishes like chicken and vegetables, shrimp fried rice, even fried stuff. All bad. Not the worst Chinese food I have had but pretty close. No effort is made to provide decent food. The chicken has a weird shine to it, like a clear coat. Rice is dry. Shrimp is from a can. How hard is it to cook fresh chicken. Forget about the fried foods, like egg rolls. I don't think the fryers have seen new oil in a while. Not really a friendly place either. But when you really want Chinese food and this is the only place around.........what are you going to do? read more

After reading the reviews on Yelp, thought we would try this restaurant for carryout. Dropped over $60 there Saturday night. No one was inside eating & no others picking up food while we were there. So they were not busy at all. They got the order correct. But the food was terrible! it was the worst Chinese food I have ever had. The Emerald Garden in Shrewsbury near Walmart is vastly superior in everyway! read more
