I rediscovered this place last year and thought it was only fair I update my review since it has become my go to Chinese restaurant and a part of my weekly rotation. I have tried quite a few of the dishes and food has been consistently good. Portions are decent size and well packed for delivery. My mother and I live in the area and have been ordering from New China Taste for a few months. This place is consistently GOOD and stir fries veggies in a way where the greens stay green. Food consistently tastes fresh, which means their inventory management must be pretty good. We've eaten at nearly every asian restaurant in the area because we're pretty picky and if we want consistently good American Chinese food where we'd actually finish the leftovers, we always come here. We only wished sometimes they'd offer real Chinese dishes and a smaller portion for smaller price (so we can order more dishes) but that might be adventurous, though I feel for this area the palate would allow it. Also, as a security person I want to comment on the website/credit card compromise several old reviews mention: This type of scam is happening to other restaurants in the area (such as Momo's) and I would recommend against ever ordering online through websites (for pickup or delivery). UberEats and GrubHub takes a painful bite out of profits for small restaurants, but BeyondMenu doesn't take as much of a cut and the restaurant gets to use their own delivery drivers. I support them this way. I recommend the restaurant consolidate their orders in a safe way that discourages online ordering through their website to avoid this issue. Finally, phone orders are probably still a good way to do business, but I recommend pickup and to pay with tap or smart chip, not slide. I really think they deserve more stars than they have. read more

I am updating my review to respond to the business owner. I whole heartedly disagree with everything you stated. Firstly, yes, I used the current web site powered by Red Passion. Secondly, I don't believe you take customer data protection seriously. Just looking at reviews over the last several months and I found at least 4 other complaints where customers stated that their debit or credit card details were stolen and used for fraudulent purchases the next day, just as me. One even new as of yesterday. I'm sure there are others who didn't catch a fraudulent charge as well, or other reviews I missed. It's not a coincidence that this keeps happening to your customers. Look at attached photos of other people's reviews. Whether or not Red Passion confirmed this - is irrelevant. After so many complaints you should have the due diligence to find a new host for the website for your customer's safety. This is a clear violation of privacy rights. Why don't you place an order through your website with your own card details and see what happens? I have been out nearly $200 since this weekend until my bank waits for the charge to post and then reimburses me. In addition, I have to wait for a new card so I'm unable to use my bank for anything for the time being. Do you not understand how disruptive this is to a person's life? And it's all because YOU don't take this seriously like you've stated. Edit: funny the pictures I added showing complaints have been removed. Not sure if it was owner or Yelp. I've noticed a pattern where in Houston, my primary location, they tend to overstate their food, where the DC area severely *understates* their food. I was expecting to be underwhelmed by New China Taste based on these reviews, and I'll have to disagree. My shrimp fried rice and spare ribs were amazing! They taste almost exactly like 14th Street Cafe Asian Cuisine not too far away in DC, which is another favorite. I mean, the ribs well seasoned and well charred, and the shrimp fried rice was so addictive that I ordered it again the next night! I don't know--maybe it's a classic case of my gut instincts winning out, but I've been nothing but impressed with the Chinese food in the DC area. New China Taste was such a pleasantly wonderful experience. Delivery from the restaurant directly arrived about 15 mins sooner than anticipated. I was so happy they had kimchi on their menu. Their food was delicious, flavorful, and satisfying. We had their shrimp fried rice, a beef dish, and lo mein. I loved how their menu allowed you to include special instructions and customize your side orders(fried rice, lomein) their prices are also extremely reasonable. I am typically very picky and rarely desire Chinese food however I highly recommend them and look forward to ordering again from them. Thank you for the great experience. read more

In all the places we've lived, we make it a point to find our go-to Chinese takeout place and I've got to say, New China Taste is by far one of the best we've ever had. We've been in the area a little over a year now and I feel as though they've even stepped up the quality of the food in the past few months. Was there a change of management? I have no idea, but we've always enjoyed the food so we keep coming back. Our usual order consists of: General Tso's Chicken, Sizzling Crispy Beef, String Bean Szechuan Style, Eggplant with Garlic Sauce, Chicken Lo Mein, Chicken Chow Mein, Wonton Soup, Egg Drop Soup, Crab Meat Rangoon. Obviously we wouldn't/couldn't order all of these at the same time. Sometimes for a simple (and cheap) dinner, we like to order the wings with fried rice from the appetizer section. It comes with 6 wings and a bunch of rice, which is enough to feed our family when we order 2 of those. You could even ask to make it a "combo" and they will add 1 spring roll to each order of the wings & rice. I've mentioned the quality of the food being an improvement fairly recently. Maybe it's just me and only weirdly noticing it, but even the white rice seemed to have really stepped up their game in taste and texture. It's even great the next day when you have it with leftovers. In terms of ordering, we've almost always order by phone then pay when we pick up the food. We're only about 8 min away so it's not a big deal for us to make the drive. Also, once placing your order (whether by phone or in-person), it typically takes 15 min or less. Only once did we have to wait longer since it so happened that they were busy that day. Still...worth the wait. American Chinese is like comfort food for us, so if you're craving the same or needing something quick, filling, and delicious, New China Taste is your place. We highly recommend it! read more

Last time I ate was probably well over five years ago. I used to live in this area, and this was the closest Chinese restaurant. I don't remember it being very good. However, I think it has improved! BF came here in need of a Chinese food fix. We had the beef and broccoli-on the recommendation of other yelpers - as well as a General Tso chicken. Service was good and friendly. NCT is a small restaurant with big time food. The quality and taste are just as good or better than some of the larger places I've eaten at. There is a restaurant at the MGM ( I won't mention it's name), but they charge up to 3x as much and the food is nowhere as good as NCT. The fried rice is delicious and I had to stop myself from eating it in one sitting. The ribs were well flavored and not dry at all like most places. The fried wontons were devoured and outstanding. You can order from the appetizer section and try try all that they have to offer, but if you're looking for full entrees they have a great selection for you to choose from. Disappointed. Ordered sesame chicken, egg rolls and Szechuan string beans. The egg rolls had little flavor and the cabbage was mushy. The sesame chicken had a fabulous flavor but the meat was dark and chewy (rib meat?). The Szechuan string beans were cooked in spicy oil but had no other flavor. Will not go back. read more

HAVE YALL HEARD THE NEWS OF THEM HELPING THE POPOS CATCH BURGLARS AND ROBBERS THAT OCCURRED IN THE SHOPPING CENTER?! the restaurant owner deserves a praise for this. this is your traditional asian american restaurant. when I enter the restaurant, it's sort of nostalgist. it is a small family business, so you'll hear yelling in the kitchen (but they're not mad at each other, just loud) and kid sitting under the counter. amazing food and service. the two daughters are there whenever they can to help which I can relate to and absolutely adore. I wish the business got more attention. hard working people. I love how they respond to every review, positive or negative, even with the language barrier. they were opened during covid time when everyone was closed, providing needs to the community. I got the chance to know them. they are good people with kind hearts. there is language barrier, but they are friendly and always try to have a chat. the owner, whose the head chef makes great food and very friendly. we always have a nice chat! I've never had issues with my order, if I did, they were probably minor. they are always willing to make accommodations. they are willing to work with you. this is my go to Chinese restaurant, I don't eat from anywhere else. sometimes I'll call in the store and ask if I can have something made that's not from the menu. so far they've met my needs. truly amazing. give this place a try! you won't be disappointed. also!! if you support small asian businesses. this is the place. they're also raising awareness for panda yaya in Memphis Zoo! read more

Five years later and I am still digging this place. The wonton soup is like crack. It is tip your bowl delicious and I can't get enough. I'm trying to eat a little healthier but hear days and I can vouch for the Shrimp in Lobster sauce as an entree. When I'm feeling the need for a real splurge, the egg foo young really hits the spot, but it iS definitely rich and not low cal! Reasonably priced, super fast, friendly delivery... order arrived steamy hot to my hotel in about 15/20 minutes. Garlic chicken was well-positioned and flavorful. Crispy, nice sized egg rolls. The only "negative" would be the steamed dumplings. They were large with a well seasoned filling, but had a very thick dough which isn't out of the ordinary... I just personally prefer a thinner more gyoza-like dumpling. All in all, a very solid delivery experience... I most certainly recommend and will order again before I head home in a few weeks. read more
