Horrible. Everyone there has such high standards, depsite saying borderline corporate things like…read more"it's ok, we care about your mental health" when their actions ring the absolute opposite. It's the NORM to apply to AT LEAST 10 colleges. This is not normal? Kids will crash out over a B+ which is crazy to me. Active shooter training was a joke. If there was an actual emergency, half the school would be dead because of their snail paced reaction time. Some teachers are incredibly spineless and probably couldn't discepline a pea. Other teachers act like college professors and expect way too much out of everyone. The building is also falling apart and has been for years. The custodians do not get paid enough to deal with the amount of mess. There was also this really weird "neutral stance" they wanted to take on the whole Gaza situation, which just screams zionist propaganda. School counselors will try to take a "neutral" side, even when there is someone clearly in the wrong. If you're being bullied, you're out of luck. I want to point out Jessica Antoline is an absolutely horrible teacher. This woman threatened to take away my comfort item that I can legally use because of my IEP. It's not a distraction to me or anybody else, she just chose to target me. I write an email explaining my distress and how what she is doing is literally illegal and she has the audacity to contact everyone in my special ED circle about this, whining and crying like she's the victim and I'm some big meanie for standing up for myself. She made it into a much bigger issue than it needed to be. I genuinely don't know how this adult woman can act this way. Some real "peaked in high school" type behavior. She also has some weird zionist ideology, so don't bother signing up to her classes. The one save and grace this school has is Shelby Chung . This lady is great, 10/10, love her. She is so sweet and helpful and speaks for herself. One of the yoga teachers is also great. I liked her. She talks about how her room used to be covered in writings for years and years ago, only for it to be covered up because some higher ups said so. Years of peoples work was destroyed and covered behind white paint.

When we were considering Lesley Ellis for preschool, we asked around on the playground, and just…read moreabout every parent we talked to told us, "It's excellent! The only negative is the cost." That matched our experience perfectly. The tuition is steep - though financial aid is available! - but everything else was fantastic, and we were consistently impressed with the teachers, curriculum, field trips, awareness of kids as individuals, interaction with administration, and more. My mom worked for decades in early childhood education, and (as an interested and involved grandparent) was also very impressed. They welcomed/encouraged heavy parent involvement, from "come into the classroom to talk about something you're knowledgeable/passionate about" to occasional parent-meetups-over-coffee in the morning and more. But I was never, ever made to feel guilty about not being able to participate heavily, which was the norm once we had our second kid. (Who also went to LES for preschool, once old enough.) We can't speak to their K-8 experience, but for preschool/pre-K/TK they were fantastic.

Lesley Ellis is an independent school from pre-school to grade 6, but expanding soon to 8th. Our…read moredaughter is in her third year there and we have been delighted with the program. The teachers are an outstanding group and attuned to the needs of each individual student. The administration is truly exceptional as they create an environment where parents, children and the school come together to form a nurturing and vibrant community.
