I got a custom bridesmaid dress made, and I felt like he did the bare minimum. It was already bad enough that he claimed I could not get the design I initially wanted due to not having enough material (but I'm not so sure about that after seeing what the other bridesmaids were able to do with the same amount of material). Anyway, while the dress was cute on the outside, it was super painful to move in. It was sequin material, and he did not line my dress, so my skin was super red and irritated throughout the night from being poked. I asked him before picking my dress up was it necessary to have it lined, and he told me no. In addition, I could not walk up the stairs properly in it because it was so tight at the bottom. I tried to reach him after the fact because I want to use the dress for future purposes, and he has been hard to reach all of a sudden. I am hoping that I can update this with a better review, but as of now, I feel like I was taken advantage of. I advise him to give more insight and expertise to his clientele in the future, so they can make the best decision possible.

She was very attentive and really took the time to understand what I was looking for. She made the whole process easy and enjoyable. Neal handled the measurements and was extremely thorough. I mentioned that I'm actively losing weight, and he made sure to take that into account so the suit would still fit well as my body changes. That level of care really stood out to me. Alan was also incredibly generous. I was able to use a store credit he had provided, and it was clear that he genuinely cares about his customers and wants to make sure everything goes well. That kind of service is rare these days. The Madison Avenue showroom is beautiful and the whole team makes you feel very welcome. I've had a really positive experience every time I've come here. That's why I returned in May 2025 to order a sportcoat. Unfortunately, the customer service this time fell short of my expectations. By late August, I realized I hadn't heard anything about the order and called for an update. I was told the fabric had been out of stock and later delayed due to the factory's vacation schedule, which seemed reasonable enough. In September, they contacted me for a fitting, but the appointment date inadvertently fell on a holiday when the store was closed. I rescheduled for October. At that visit, I was told the jacket would be ready in a few weeks, but again, no one reached out. In December--more than six months after ordering--I called once more and received a text saying they'd follow up with an estimated date. When I expressed frustration about the lengthy delay, they acknowledged that the initial order had been submitted late, which contradicted earlier explanations. To their credit, they took responsibility and offered a generous store credit, which was appreciated but not expected. The reason for my three-star rating isn't the final product, which was fine, but the lack of proactive communication. I had to repeatedly contact them just to understand what was happening with an order that had been paid for months earlier. Even my salesperson at Macy's is more proactive--and I don't spend thousands of dollars at a time there. My husband has had consistently positive experiences at Alan David, so I do believe my situation was an outlier and wouldn't discourage others from trying them. They ultimately handled the service recovery well; I only wish the issue had been acknowledged and addressed earlier. My hope is simply that their follow-up and order tracking become more reliable moving forward because otherwise, you might be left with the feeling that once you've paid, nobody really cares.

He quickly gathered five pairs to try, knowing not only the size I said, but using his knowledge of his inventory that fit what I was asking for, even if I didn't directly ask it. Not only did Frank give me five pairs, but he actually put them in an order that would give me the best idea of what to look for in fit and feel. We quickly got down to two pair, and he explained the differences between the two, both short-term and long-term. There was zero pressure, zero pushing, just honest feedback. One pair was twice as much as the other, but he didn't push anything either way. (I went with the less expensive pair -- cheaper is not the right word, because they are excellent quality.) Not only that, he offered to have them hemmed right there on the spot. Within 45 minutes of walking in the door, not only did I have a new pair of jeans, but tailored and walked out the door with my new jeans. As for the jeans? They're great. I went with a pair that Brooklyn Denim made and I absolutely love them. Frank also made a profile for me and saved the info of the other pair that I liked in case I want to order those at a later date. Because I don't live in town, it's a great resource. I really can't recommend Brooklyn Denim enough.

When I arrived there were several men working there and seemed very busy unpacking things. I had a very specific idea of what I wanted and asked one the men there if they had what I was looking for. He never bothered to move from his spot or stop what he was doing to help me find what I was looking for, but tried to answer my questions (such as whether they had the color, and style of shirt I wanted and where to find it). He had a thick accent and I guess there was some communication confusion because eventually he got very frustrated and literally yelled at me, like i was his child, annoyed that he had to repeat himself over my question. So I immediately thanked him and walked out. Unfortunate for them. Countless people ask me where I got my shirt from and I won't tell them because I am not sending people this way after being treated like that, nor will I ever step foot in this store again I think they do wholesale and seem more interested in that and the occasional cash grab from walk-ins than actually building a customer base outside vendors. This place is not black owned (from my observation), so I would suggest people interested in buying African style clothing to find a place maybe in Harlem or Brooklyn owned by people who will respect you and your business a lot more rather than just being interested in taking your money while blatantly disrespecting you.
