She was very attentive and really took the time to understand what I was looking for. She made the whole process easy and enjoyable. Neal handled the measurements and was extremely thorough. I mentioned that I'm actively losing weight, and he made sure to take that into account so the suit would still fit well as my body changes. That level of care really stood out to me. Alan was also incredibly generous. I was able to use a store credit he had provided, and it was clear that he genuinely cares about his customers and wants to make sure everything goes well. *updated stars after communication from owner* I think the quality at Alan David is very good--my previous suit from them is excellent and gets frequent compliments. That's why I returned in May 2025 to order a sportcoat. Unfortunately, the customer service this time fell short of my expectations. By late August, I realized I hadn't heard anything about the order and called for an update. I was told the fabric had been out of stock and later delayed due to the factory's vacation schedule, which seemed reasonable enough. In September, they contacted me for a fitting, but the appointment date inadvertently fell on a holiday when the store was closed. I rescheduled for October. At that visit, I was told the jacket would be ready in a few weeks, but again, no one reached out. In December--more than six months after ordering--I called once more and received a text saying they'd follow up with an estimated date. When I expressed frustration about the lengthy delay, they acknowledged that the initial order had been submitted late, which contradicted earlier explanations. To their credit, they took responsibility and offered a generous store credit, which was appreciated but not expected. The reason for my three-star rating isn't the final product, which was fine, but the lack of proactive communication. I had to repeatedly contact them just to understand what was happening with an order that had been paid for months earlier. Even my salesperson at Macy's is more proactive--and I don't spend thousands of dollars at a time there. My husband has had consistently positive experiences at Alan David, so I do believe my situation was an outlier and wouldn't discourage others from trying them. They ultimately handled the service recovery well; I only wish the issue had been acknowledged and addressed earlier. My hope is simply that their follow-up and order tracking become more reliable moving forward because otherwise, you might be left with the feeling that once you've paid, nobody really cares. read more

I had a nice suit. For many, many years. But after wearing it to a funeral, I noticed the jacket had a few holes. Moths perhaps. Yikes !!! So after doing some research, I came across "Alan David Custom" (hoping they could fix it). I spoke with a very stylish Frenchman who works there named Jay. He carefully examined the garment and said that to fix it, would cost almost the same as a new, made to measure tailored suit. Jay said whenever you are ready, come back, ask for me and let's see what we can do. No pressure. After a few months, I returned and was ready to start the process of having my first custom made suit. The whole experience was thorough and quite enjoyable. Never tedious, boring or at all a hassle. Hundreds of fabrics to choose from in all sorts of weights, patterns and materials. You pick your lining, cut/style, how you want it to fit, and when do you need it. Every detail you can think of. The best part was having an experienced tailor at my side. Giving valid advice and opinion, that was in my best interest. Because...Jay wanted me to look my best. After about 4 weeks, I came back to try on the suit. To me, it fit like a glove. But to Jay, it needed a few adjustments. A couple of weeks later, VOILA !!! My suit, with my name inside on the label, was ready. Along with a shirt that Jay had made for me. The suit is impeccable. Compliments galore. Now you may think..."a custom suit ?!?! Why ? Must have cost a fortune !" But not the case. They have fabrics for all budgets. Plus, something like this will last a lifetime. I haven't been to Alan David in several years, so there's alot I can't speak to that other reviewers may have better insight. Today, as I sit down in my office wearing my Alan David suit, I felt inclined to write a long-term review, much like Car & Driver does. Because, while it's great to put on a brand new suit and feel like a million bucks, one of the most common questions is "will it last?" I went in for my first fitting at Alan David exactly 12 years ago (and picked up the suit 11 years and 44 weeks ago). While over the last 12 years I have certainly developed a head full of grey hair, a body full of aches, ligament tears in my shoulder etc, I can easily say my Alan David suit has held up a hell of alot better than me. And while I've treated the suit well, it's been on countless flights, been slept in, been caught in Manhattan downpours, and yes, even dry cleaned a handful of times. This thing is a tank. I mean it is in near-mint condition. I knew that from when I first put in on that it seemed very durably made, but I am shocked. Especially given how soft the wool is (i went with a Zegna fabric which is fantastic). Aside from being durable, it is such a nice suit - looks and feels amazing. One thing I've noticed from other custom or MTM or whatever suits is the trousers always feel a little lower quality - these are the best I've had, even compared to high quality pants of various brands (Canali, Zanella, etc). The other thing is they stand by their word in terms of lifetime warranty. I had to bring in the suit a couple of times for some minor maintenance items and no questions asked it was taken care of. The only slight criticism I have is while the jacket is incredibly comfortable and fits well, it's a little more boxy & less flattering than I had hoped for, but I also have a difficult body to fit. I had also got my brother a gift certificate for custom shirts when I got his MBA (figured with his student loans he wouldn't be able to afford a shirt once he got a job), and he's been wearing them for a decade and always text me before his meetings saying "going AD today!". While quality menswear is indeed a lot of money, you do get what you pay for. And sometimes, as with Alan David, you get a little more than what you pay for. Look forward to the next 12 years with this suit (and hopefully can come in for another soon). read more

This is the first time I am getting a bespoke clothing and I am just blown away by the entire process. From the work that first goes into it to the finished product after a few adjustments. The service is what makes it an unbelievable experience. I started my process with Jay, who did the measurements to the T. Great guy to interact with throughout the process and gave great feedback/recommendations when you ask for it. He is super considerate when it comes to selection and really tries to avoid giving his opinion in terms of style unless asked upon, which I understand completely why. I was told it would take about four to five weeks for the suit jacket to be made. I sent a direct message via Yelp on the status of the suit, as I haven't heard from anyone five weeks later and my message via their website were not being answered. Alan, the owner himself, ended up messaging me back on a Saturday evening a few hours later after I sent the message via Yelp with the update. He made sure I knew everything and even gave me his personal email to schedule the appointment within the week. Talk about top tier service. I responded back on a Sunday and got a response back within a few hours, on a Sunday! Shows they're committed to the customer, regardless what time or day it is. Drunk on a Saturday 3AM? Maybe not so much. Alan needs to sleep too, ya know. For the two adjustment visits, Neil helped me out with this. Again, top tier service and super friendly. Even the man himself, Alan, came out with the assist for the first adjustments. The turnaround was quick, taking only two days. I was able to wear my suit jacket for my big 3-0 this past weekend. The suit itself. It may have not shown when I was trying it on that day and walking out with the finished product, but I for sure was impressed. Tailored specifically towards my body. It makes me look a lot skinnier than I am, my shoulder do not feel trapped, good arm mobility, and it just feels amazing putting it on. The quality of the materials is world class. It's just up to me now not to spill a drink on it. I surely will be back when it's time to get another sports jacket or even a full suit for a future wedding. read more

Disclosure: I got a Yelp deal for a suit here. I had seen ads plenty of times, but once I saw the deal, I was on board to check it out. I was in the market for a navy suit. I am a bike racer on the side, so I have an odd shape (skinny) and nothing off the rack ever fits. I often get custom or even full bespoke clothes made, but it can get expensive very quickly. From the first meeting to each fitting to final pick-up, the staff here was amazing - very friendly, engaged and customer-focused. They took their time with me to find the right fabric for the suit as well as a nice option for the suit lining. They also took their time with the measurements, asking me questions about my workday (walking around, sitting, etc.), and how I liked my suits to fit, etc. It was a collaboration as I had some definite must-haves, and they took them into consideration, not lecturing me or being condescending at all. It was a pleasure working with them on this part. I came back a few weeks later for the first fitting. I was blown away. It is rare that the first fitting is more than 50-60% right. Usually, there is 1, maybe 2 more fittings. My first fitting was about 95% perfect. A few small adjustments needed and I came back in 2 weeks to pick up a perfect suit. Impeccable. This is the first time in my life that I had someone close to me get a custom suit and now I can't imagine life before Alan David (and the suit was for my fiance, not me). A+ experience, A+ service, A+ hospitality, A+ professionalism. I came into Alan David looking for a new Navy Blue work suit. Since this was my first bespoke experience in the US, Alan was incredibly professional and during our initial consultation, he walked me through the whole bespoke process that is being done at Alan David Custom. There were a ton of questions that he asked such as how often I wear a suit, what kind of occasions would I wear it etc. just to get a sense on what I was looking for and to match a suit for my needs. A+ for that attention to detail. When I told Alan that I needed a Navy colored suit, he walked me through all sorts of options that I can get for that color. There were honestly way too many options to pick! Alan was very thoughtful and patient, and guided me towards all the different options that I can pick after narrowing down the different shades/patterns of navy blue. I ended up choosing the sharkskin blue, which was a lighter shade of blue in between a navy and a royal blue. Also choose the specific features of the suit, so it definitely felt customized to myself and my liking! I was then measured up, and was told the whole process would take ~4 weeks to get the initial garment tailored and manufactured. 4 weeks later came in for an initial fitting. Joris took care of the fitting process for me, and adjusted the garment based on my preferences such as making the legs a little slimmer and tapering the back of the jacket. The alteration process took about a week or so, and came back for another round of fitting. I was thoroughly impressed with how the final product looked. Definitely Alan David takes the bespoke process very seriously, and I can say I am a very happy client to be doing business with them! Also, you get free life time alterations for whatever suit you get. So if you gain a few pounds or loss some wait, just call their team, bring the suit over, and they'll have it fixed! Great customer service with this offering! Overall? Highly recommend Alan David and their team to get your next suit - be it for a wedding, work, or other formal function. I believe I had 3-4 appointments regarding the suit choices, insider patterns, and fit and Alan had been present for all but one appointment. The attention to detail is evident. Alan helped me realize that no matter your body type or silhouette, proper suiting can and should be done. From the onset of the first appointment, Alan asked about my current suits, what I was looking for and how often I suit up. That set the stage for color, and style recommendations. Got a custom suit created here and woo what an experience. From the start I feel like I was treated like royalty. I was able to sit with Alan and he walked me through the different fabrics and the pros and cons of each. He then showed me some customization options, and while he definitely shared his opinions, he never made me feel like I had to go with what he was suggesting and really wanted me to make the decision for myself as this would be my suit. The actual fitting was done by someone named Jay. It was a great experience. They really get all your measurements, even between your shoulder blades, which I've never experienced before, but really added value to the suit. He also was so complimentary, I felt so good about myself afterwards! Eventually had to come in three times for one suit - one was the initial sitdown on what fabrics I wanted, and an initial measurement. Then the second time was for touch ups, and then finally, one last time to pick up the suit and make sure it fit perfectly. I could not be happier with the entire experience, from Elsie's super kind voice on the phone to Jay's expert tailoring. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a custom suit. One of the best displays of customer service I have ever received. Owner truly believes in his company and supports his business. As with some fittings there were some mistakes and they needed to be fixed. Unfortunately I didn't have much time to fix them. I was not happy and I felt I was in deep trouble. Didn't expect the owner to immediately contact me (late night) to rectify the situation. He came to me and assured me everything was going to be taken care of before I left. He made sure my suit was fit and exactly how I wanted. He showed he absolutely cared about my experience with his company by his effort and result. Suit was fantastic and fitted perfectly. I know it was my wedding but I did receive many compliments throughout the wedding. Anyways thanks to the fast acting and extremely supportive owner I had the best wedding. UNBELIEVABLE service!!!!!!!! I set up my appointment and spoke with Elsie who was beyond accommodating and helpful. When I went in I had some pictures of what I was looking for/thinking of... mind you this is my first custom clothing experience ever. My salesman David was beyond helpful and had input that I was unaware I needed. He sat patiently as I went thru their books of fabrics and colors/styles. When I told him the date I needed it for (July 11) to wear to a wedding he didn't flinch and said it would be a rush but they would get it done. My next monkey wrench came in that I would be out of town until July 9 and would be in for my final fitting on July 10. Today is July 10 and I went in exactly at 11 am when they opened and tried on my pants and blazer. They fit PERFECTLY, nothing was needed and I left with my outfit. I can not believe how good custom/made to order fits!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll DEFINITELY be back and will recommend them to EVERYONE!!! read more
