In today's day & age, it is rare to come across customer service experiences that wow you, and has you leaving with a smile on your face in awe of how above & beyond an employee has gone in simply doing their job & doing it extremely well. Jonathan at New Fine Arts (Alternatives, the area in the back) was by far the most knowledgeable regarding the product that I was searching for, gave wonderful examples, pros & cons, and then without pressure, allowed me to choose the product that was right for me. Anyone who works behind a counter in sales need to look to Jonathan as the role model to aspire to become. Used to be a great place to go, explore and learn. Was dogged by security and asked to not walk product from one side of the store to the other because they are separate stores?! I wish there was a SIGN somewhere saying that. Was trying to compare products, and the guy at the front counter said nothing about us having it when he looked up from his phone to ask if we had a question. Seemed like a someone was on a power trip. I'm not coming back, very disappointed and not one positive greeting. Was about to spend several hundred dollars and just left everything and walked out. How is it this place has no reviews? Maybe everyone's too embarrassed to admit going here, but it's a fun store! First of all, from what I can tell, at least half or more of this place is DVD rental? Still? I have no idea who is coming here to rent their porn on DVD, but whatever. I was here about 10 years ago and looking for classic 70s stuff like "Behind the Green Door" or "The Devil in Miss Jones" and they had nothing. The only one they had was "Taboo," which we made the horrendous mistake of actually watching. Let's just say it involved a mother and a son, was the complete opposite of sexy, and pretty much scarred me for life. So they really just seem to have a daunting amount of bad amateur porn (is there another kind?) and again, who is paying money to rent this instead of using the internet? Anyway. This is a great place, on the other hand, for toys. They have an entire wall of vibrators and though it's not really my thing, they seem to have a ton of S & M offerings and more than the average place when it comes to off-the-beaten-path adventuresome. I noticed they have a good amount of games, but overall I think other places like Condom Sense or Condoms to Go have more in the way of bachelorette/bachelor party goodies. You know, the really tacky crap I hope to god I personally never have to endure. They also have quite a few selections for guys'..."solo play" is the polite way to put it, perhaps. But overall, lots of variety in the toy department. I'm sure their traffic has dropped off immensely over the years due to the privacy and ease the internet offers, but for what it's worth, the prices here really aren't too much more than what you find online. And if you're shopping here rather than goodvibes, there's probably some sort of immediate need anyway. read more

As "nasty" stores go, this one is amazing. We went to Condom Sense on Cedar Springs and got out as fast as possible because it was warm, sweaty feeling and dark...creepy. This store, although located in a shady part of town, was well lit - nice, bright, organized and clean! Straight couple. We have been to all the New fine arts stores and we love the Alternative store in the back. Me and the wife spend hours just hanging out and talking to the employees. We love the service.and the help. They are great and friendly. We also like the selection of toys at all the stores. All the employees have been great but love the alternative store emplyees. They spend hours talking to us, showing us stuff and helping us with what we need. We cant say enough about this store and its staff...... read more

If I didn't have to give them stars I wouldn't but since I have to it's 1 and that's only because of the over night clerk he was great. As far as the rest goes I have NEVER been treated so ROBBED before in my life. My husband and I went in here 3 times one weekend Not because we liked it but because we had nothing but issues. The WORST of them was the last one he got a new pump got it home used it for maybe a minute (if that long) and the pump broke off so every time he squeezed it fell off. Waited till the manager was there to return it because apparently that is the only person allowed to do exchanges (they WILL NOT do returns) I had my receipt with us my husband talked to him told him what happened as he did over the phone the manager then put the squeezer on it squeezed once and said he couldn't exchange it cause there was nothing wrong with it my husband then told him it didn't stay on if you do it the way you're supposed to do it he told my husband he didn't care he would not exchange my husband said it's trAsh dude the manager then began to say and I quote "oh it's trAsh alright then dude" and actually throw it in the trAsh can behind him we walked out my husband called to get corporate number they would not give it or the managers name to us. We all never go back in there and now we're just out the 50 we paid for the cheap piece of crap not to mention we don't even have the damn product anymore. read more

I've been spending a lot of money with this place getting great discounts when I go in. On 6/20/2014 I went in the Mockingbird location only to be treated like shit by the two managers. I show them a receipt I had from my last purchase and the assistant manager named Michelle start drilling me about who gave me the discount. After I informed her one of my people know the owners and this is the rate they give us. She start asking me who, who are their names with an attitude. SHe calls over the main manager and he goes on his rant. I'm thinking to myself, fuck who I know, I have a fucking receipt with their store name, address, and prices on there. Why won't you honor what i've been paying for the items. I purchase the items anyway at 10% off, which after I looked at the receipt I still didn't get the discounts. I hand the lady my card and she laid it back on the counter, and everything else she was suppose to hand me. I asked her, why can't you put my debit card and DL's back in my hand like I gave it to you. She starts talking more shit. The manager comes over and tell me if I don't like their service I can leave. I'm like WTF, I wanted to smack his ass, but I left.
