Over the years we've watched Jack grow not only academically but also personally, developing strong communication skills, responsibility, and a genuine love of learning. One of the most special opportunities recently was his participation in the MMUN (Montessori Model United Nations) conference in New York. Seeing students represent their schools and countries on an international stage at such a young age speaks volumes about the quality of education and encouragement they receive at Montessori Institute of Broward. The leadership at the school is exceptional. Ms. E, the principal, creates a warm, supportive environment where students feel valued and inspired. She truly leads with heart and vision. Jack's Grade 4 teacher, Ms. Kay, has also been outstanding--patient, dedicated, and deeply invested in her students' growth. She challenges them academically while also nurturing their confidence and character. We are incredibly grateful to be part of such a thoughtful and inspiring school community. Montessori Institute of Broward has played a huge role in shaping Jack into the curious, confident young person he is becoming. This C.H.O.I.C.E school is a (free) public Montessori elementary school in Delray Beach with a…read morepeace and justice component. All students are selected by lottery after their parents submit them through the CHOICE application, which is due in January of the year before. A unique thing about this school is that it is 1 of 2 public elementary schools in the entire County that accepts 3 year olds into a full-time day program. This is 1 year before VPK, and instead of a half-day program (like VPK), this is a full-day, from 8am-2pm. This is kind of incredible, as we were able to put our 3 year old into school rather than daycare, which is much preferable, as well as cost-saving. However, in order to take advantage of this, you have to submit an application while your child is 2 years old, and most parents are not thinking about applying to the school board website after being a parent for only a couple of years. 3 year olds are put in a mixed classroom of a small group of 3, 4, and 5 year old children, with a lead teacher and an assistant, in a classroom that has Montessori elements to it. All teachers here have received additional schooling in Montessori education, and many have been teaching at the school for decades (as well as having sent their own children to this school). This speaks volumes about the institution itself. We have experienced wonderful care from the teachers here. Spady's official website, like most PBC public school's sites, is confusing and lacks basic information. I knew very little about this school before applying to the program, due to the overwhelming and convoluted system that the School board administers, which is way behind the times. I would love to see a modern website with basic information about the school displayed. If you're reading this, I encourage you to write a review for your children's school, so that parent voices and experiences can shine and help fill in current gaps in information and content.

Communication was often challenging, largely due to a language barrier, which made it difficult to address concerns properly. One major issue for us was the use of extremely strong air fresheners. My son, along with all his belongings, would come home reeking of synthetic fragrance that lingered for days. Made me really think why would daycare have to use synthetic material known as endocrine disturbers around young kids??? After doing my own research on the potential effects of air fresheners on children's development and well-being, I raised the concern with the owner--only to be dismissed and told they were "safe." I find this kind of attitude irresponsible, dangerous and disappointing. I would not recommend this place!

I explained the unique situation at hand, which was speech delay and that he needed to be in a smaller class setting for extra support. She ASSURED me that the Fort Lauderdale location would be ideal and accommodating because they just opened up. I took the day off from work to tour the place. I showed up with my child to see it. Red flag number one was that they didn't even know I was coming. Red flag number two was the two idiots in the front speaking in Spanish assuming I didn't understand, going back and forth regarding who was going to show me around. Last red flag, was them rejecting me and my son, lying to my face saying there isn't any space for him. How is there no space and the class sizes are small due to it being a new location? Also, why tour me then? I feel like they just wrote me off because my son was a little fidgety wanting to look around like any 2 yr. old. This place is unprofessional and unkind.
