Phenomenal team of people at Farnum doing very important work. This epidemic is a big problem here…read morein NH and Cheryl and the team are working hard to give people the help that they need.

I completed detox, and after I moved to the women's residential in Manchester at farnum…read more this was my second time here. I completed detox about a month prior and was scheduled to go to farnum north in Franklin; also known as the "Ray House", but my insurance wouldn't cover so I was discharged. anyway, I wanted to go to farnum again because my experience in detox last time was a positive one. so I went back, completed detox, and moved next door to residential, which has 10-12 female beds, compared to Franklin which has 25+. I was excited to stay in Manchester this time, needless to say. my first day was nerve wracking, as I expected. by day 2, I was more comfortable with the girls there. i was assigned a counselor, but she was out due to being sick, etc. anyway, I learned that all the meds the doctor at farnum prescribes you while you are in detox, besides Suboxone, carry over with you into res. and as your meds get low, an order is put in, and you continuously take these meds throughout your stay. I was prescribed a higher dose, and given a lower mg version of the medication, so I had to take twice the amount which ultimately led to me running out of meds quickly. I was told by staff she would see that the order is put in. next day is the day after Christmas, and the facility is considered closed. then we have the weekend, then Monday, which is an observed holiday, and is also closed. I found out I'd be out of meds for 3-4 days as a result and i started feeling withdrawals from the medication and getting sick because multiple girls had undiagnosed bronchitis from the sick counselor who was out on leave.. 3 girls were escorted/ driven to urgent care and all came back with scripts for inhalers and antibiotics for bronchitis. they were also told they couldn't get their meds for 3-4 days, unless they had someone to pick up/ drop off their scripts for them. at least thats what we were told. then another staff member tells us the next day there is another solution. staff has the ability to pick up our scripts from the pharmacy, just have the doc fax your scripts over there. but that didn't happen either... as these girls go longer without meds, more of us start getting sick. 3 more need to go to urgent care, and 1 of the girls is 32 weeks pregnant; she just returned from urgent care a day + ago with back pain, she was 1 centimeter dilated and ordered to rest. we tell staff on duty we want to go to urgent care and she advises us to walk. I was more shocked they had us walk without supervision. god forbid this girl goes into labor and it's just 3 of us... anyone could have easily brought something back of the illicit nature as well. it seemed like our needs as clients were completely disregarded. the doctor at farnum prescribed me all the meds I was taking. whys it so hard to get? the facility should have someone on call for things like this. why wouldn't staff call? I was consistently told I had to wait, along with an additional 5 girls who were sick or needed meds. after 3 days, it's Monday. but is considered an observed holiday. im in pain, fatigued, and now I'm like sick-sick too. I didn't want to participate and wanted to lay down. not so bad though. should see the doctor tomorrow and get my meds, right? that's what I was told.. nope! just kidding!! residential only gets to see the doctor on Mondays and Fridays!! but it's a holiday so.... he's not in? gotta wait 5 more days! then, that same doctor they told me wasn't there came into the women's unit and walked right past me. so he was there... but detox unit was the area of focus so I guess I'm screwed? if I had a PCP this wouldn't have been a problem otherwise. I was uneducated and didn't know you could experience withdrawal symptoms from this medication. what's the point? why go to treatment, just to have your body be physically addicted to another substance when you leave? there were several other conflicts. overall, I started to notice the complete lack of communication between staff, and their inability get their shit together. additionally, I felt like myself and several others' needs were treated with disregard and disrespect. I quickly started feeling like as a client of this treatment facility, I was not receiving the proper treatment and staff could care less - im disgusted. - the answer was usually like "I'll ask", "let me see", or whatever gets them off the hook so they can work less/ do nothing. conveniently enough, they'll leave for the day without getting back to you... it seemed like they made up answers to your questions without any effort to obtain the correct ones. not all the staff are incompetent, but it seems that detox unit is where the most helpful ones are stationed to work. which is probably why both times I had a good experience there..
