My friend, who is an artist, introduced me to this place, and she says that CAW has a strong reputation in the art community. I have zero art background, but I have taken drawing and photography classes here. All the teachers were friendly, enthusiastic, and well-prepared. I felt like I learned a lot and that the teachers were encouraging of beginners. They have a huge variety of classes here including cool stuff I'd like to try like metal sculpture. There are both short workshops (good for artists who are already well-versed in a topic but want to pick up a new technique) and longer classes. The cost is a little pricey, but well-worth it in my opinion. They also have an exhibition space and show really nice artwork there. This past summer, my friend and I went to see a juried show there and it was very good. The Creative Arts Workshop is a fantastic place to learn art and join an artistic community. I can't recommend it highly enough.

In the Perspective Drawing of Buildings and Architecture workshop, Eric March introduced strategies, gave students a chance to experiment, and consulted individually to discuss what works for each person and how to expand skills. His presentation was clear, and his comments were gentle and specific. For me, as a non-professional with some drawing experience, the class was engaging and informative - a delightful way to spend two afternoons. Being able to see and draw things from different perspectives makes drawing more fun and satisfying. As someone who ordinarily is more interested in life than buildings, I also realized the advantage of starting with boxier shapes, knowing that I can apply the same techniques to the animate world now that I have seen how they work. I highly recommend the workshop and other opportunities to work with Eric March.

The volunteer association does a beautiful job maintaining the trails and offering guided hikes at different times of the year or events that are free to the community. The top of the "rock" has phenomenal views of North Haven but is a bit tricky to navigate for about 20 feet. There is even a resident cactus growing at the top on a Rocky outcropping. There are remnants of Peter's Hermitage on the hike down which requires some shimmying. The trails are marked well and there is a map, parking, and a covered picnic area at the park.

They let us know about the layout and the special exhibit. The admission is free. The current World War I exhibit, I felt, was very small and sparse. My friend, a war history buff, said while it was small, it was well sized and even had some artifacts he had never seen in person before, so kudos to the curators for that. There's a huge hall for the permanent exhibit about Knights of Columbus itself: lots of photos and a timeline of key events. It was tough for me to get engrossed in this material since I tend to like more artifacts, but for those interested in its history, this exhibit is a must.

However, the basic history of the Knights and how they came about was there. That is what I was looking for. I wanted to know more of the history. If you are a Catholic or have a Knight in your life, I would make time for this museum. A small gift shop that has many books, rosaries, etc. Near the Yale campus and can spend about a hour. Glad I got to experience and learn more history of the organization.

The latest incident where a dog suffering from severe kennel stress bit a volunteer. This dog was euthanized. The volunteer returned to dog walking in two months with a small scar, no defensive wounds, and believes she spooked the dog.

Had issues filling out the form (asked for the names of any old pets). We we told to just put my partners family cat. I guess the shelter gets a vet recommendation, which makes sense. However, the pet we listed passed away years ago and the vet no longer had records. We've been trying to get clarity on how to adopt as first time owners and the buck just keeps getting passed to the next person at the shelter or we're told we'll hear back and never do. Entire shelter seems disorganized. Don't you want to place these pets into loving homes?

Besides also having a negative application experience as the other reviewers here have had (in retrospect we should have seen that as a red flag and abandoned the entire idea of adopting from them), we found the rescue does not properly vet their animals beyond a very basic physical exam and spay/neuter prior to being available for adoption, and they do not provide actual medical records when the animals are adopted out. Our family should have spent those first couple of months creating joyful memories with our new companion, not spending thousands at the hospital only to have to say goodbye due to a terminal illness that our vet and the hospital advised would have been caught if the rescue had run proper bloodwork prior to putting the pet up for adoption. We believe the rescue means well, but they clearly do not have the infrastructure, funds, or personnel to properly care for all the animals they are trying to save.

My daughter was an instructor here and everything was completely last minute, rosters, bus numbers for kids, the first official day June 28th kids were still waiting and staff were still working until after 6:30!!!! All because the two main instructors of this organization Stephanie Leaphart And Barbara Alexander didn't have any of their sh*t together. The whole first week everyday it was almost the same thing not knowing where kids needed to be, making them miss busses, and staff still working later than clock out time.

The need is immense in todays trying and expensive times. In addition to that they are helping to avoid clothing going into landfills. After volunteering here I will kindly recommend that you wash all clothing before donating. Volunteers will sort through to make sure only clothing with no rips/stains move on to be donated. All other clothing gets sent to a facility to be used in textile recycling or thrift store use which the organization receives money for so they can purchase much needed clothing items.

The baby has been there for a week and loves it, easy transition, and we are comfortable leaving here as well. They're still employed after physically harming children. Do not enroll your child. The care my child while enrolled in the twos classroom has been unacceptable. As an educator, your job is to teach, manage emotions, redirect, and provide language to those who do not have it. My child was dealt with aggression by his teachers in the twos classroom. They belittle, mishandle and sometimes ignore the children. I saw on live video, One of the teachers blocked her face with her hand, while a child was crying in front of her. I understand challenging behaviors can be frustrating but it's never your job to apply force to anyone's kid. If your goal isn't to make a difference in the early stages of development, then this is not the place for you and you should not be working with kids of any age group. There are teachers who witness this treatment and do not speak up. The twos classroom consists of Andreana Stevenson, Angelique Clark and Jasmin Cardona. Sometimes Chantal is in these classrooms and she also should not be around children, she has fallen asleep while on the clock. The cameras aren't monitored enough by management, they do not pop into classes enough.
