Folklorico Dance Performance in Mrs. Wickham's classroom

We truly feel like we won the jackpot when we found New Hope Preschool for my older daughter. Small class sizes and extremely caring and kind teachers. My older daughter went there for the 2022-2023 school year in the dual language class! My younger daughter went this past year (2023-24). We couldn't have been more happier with the teachers and staff at New Hope! Ms Wendy, Ms Wickham and Ms Johana were so attentive to my daughters' needs as this was their first experience at a school setting and they often need some extra support and encouragement. Mrs Wickham even had some fun and unique experiences that she organized for her classroom, including folklorico dance, butterfly releases, a teddy bear picnic and more! We are so lucky to have found New Hope for preschool. Even the classrooms feel homey and are very clean! Highly recommend to any families looking for a great preschool! Ms Tammy, the preschool director, was always so helpful at answering any of my questions, great at communicating upcoming events and very welcoming! The teachers truly care for each and every child there!

Valentine's Day . Shared card and goodies with friends!

The church is fantastic, and the kids program there for during church services is GREAT and this review is ONLY pertaining to the Eastlake Children's Center preschool which is run M-F. I was very eager to enroll my son in this program. I had heard so many amazing things about this program and it was an added bonus that we love our church. I even provided paperwork to this program when my son was approximately 1 year old (they don't take kids until they are 2 but I wanted to ensure we were not waitlisted as I had read that they were such a popular program). My son finally was enrolled this July for the 2024-25 school year. When he started he was fully potty trained. As school started it was clear there was some new school year kinks needing to be worked out regarding organization and teachers. I tried to remain positive and provide grace when a new teacher I had never met would be giving me my child without an ID check. My son immediately had potty accidents. More than when he started training. I thought this was simply because there are no potty's in the classrooms as typical 2 year rooms have at most programs. Assuming it's just a distance to potty adjustment we proceeded on. However, my son started hitting himself and yelling at himself in the potty when he was home saying "YOU GO POTTY IN TOILET NOT POTTY IN PANTS!" then would hit his leg. He's never behaved in this way. It broke my heart. I spoke to Ms. Jeanette at the front about how I think the teachers may be yelling at him and stressing him out about the bathroom here, and it's affecting us at home. They started making me put pullups on him (which we have NEVER done). The accidents never got better. I could never talk to his teacher because his main teacher was only there from 830-12 with him. Because he was a full time kid, I would be picking him up from different random teachers all the time. Some wouldn't even know which kid was mine when I said his name even thought he had been at the school a month at this point. About 2 weeks into school I picked my son up (again from a random teacher I've never met the 2 weeks prior to this) and he had a huge scrape on his forehead, as if he had fallen head first on cement. My son has been in a daycare setting since he was a baby, so I am aware that I should be getting an "ouch report" anytime there is an injury of a child, even if they are unsure how it happened. Once they see an injury, they need to report when that injury was noticed. At his last daycare I would also get a phone call for any head injuries. I got nothing here. However, it's only the 2nd week of school and I just let it go and chalked it up to the new school year situation. New teachers etc. About a week and a half later I picked my son up and he had a scrape on his nose that was bloody and thick. I didn't say anything to the teacher at pick up because when I gave the name of my child I had to point at which child he was for her to know who to give me. (again terrible security and no ID was checked). If she doesn't know my kid by his name, she def doesn't know what happened to his nose. No ouch report. Since I was already waiting to hear back from the director via email regarding my request to meet with her, I decided I would bring it up then. Then, the very next day my son had yet a THIRD scratch on his face with no ouch report. As I walked out I stopped to talk to Ms. Jeanette (I think she's the assistant director?) and I told her this is the 3rd time in 2 weeks my son has bloody marks/scratches on his face with no ouch report. All she said was "yeah you should have an ouch report" and that was it. I was hoping for "well let's contact his teacher and figure out what's happening" or "maybe we can ask the teachers to see if they set it somewhere besides his cubby" or "I will talk to the teachers and figure out what's going on" but she didn't seem to care at all. She took no worry to this. Again, I've had my son in daycare settings for a while, so I am not one of those overly paranoid parents, but the lack of concern for my son's safety, especially regarding facial injuries frequently over a short period was alarming. I immediately pulled him from the program, and reported them to state licensing. My son had been in school there only 1 month. During the time I enrolled him officially in February 2024 until the day I pulled him from the program there were THREE licensing violations- one of which was a teacher physically abusing children and another was a teacher leaving a child alone on the playground! This program used to be the best around. There was a change in the leadership of the preschool a couple years back, and needless to say the program is NOT what it used to be. My husband said that most times he picked our son u

This was in a very nice air conditioned, newly remodeled auditorium. He is my second grandchild to graduate from this school, we still have one more to go and a handful of nieces & nephews who also attend. So overall we have been coming here to school performances and Holiday shows since my eldest grandson started here in 2011. He is now in High School at Mater Dei. I was a bit reticent when they started going to this school because I would have preferred them to attend a Catholic private school. Because we are Catholic. But as usual time has proven me wrong. The wonderful academic excellence and innovation, that this school provides has showed me that, the right choice was made. I see how happy and well rounded my grandkids have become. They are into sports, music; one plays the cello incredibly well. It seems that this school places a high priority on individual achievements, probably due to the 13:1 student teacher ratio. All of this with the added benefit of providing a moral education along with the academic one. The school is very well maintained, and the staff is incredible. Grandparents are treated as special guests; we even have a special day when the kids perform just for us. So, in my humble opinion this is one of, if not the finest private pre-school to 8th grade school in Chula Vista. I am a fan and I guess always have been. I highly recommend this illustrious private school!

The teachers and staff are incredibly attentive and caring. They celebrate milestones and traditions with such thoughtfulness, and their attention to detail really shows in the way they approach both academics and social-emotional development. It is clear that every child is seen, valued, and supported here. Our oldest daughter attended for 3 years and her transition into kindergarten was seamless. She was not only academically prepared but also socially and emotionally ready to thrive in a new setting. Now that she is in elementary school, we continue to see the lasting benefits of her Montessori foundation; she is confident, independent, and loves learning. Our younger child is currently enrolled, and he comes home happy and excited every single day. At such a young age, we can already see how he is flourishing, gaining independence, and building a genuine love for school. Choosing Growing Minds has been one of the best decisions we've made for our children's education and growth. For families looking for a school that combines strong academics with a truly loving and supportive environment, we wholeheartedly recommend Growing Minds.

I am a foster mom and had two boys that attended COLA, one of them graduated last year and the little one was still there. We see everybody at the school 3 days a week and bio mom takes him to class two days a week. This arrangement went on for an entire year. On 7/14, we dropped off our boy to his last day of pre-k. My husband picked him up early to bring him home and get him ready for his ceremony and at 11:47 I receive I text message from my husband asking if I noticed a scratch and bruise on his face. I had not noticed any scratches or bruises but I remember taking a video of him that morning eating breakfast and took pictures of him before he went to school and those injuries were not there. He came home with a very noticeable scratch on his lower lip, a scratch above his lip and a bruise on the other side of his face. By this I had already sent the director and the owner a text asking what had happened at school and why we weren't notified. I was very upset and asked to find out what had happened. When my husband was at the school the director told him that my boy said it happened at home but he told my husband it happened outside during one of the recess breaks. When I asked my boy, he said that a teacher was there, he cried and also a student was there. The owner responded to my text by saying "we will take it up with his mom thank you". That was not the answer I was expecting, I wanted an answer. My boy just came home with his face messed up on his final day. Any parent would be concerned and want answers right away. I called the bio mom and let her know what had happened, since we had already agreed to meet at the school at 1 I told her I would see her there and we could speak with the owner and try to find out what happened. During that exchange, the owner would not speak to my husband as well. I understand that bio-mom is the legal person that the owner has to notify and speak to but it is not up to the owner to deny speaking at all when it was obvious that the bio-mom wanted us there and had no issue with us hearing what had happened. Bio-mom consented to us being there so the owner had no right to deny us information or to make that decision for bio-mom. I believe that the owner only wanted to speak to bio-mom because she knows that she could easily intimidate, manipulate, or talk down to her which she can't get away with when speaking to us. From the point when the owner first arrived at the school, she was more concerned with ignoring us and being disrespectful then to actually show any concern about the boy. Not once did she look at him, ask about him, or inquire about what had happened. She was more upset about us "demanding" to know what happened than anything else. The owner further stated that the boy getting injured "did not matter" because it was the last day of school. Funny thing was that less than 48 hours before I was yelled at by a teacher during a field trip on a hot day because I was giving my hungry and thirsty boy water and food. A day later, the owner confronted me again about that same incident. Apparently giving water and food to a child does matter but a child getting hurt 48 hours later "does not matter". The owner of COLA and as such has to take ownership when things go wrong. She can't hide behind her bad attitude or want parents to wait over 72 hours later to have a meeting with her. Apparently, she had no time after the ceremony, or Saturday or Sunday to review the video of the incident. She has no people skills to say something to the effect that she is getting prepared for a graduation but will look into the incident immediately thereafter. She constantly escalated the issue instead of being professional. A simple demonstration that she cared about what had happened would have sufficed. She was more upset about us "demanding" to know what happened like this incident was something insignificant. Apparently it was insignificant because in her words, a child getting hurt on the last day of school "does not matter". Some people try to hide their true self behind religion but the owner puts on this façade that she is this caring and nurturing educator and just because she runs a religious school she thinks that those qualities, values, and morals that one associates with religion will somehow be attributed to her as well. People will undoubtedly show their true qualities, values and morals and it took this incident to show her true colors!i
