It is left solely up to the teachers to discipline and handle these behaviors with no support. For example, kindergarten students regularly physically fight each other and some are still not required to be potty trained which results in many accidents in class. When management is called in, the child is rewarded for misbehaving. When behavior escalates and parents are informed, they scream at the management who then get mad at the teachers. If behavioral management isn't a strong skill, I would look somewhere else. Additionally, the management is comprised of four team members. One is amazing, one is competent, one refuses to do her job, to the detriment of the teachers and their curriculum, and one is too obsessed with drama and judgment towards her young, female employees to even realize she has a job. The amount of judging and degrading language I received or overheard from the director is appalling. If you believe she isn't judging you, think again! Unfortunately, jealously is a disease that McDowel cannot find a cure for. Lastly, the veteran teachers are wonderful and kind! My coteacher was a saint! You will be set up for success if paired with one of them. Unfortunately this is not true for all teachers. Many teachers in the younger rooms spend the whole day on their phones and offload all responsibilities onto their coteacher, regardless of if they're the teacher assigned to the room or not. Even during outdoor recess, the prekindergarten teachers will sit out of sight on the wall on their phones rather than make sure the kids are safe, leaving the safety of 24 children solely on you. It is extremely disheartening and dangerous that this is a known issue that is allowed to continue. All in all, there are clear issues that make this job unnecessarily hard, namely unresolved behavioral issues and mean staff members. Aside from the youngest member, do not trust the management. They will use any information you give them to make your work life harder.

We love that the location is free standing and appears very secure and well kept. The hallways are wide, clean and clutter free. The rooms all have a lot of windows and are well lit. There are age appropriate toys that do not look old or too worn. I consistently see money being put back into the property and the classrooms such as new ride on toys in the early toddler rooms and large touch screen computers in the preschool rooms. This location is definitely not convenient for us and, trust me, we have looked at several other daycare options that would be much closer to our home and work (more than once) but nothing ever compares to Primrose School of Leawood! We have been very happy here.

She'll turn your baby into a toddler which you will love/hate :p I also have older that went here and I can say that Mrs. Jeanette and Mrs. Jessica were quickly favored. Even the teachers aids are great. They always put up new photos and charts to show what the kids have been doing and if I have any issues the director Stephanie, and the assistant director Gretchen are are wonderful, attentive leaders who get down in the trenches with their co-workers. I got on Yelp originally to look for a new day care that was closer to my house. Instead I noticed there were no reviews for this day care. I having gone here for so long I decided to write one. After saying all I have stay, I don't care how far it is I wouldn't trust anyone else with my children.

During our time we watched all of our daughter's infant teachers leave, her two toddler teachers quit and multiple other teachers left as well. The new staff she has hired are constantly on their phones and are unfriendly to parents and the students. We witnessed a child left outside unattended and no report was ever filed as well as teachers yelling at older students. Our daughter and 2 other girls all started saying "hurt" and referencing their private parts. Do not under any circumstance send your child here if you care about their health and safety.

The class sizes are much smaller than the public schools in the Kansas City metro, the teachers are very involved with the kids, and the principal is very hands-on with the school. And because of this, it is always at the top of elementary schools in the state of Kansas based on the KSDE report cards and test scores, which we confirmed. I highly recommend this school for an excellent start to a child's education.

They have diverse programs to promote learning and development for all ages. They use a wide variety of strategies to create opportunities for experiential learning and they make it fun. I really appreciate the library and the traveling artist. They really promote music learning as well. Most of all, when we've sat down for parent teacher conferences, it's clear that our son's classroom teachers really see him for who he is and meet him exactly where he is at. We encountered issues and when we addressed them with the director, we were given excuse after excuse and things continued to deteriorate. Then, a new child in our child's class started biting other children including our daughter, and sometimes it happened every day. The director's way of handling the situation was to 'continue to train the staff and monitor the child more closely.' Needless to say, the behavior continued and then they started removing the child who was being bitten (not the child who was actually biting other children) and taking them to a younger classroom so they had to miss out on the activities happening in their class. We finally had to remove our daughter from this center when it became clear that nothing was going to be done to protect the children being victimized by another child who had displayed a clear pattern of behavior that needed to be handled in a more deliberate fashion but went largely ignored. Another child who was being victimized was also removed from the center about the same time as our daughter by her parents because they were met with the same response from the director. Our daughter was also constantly sick, which may be a given when a bunch of children are together all day. However, it resulted in her having to have surgery and she was STILL sick all the time afterwards. Now that she is no longer attending this center, she no longer struggles with being sick constantly. And, of course, when we addressed this concern with the director, we were met with excuses. The main root of the problem at this center is that the director is incapable, or simply unwilling, of actually solving problems, and instead resorts to blaming the staff and making excuses to placate the parents. The teaching staff did everything they could to help us with this situation but their hands were tied since the director wouldn't do anything about it. The turnover rate at this center is ridiculously high, and is reportedly due to the director making it a hostile workplace that teachers don't want to work in. There are also reports of infestations of mice and cockroaches in the buildings.

Angie answered all of our questions and informed us with plenty of packets about the daycare. My kids are still going to this day and they are 2 and 5. Angie has hired excellent staff and my kids have learned so much. They never complain when it is time to go to daycare. Kim and Bailey are in the infant room and they are an excellent fit for the babies. Jessica is in the 1s and she is a sweetheart as well as Miranda in the 2s room. Angie is also great with communication about the kids through out the day if I have any questions. I highly recommend SCC.
