i went here for preschool almost 14 years ago and it was awful, I remember there were two teachers one was a Hispanic lady and the other was a heavier old lady with glasses, they were incredibly combative and would yell a lot especially the lady with the glasses. I dreaded going here everyday, even after I graduated prek my parents still made me go here after school in kindergarten and everytime I'd see the daycare bus i would start bawling. read more

We have been with NHA at this location for almost 3 years - currently with 2 children. Even through some of the bumpy milestones and transitions I am in awe of the way Ms Terra handles everything on a day to day basis. Ms Mackenzie doesn't miss a step when Terra is out. The teachers truly care about your children - in any of the rooms. We have been in the infants/twos/threes and going into fours and especially right now I would have no qualms about my kids being in any of the rooms. So many teachers are tenured and have the experience needed to keep the kids engaged, learning and productive. They were so accommodating and great to work with for potty training. We were initially really excited about this place, enrolled our 1y old, and stayed for 4 months, this was our experience: The staff told us that they sanitize the toys regularly, but we didn't see much cleaning happening during our time there. There was once when I arrived for drop off that I saw for myself the floors had been cleaned, because all of the furniture was stacked up and moved. I picked her up one day (her last day because we immediately pulled her after this) her "water" cup was so cloudy you couldn't see through it and smelled like a fish tank. I know kids get sick at daycare, but not a single day went by that my daughter was not sick in some way while there. We went through rounds of antibiotics and doctors visits, nothing helped, because most of the kids in her class seemed to have a runny nose or horrible sounding cough and were just passing it around. Since starting her new daycare, she is no longer sick all the time, only occasionally. So it seems that her being sick was more due to the facility's lack of cleanliness and not her. Some of the teachers that work there are very caring, and I felt bad for them because they were clearly understaffed and they were trying their best, but seemed stressed out. Other staff do not seem to care at all that they are caring for peoples children. When I came in for pick up, I would after stand and watch the security cameras on the TV in the front entrance for a moment to check in. Twice I saw my child crying to the point of hyperventilating, and the staff that were supposed to be watching her class were sitting on the floor and staring off into space, and did not even seem to notice that she was upset. This was not her main teacher, who already left and the staff were covering for her. I brought this to the attention of the Director, who assured me that she would take care of it. A few days later, the same thing happened again. I asked if I could review security camera footage with the Director to see why my child was crying or for how long before I came in, but she said that that was not allowed. I checked their official policy, and she was right, it's not allowed for "safety reasons". WHY. Why is a parent not allowed to review footage of their own child? I didn't ask to receive a copy of it, I didn't ask to take pictures of it or record it. I just asked to see it. Not allowed. She said she would review the footage, and told me what happened. But I was not allowed to see for myself. One day I was leaving after dropping my daughter off and the Director stopped me and started laughing and asked if my daughters teachers told me the funny thing that happened other day. I replied with no, and she went on to tell me that A FEW DAYS AGO my daughter found a dead squirrel out in the playground and was carrying it around like a stuffed animal and that they really upset her when they took it away because it was so funny how she was treating it like a little baby. I am not even that upset that that happened, it was an accident. NO ONE TOLD ME! No one told me until a few days later that my child was in close contact with a dead wild animal while under their care. Thankfully, she didn't contract any illness or disease that that squirrel could've been carrying. I would much rather know that an accident happened, than feel like they're hiding stuff. Especially when they tell me that I can't look at security footage. I get that accidents happen, but you have to tell the parents what is going on with their own kid. After the water cup incident, we immediately pulled my child and I sent an email explaining why. I was hoping that the Director would take this incident and use it to better her facility, but she did not even bother to reply with a single "I'm sorry" It's been a week and a half and still no reply. read more

I've been taking my son to new horizon for almost a year now and absolutely love it. They have taught him so much, they follow a curriculum and have interactive activities for the children to do. The staff is also really good at communicating with you throughout the day and updating you with pictures. I just had a baby 3 months ago and she just started at new horizon as well, I was nervous at first to have her In a daycare as a young age but again, the staff is amazing at communication and easing your anxiety, and so patient and loving to my little ones. This facility is full of bright colors and seems like such a happy, inviting environment. I really couldn't ask for a better experience. read more

I highly DO NOT recommend sending your child here, especially if they are too young to communicate.(Unless you want them to develop behavioral or mental health issues). I am a child behavioral therapist (unbeknownst to them) and was appalled at the things I witnessed at this school with my child during pick and drop off daily. I frequently witnessed teachers yelling at kids and grabbing them aggressively as means to maintain control. Many of them lacking the patience that is required when working with young children. I've seen kids walk out of the door multiple times without the teacher noticing til I came and notified them. I've seen kids being aggressive with one another and the teachers just standing there letting it happen while the child is scared and upset. Their documentation on their app is falsified as we forgot to check our child out some days and they'd continue to mark diaper changes, etc. The teachers clearly have little to no training with kids. While there were a couple teachers that we appreciated, most of the them don't stay very long. It's a constant revolving door of staff. When concerns were brought to staff we never received much care or resolution. My husband walked in to pick up our daughter one day and witnessed a staff member aggressively grabbing our 2 year olds arms while forcing her to pick up books and screaming at her as she cried. Little did they know my husband was at the door watching and let the woman know how unacceptable it was as she frantically apologized. We reached out to the director with minimal care or response or resolution from them. Our daughter would scream and cry at drop off every day seeming terrified and began having really bad tantrums and behaviors at home. Upon pick up our child would run to us crying of relief. We were concerned but the teachers would say she was "doing good" and not give much else. Now we have her a new daycare and after only a week she is so excited to go in and comes home happy every day, is already learning a ton more, and all her challenging behaviors are now gone and our happy girl is back read more

What this facility lacks in polish, it more than makes up for in quality of care. They've taken excellent care of our 1 year old. He's always excited to arrive in the morning, and in a great mood when we pick him up in the afternoon. His teachers are loving, attentive and professional. They do an excellent job of keeping us updated throughout the day using the Procare app, and everyone who works here seems genuinely happy to be here. Childcare is expensive in general, but the peace of mind they provide us here, and the joy they bring to our little boy, is priceless. read more

We have had our daughter in New Horizon Academy since we moved to the area about 3 months ago. After visiting many daycares in the area and being extremely disappointed in the childcare options, we were so so excited to find New Horizon. Amber the director was so kind and thoroughly answered all questions/concerns we had. The facility is clean, warm, and very secure. Our daughter just loves going to school every day! Since being enrolled here she has learned so many new things including a bit of sign language! Miss Kaylee is such a great transition twos teacher. She is always communicating with us patents on what the kids are doing during the day and even sends pictures through the app! Not only does she care for them on a child care level, but she teaches them a new subject every month and always has art projects for them to do that correspond with the theme. My two sons attend new horizons academy- meridian location. The director Terra from day one on the phone gave me a full run down and answered so many of my questions and I was impressed! I toured the school with terra and the assistant director McKenzie who both took lots of time to answer all my questions! I love this school it's so beautiful, big classrooms, awesome play yard outside and a kitchen with an amazing cook that makes healthy meals- breakfast and lunch with snacks everyday! Ms Isabel and Ms robin are getting my sons Kindergarten ready it's incredible! Ms Taylor and Ms Katie have really expanded my sons vocabulary!! They really love their teachers and friends. After a few months I saw how happy both were my sons were that I wanted to be a part of the school! So I recently began teaching here in the ones classroom with ms Marissa and love working with her she has great experience and I've learned so much! Terra and McKenzie are amazing at taking their time everyday to talk about our classrooms and direct myself with anything I may need help with- very helpful with making sure the children are happy! My husband and I were skeptics when we realized child care was needed with our demanding work schedules. Neither of us went to day care growing up and we were worried about the quality of care our son would receive. We were both pleasantly surprised and our strong advocates of New Horizon and their program. We have been going to the Meridian location for over two years now, and have seen how much our child has learned within that time. The structure is so great for him, he actually gets sad when the weekend comes and he can't see his "friends". He is constantly learning new things and comes home everyday with a report of what he did, which is great because I can not personally pick him up, so this is my only way of recapping his day. I would say my only complaint is that the staff definitely at times has lack of communication with each other. I try to be understanding, as I realize there are many children to keep tabs on, but it can be frustrating when you feel like you have to repeat yourself or hunt down belongings that have gone missing. read more

I recently enrolled my daughter in the program as she is navigating into toddler stages. I will say I was very nervous coming out of a pandemic and she's never been around anyone but me (mom). I went back and forth for months trying to decide if this was the right decision. I can honestly say I'm so thankful I did. My daughters teachers. Ms Marisa and Ms Jessica are honestly amazing. My daughter is not verbal yet but I will tell you after only one month of being there she is coming home trying to talk more and more already. I can honestly say I don't ever want them to leave her. Our son loves the staff and I have never been mis informed and the app they update throughout the day is so helpful for a protective parent...I love this place. STEER FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE Last week, my daughters attended the Meridian, ID location. Within less than 4 days, I pulled them out. This location neglected my daughters. I heavily informed the staff on their first day, as well as when I did the video tour, that my youngest who's 3 has autism and LOVES to play with water. Two indicators that she needs to be heavily watched. When I picked her up on Monday (3/22/21) her sleeves from her wrist to her shoulder, were soaking wet. The woman in that classroom notified me she had gotten into the toilet and played with the water. Firstly, the weather isn't exactly warm, and second, so my daughter is walking around with toilet water soaking her sleeves and nobody thought to change her? We had packed an extra pair of clothes for her in her bag. Day 2 (3/23/21) SAME ISSUE. However, there was additional neglect, they didn't change her well before she needed a diaper change, her pants weren't wet from toilet water, they were wet from urine from her diaper soaking through. Their excuse "if we knew she drank a lot of water, we would have changed her before the 2 hour window and we would have checked her more often." ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Their job isn't to wait for a clock to tell them when my little girl needs to be changed, their job is to take care of my little girl as well as others and MAKE SURE she gets changed well before her diaper is loaded with urine. And let me be clear, two hours doesn't cause my little girl to have a diaper big enough to soak through, she sleeps through the night without that happening, which tells me it was far longer then two hours. She SMELLED like urine when I picked her up, THEN when I said something, the woman offered to change her. I was pissed to say the least. Day 3, (3/24/21) FINALLY she is clean when I pick her up, doesn't smell like urine, isn't soaking, and has dry clothes on. However, when we dropped her off, she screamed because she didn't want to be there, that said a lot to me. She LOVES school, every school I have had her at before I had to go get her to come home because she didn't want to leave. So at this point, not only was she screaming to not let me leave her there, but she had been neglected the first two days with no valid reasoning for it, a child should NEVER be neglected. On top of that, my oldest daughter, who also used to wake up and request going to school every day at her former schools, cried from not wanting to stay at this school, again something that my children never do. The final straw that broke my heart even more, when I went to pick up my oldest because I couldn't bare to leave either of them at this place anymore, she was sitting on a children's couch with her bag next to her and sucking her thumb, which she only does when she needs to comfort herself because no one else will, she looked like she was waiting to go home. My daughter looked DEPRESSED, and she has never a day in her life looked that miserable. There were no teachers there trying to console her, make her feel included, or be there for her in any capacity. In fact, they were at the other side of the room and didn't even care to notice. One of the mornings we dropped the girls off, 3 of the women were standing in the corner with their backs turned to the kids, not paying attention and giggling. When I went to go pull my kids out, I was kind to the directors, but inside I was fuming. I was taught to not lose it on people, but it would have been well deserved. When I requested a refund for the few days my kids were there, the director told me that it was nonrefundable. So, for 3 1/2 days of neglect to my children, I can't be refunded, seriously? That is unbelievable. If you have proper standards for how your children should be cared for, avoid this place. read more

Our baby goes to New Horizon for a year now and we couldn't be happier. We love how secure the daycare is, requiring ID and a secret access code to enter the premises. The teachers are well versed in childhood education and are patient with the kids from what I've seen. Rates are fair, typical for a daycare but you get what you pay for. High quality care. Special shout-out to Miss Paty, Miss Erika and Miss Ashley. They have been so wonderful to our princess. Miss Amber is a wonderful director and always helpful answering questions. If you are looking for a great environment for your baby this is your place. If you want constant communication on how your baby is doing through out the day this is your place. If you want a learning and fun atmosphere for your baby when she or he is away from you this is your place. My girl and I researched and visited many other daycares for our new born Cadence, some were cheaper to be honest with you, however they were not as great as New Horizon (you get what you pay for), the staff at New horizon makes us feel like our baby is in the safest and greatest hands outside of ours. From the Manager Amber who is always full of joy as you come in, to the teachers Miss Lyli, Miss Athena, Miss Kaylee, Miss Erika and now Miss Ashlee, these ladies do an amazing job taking care of our baby and we are so happy to have found a safe and awesome daycare for our baby girl. Miss Briana, Miss Erika and Miss Lily ALL are so wonderful and care so much about the babies. Our daughter had a rough start to daycare at 3 months with refusing a bottle -- they were very patient and understanding through this transition and now she takes a bottle like a champ! We also had to get a helmet at 7 months which requires some additional attention and care needs and they have REALLY worked with us to make our daughter as comfortable as possible. My husband and I were looking for a new daycare after being at our old daycare for nearly five years. We needed a place that would challenge our children to learn more and grow in ways that hadn't been presented to them previously. Before my tour was done at New Horizons in Meridian, I knew that this was the place I had been searching for. Their classrooms were setup to welcome and stimulate the students, to encourage interaction with others, and to allow room for personal growth. The teachers were kind and friendly and genuinely wanted to know about my children and how they could best teach and encourage them. The meal program promoted healthy options and there was lots of opportunity for outside play time. One of the things I liked the most was their use of a parent interaction program called Daily Connect. Teachers can post pictures and happenings that my kids participate in that I can see throughout the day- whether on my desktop or my smart phone. I also like that they offer a wide variety of summer field trips that my oldest son will participate in, from educational tours to craft-store and water park visits to community service. In the weeks that my children have been attending NHA, I have seen so much growth and positive change in them. They don't want to leave their friends and teachers when i pick them up, but are eager to tell me about all they did that day. I am positive that we choose the right place for our family! read more

The infant room here is fantastic. Miss Patti and Miss Erika are the absolute best. my son was always well cared for, happy and they were great about updating the app, sending pictures, letting me know of any concerns, loved it! I always felt super comfortable leaving him. Then he started to transition into the 1&2's class and after only attending 4 half days in the class (he was only going once a week). I withdrew him from their school all together. I got called to pick him up early three times. The third and final time they called me to go get him early, I arrived around 3 and he had not been given any food or water since 8:00 that morning because, "he napped early and slept through lunch", a one year old slept through lunch so he wasn't fed... He was dehydrated and completely out of it. I still don't think I was given the entire story because when I dropped him off at 7:30 that morning he was fine, happy and healthy but by that afternoon he was completely out of it. He didn't recognize me, he just stared off into space and laid in my arms completely limp. It was devastating that I had trusted them with my son and they couldn't even care for him for half the day. I immediately took him to the doctor to make sure he was ok, gave him all the fluids he would take and small amounts of food, again as he would take it and he slowly came around. I cannot begin to describe how devastated and guilty I felt for letting my son go here. Again the infant room was great but if you are looking for 1 &2s care DO NOT go here.
