When I asked why, he would tell me the name of one teacher who just made him feel unsafe. I came to learn that anytime my son had to be around Ms. Nevi that he would do what he could to leave the immediate area. I also noticed little things that she would say or do didn't always add up. I cherish the memories we have from Starbright and was really looking forward to my second baby going there- but I couldn't continue to keep my son in a place with a teacher that he would scream in discomfort about.

The amazing director, Jen, was incredibly supportive and communicative, which eased any concerns we had as parents. Each teacher we encountered was kind, patient, and truly exceptional. We always looked forward to drop-off and pick-up times because the atmosphere was so warm and inviting. The gentle parenting sessions they offered laid a strong foundation for us at home and were also reflected in the classroom. Overall, every element of the program was thoughtfully designed and incredibly beneficial. We have recommended Starbright to friends over the years, and one of them is still enrolled! We are sad that this is my 4 year old daughter's last year but I am such a proud parent that my daughter can read and do math before she enters kindergarten. I can't wait to see my 2 year old develop his education at the white House preschool. He is already comfortable with his alphabets, numbers, colors and shapes and they are already teaching him how to write his name! All the kids love Ms. Linda. The teachers are doing their best to create a supportive environment, and my kids have improved their language and social skills since starting. Needless to say, it was a less than great experience. I had heard from multiple people (even a mom at Papa Murphy's) about Prince of Peace, but had already paid the $500 non-refundable registration fee for the private school. I wish I would have just ate that money and started her at POP to begin with. We ended up switching her to Prince of Peace half way through that year and it made a world of difference. She was, and still is, so excited to go to school and comes home every day with art and schoolwork that she can't wait to show off. The staff is very kind. From the teachers, to the assistants, to the office admin... they are so caring. The preschool itself is always clean, bright and inviting. Mrs. Young is a total blessing. She's great with the kids and has a very direct, no nonsense attitude without being scary. We love her and we love this preschool!

Snohomish County needs to make more Center-Based Early Head Start Programs, and make center-based programs that are based off of income. It's not right to make center-based Head Start Programs only for children 3-5 years old. I know 3-5 is preschool age, but come on, if your trying to support children of ALL ages physically, mentally, and socially, then make Center-Based Programs for children of all ages 0-5 years and have each classroom for a different age group...one classroom for infants, a few different classrooms for toddlers and a couple for 3-5 years old (preschool-aged children). On the other hand, I have to compare. I've been living in Spokane, WA for 15 months; however, I plan on moving back to the westside so I'm closer to family. I currently have my 15-month-old daughter in a Center-Based Early Head Start program here, and she's been in a Center-Based program since I moved here in May 2021...my daughter was 3 months old when she started, and they're very supportive of her, especially socially since she's around other kids. Overall, whoever is in charge of the Early Head Start Programs in Snohomish County, I'd like to make a complaint due to the unsupportive service and have them make more center-based programs. There's more support in a center-based program than a home-based program, especially in the social development side.

Although we miss our ITS very much, we are very grateful for the advocacy, fun, inspiration and compassion we were fortunate enough to experience. I walked in at a random time the other day and they were all in a pile with the teacher yelling out shapes as she pulled them out together giggling. I frequently pick up at non normal hours and see the kids dancing, reading with the teachers, playing cars, etc in the afternoon. They listen and have great response time when I have questions. My son was 2.5 and my daughter was 6 months old. Since this was their first time in daycare, they inevitably got sick all the time! But this is to be expected anywhere. Discovery Childcare was clean, safe and well managed. Both kids loved attending. They were pretty good about updating the app and sending photos and activity reports. The staff was friendly, and went out of their way to make sure the kids were happy and healthy. When they were sick and had to stay home, they always asked me how the kids were doing. They have lots of toys and activities, and a fun outdoor area for recess. While they would benefit from a swing set / better play area, but my son loved going to preschool and would even ask to go on the weekends! My daughter felt safe there, and the staff treated her like their own. Often times I would walk in and the lobby would smell like fresh baked cookies. From the outside it may not look like much, but these are good people, and I highly recommend.
