With COVID having affected and changed so many lives in more ways than one since March 2020 (well…read moreover a year now as of this writing), psychologists and therapists have been in such high demand! I came across DalyBeth and Positive Health Hawaii after searching around for places that had openings and/or were accepting new patients, which as expected was super hard to come by and especially within a short time. Having been living alone and hardly able to see the closest friends for the last year now along with dealing with lots of tension within another organization that I'm working for on a part-time basis, I've been trying to seek help with my mental health and depression that has literally taken its toll on my life, I am very thankful for DalyBeth! She has been willing to listen to my situation and stories and has made plenty of helpful suggestions on helping myself relieve stress from my life. Now although I haven't gotten to some of them quite yet and admittedly may not be comfortable doing certain ones just yet, I've taken lots of notes and been trying to put her advice to great use. I'll definitely be consulting with DalyBeth periodically and again very soon, and hopefully I'll get to meet her in-person. A friend recommended Dr. Yurie to me, and I'm really grateful they did. From our very first session, I felt comfortable with her. She created an environment where I felt safe, understood, and listened to. I always felt that my boundaries were respected. That made it easier for me to open up and trust the process. One thing I really appreciated about Dr. Yurie was how attentive and present she was during each session. She remembered details from conversations we had a long time ago, in fact, sometimes things I had forgotten myself. It made me feel like she really cared, and that what I shared mattered. She also helped me look at situations from perspectives I had didn't think of before. Her insights gave me ways of thinking that I know I'll continue to carry with me long after our time together. Some of the things she shared and helped me realize have stayed with me and continue to help me in my daily life. Unfortunately, I no longer have sessions with her, and ending therapy with her was honestly difficult and emotional for me :') I'm very thankful for the support and guidance she gave me during the time we worked together. She had made such a positive impact on my life. If you're looking for a therapist and considering reaching out to someone, I strongly recommend giving Dr. Yurie a try. I was resistant for a while but I finally agreed to schedule an intake appointment with Dr. Yurie and that was one of the best decisions I could have made at the time. During our initial sessions, I was pretty closed off as I felt I still didn't need therapy. However, Dr. Yurie reassured me that I was in a safe environment and we'd always go at my pace. She never pressured me to dive into things I wasn't ready for and I really appreciated that. Eventually, I was sharing things with Dr. Yurie that I didn't share with even my closest of friends. Dr. Yurie has to be one of the best listeners I have ever come across. She didn't cut me off or redirect the conversation to herself; she truly provided a listening ear and offered unique perspectives that I never thought of. The advice she shared helped to elevate the confidence within myself and the decisions that I made. I finally feel like I can start focusing on my own happiness rather than fixating on other people's happiness all the time. I can't say enough great things about Dr. Yurie. She's a fantastic therapist and a phenomenal person. I was battling with a 'sense of failure' as a father/husband/person due to what I thought was from financial pressures and a lack of empathy, accountability with my was breaking down my relationship with my wife. His counseling experience and deep knowledge of 'Complex Relational trauma response' helped me understand how I was reacting to conflict which induced my own defensiveness reactions and anger. He provided me with my own personal tools to deploy on a regular basis. These helped me be nice to myself and appreciate my purpose and that I was actually doing my best to improve myself and provide love most importantly. Some of those solutions and tools such as meditation, mindfulness, self awareness/development created personal behavioral changes and coping strategies I now feel better about myself . A relationship tools I really liked was his own self developed 'Oh-Five-X Repair Framework' ( a one page document) which has provided us ability to create a safe place for trust, healing, and recovering from past trauma and experiences in our relationship and personal pasts. I've developed a deeper understanding and awareness of myself and Justin's actionable tools and strategies are much more than what most other life coaches or counselors can deliver. Its his ability to land these strategies/tools on point and get you to understand how to employ them to get better/improve/develop yourself With this guidance I've noticed I've become more empathetic, less reactive and more self caring so my family can continue to heal, and our relationship and welfare of ourselves benefits our family.
