Excessive wait times. Doctor was good. Wait times bring down experience. Looking for another urology office

I recently had a biopsy at the NJ Urology surgical center in Voorhees, NJ. My doctor was Dr. Randy Ackerman. The staff did a perfect job. They were very attentive, kind and considerate. Dr. Ackerman did a super job, perfect and pinpointed. I can't say enough about the whole crew of nurses and doctors who took care of me. I don't think there is a better place to go. read more

My dad was transferred from a rehab facility in Moorestown for his appt. Not an easy feat for a 91-year-old, severely hard of hearing, stroke patient. I met him in the office as requested. We were taken back into an exam room and told to wait for the Dr. That process so far took about 3 hours. After 10 minutes or so, Dr Patel came in holding a folder. He stated 2 options of tests to determine kidney or bladder issues. Since both required invasive surgery under anesthesia, the Dr said he was not a good candidate. I agreed. Then I said that the important reason we were there, was dad was having issues with his foley catheter. I asked the Dr to check it and determine if it needed to be changed. He said that's ok, the facility will do that. He got up and walked out. Total, 3 minutes!!!! He did not fill out the requested form from the rehab facility, nor did he contact them with a report. When I asked them to request that great office visit results, the Dr stated to them that I refused any course of care for my dad. I had been with the same urology office for nearly 15 years. The practice was Delaware Valley Urology, then NJ Urology, and now they are Summit Urology although they identify as NJ Urology. You can receive good care here if you just need to see urologist for routine visits and to review test results with you. However, Summit is an epic fail when it comes to anything outside of just scheduling a regular old appointment. My original urologist retired and I was handed off to a very capable younger individual. Just as I was hitting these tests they're turning up situations that need to be addressed, he ended up on medical leave; that is nothing against him. I saw a different urologist who is very nice and confirmed I need to have a procedure performed. I received a phone call days later to schedule me about 4 weeks out. The week of I received a call saying they need the bounce me by a day; so far so good. I received my phone call with my report time day before, only to receive another call an hour later saying they had to cancel and I would hear back to give me a new date. That phone call did not come for nearly two weeks! And that marked three different procedures dates with three different doctors, none of which I had ever seen or heard of. On top of all of this, they give you a phone number on a piece of paper with instructions saying to call this number if you have questions about your procedure. I had a number of questions including the need to return their call confirming the reschedule at their request. No one did this day has ever returned one of my several phone calls over 4 weeks to that number. In addition, through numerous calls trying to escalate the situation and bring it to their attention that no one was returning my calls around this procedure, all of those pleas and messages to managers went unanswered. I even tried reaching out to the Summit service related emails for their corporate organization on their website; no responses there either even though they promise a prompt reply. So, I started asking for my medical records so I could go elsewhere. I received no response to My multiple requests over a period of 3 weeks to receive my medical records. I finally received a call from a local office manager that was in response to my plea for escalation to medical records. She was more than helpful, she listened to my entire experience to date, and she truly empathized with me. She was also taking action to get my medical records to me this week so I could take my care elsewhere. If I were to decide to return to Summit for my care it would be to that one individual office who still tries to run themselves as a personalized experience in the vast for profit Summit conglomerate. Again, if you just need routine exams and orders for tests, Summit may be your place. But for anything else, don't waste your time and don't risk your health; go elsewhere. read more

Was able to get an appointment fairly quickly . Efficiently staff . Great doctors. Careful and thorough.

I asked for scans for my medical records. They said they were in my online chart. I called back and told them. They said someone would call back, but never did. Then I asked for the nurse to call back. She never did. Then I spoke to the office manager, who assured me she would take care of it. She never did. Finally I showed up for my appointment three weeks later and asked the doctor for help in locating the records. Since he asked the staff actually made and effort and was able to locate them! Regarding treatment, it seems as if they have two surgery options and you either fit in one or the other. No other treatments were recommended. I went online and researched other treatments. Getting a second opinion at Penn next month. read more

I thought I was very lucky to get an appointment with Dr. Gordhan Chirag in about 2 weeks! Now I know why. It sadly seems Lady Luck wasn't smiling after all. Why. This NJ Urology Voorhese office is awful at best. Poor service, even though it seemed like the office had more staff at the front desk than patients in the waiting room. Calling out patient's by their first names! Even Dr. Gordhan addressed me by my first name, and I met him for the first time. I remember learning how to address people respectfully from kindergarten folks. They made me wait for 45 minutes. No reason, I guess. In the last 10 minutes, there was maybe one patient in the waiting room. I enquired about the wait, and I was immediately called in. Maybe I should have enquired earlier. From other reviews, I understand that long waits are commonplace, and no one cares. I agree. Met the Dr. for the first time. He seemed like he had just rolled out of bed. No shirt, no tie, and, of course, no jacket. His chest hair was exposed! Seriously, it appeared I was overdressed. His prostrate exam was a non exam, even to a lay person like me. He just touched the spot. Barely any penetration. I asked how he could perform an enlarged prostrate exam without penetration. He told me he could do it by looking at the digital image. In that case, why ask me to drop my LL Beans doc? I have had a prostrate exam before. It was quite painful. This time, it was indeed joyful! On a serious note, it could be malpractice. If there was something going on, then he missed it! Perhaps their medical director should investigate it. Also, the office asked me for urine sample even after I informed them the urine analysis was done by Labcorp 2 days ago. Why? Because they like to do a rough test to check whether the accurate test is correct! Make sense? Not to me. But it does make sense considering the bottom line. So, in conclusion, I am not going back to this office and this doc again. For sure. read more

I have left voice mail messages for 4 consecutive days for the billing department and not one of them has been returned. Standard message that their agents are currently helping other callers, but I find it hard to believe that there are that many other callers that my inquiry cannot be addressed. Reading the other reviews, it seems this service is well in line with what patients have experienced. read more

I was sent to get a test at the Voorhees facility. The first appointment was not completed because the equipment was broken. Given another appointment . The second appointment was not completed because I had a UTI. However when I looked online at the screening in the office done 2 weeks earlier the UTI was detected but no bothered to mention it , no prescription was issued at that time. After contacting the doctor myself I was given a prescription. At the 3rd appointment I arrived only to be told the equipment** was broken once again. Although the tech was quite nice I still have no completed test. I asked for another testing location no one has responded as yet. Went for two appointments and it seemed like a waste since the first, they just put me on meds to try and the second they just increased the meds. The meds given were also prohibitively expensive so even if they worked, I wouldn't have been able to use it. But the real issue with this place is that their billing department is awful. I've been trying to pay my last bill for a month now but no one ever picks up and no one ever returns my call. It also seems like they are avoiding me so that they can collect late fees since the activation code they gave me for online pay suspiciously expired. read more

Rather frustrated with this place. Each time I've gone here I've been kept waiting for about 90 minutes past my scheduled appointment time. It's annoying and unprofessional. I understand that sometimes there are situations and delays outside the norm. But every time? I sat waiting and waiting while not one person came to say the doctor is running late or to apologize. However the one time I was running late due to a traffic jam, I got there 10 minutes late only to be told the doctor had already gone home. I tried calling to say I was running late but you cannot get anyone on the phone. The hold times are insane and there is no option just to leave a message. I'm actually on hold now trying to cancel my next appointment and it's been 17 minutes and counting. There is a patient portal they encourage you to use with a cancel appointment option; tried that and message says that feature is not available. Oh and got two second opinions saying my original diagnosis is incorrect. After I'd spent $500 on tests. Safe to say I wouldn't recommend. read more

I wish I had thought to look up Yelp reviews for this practice. I just went by Dr's reviews.. but agree with all the other 1 star reviews. I've been waiting 90+ mins and was just told my Dr is "running behind".. beyond frustrating and there's no consideration for the patient's time. The communication is terrible whether it's by phone, reception area or check out and trying to get an actual person to help you via phone is nearly impossible. I'm in the phone queue right now trying to reschedule my appointment and have been on the phone for 30 mins just listening to music while I'm IN THEIR OFFICE!!!!!!!!The front desk receptionists are professional and try to do their best, but this is my last time coming here. read more

Agree with all 1 star reviews. Doctors couldn't care less about your problems. They spend less than 5 minutes with you - if more of their time is required - they quickly lose interest. Don't expect any callbacks from the doctor or be treated as a human being by office administration personnel. They actually misdiagnosed me so I ended up taking antibiotics for 2 weeks which were completely useless for my problem and then ended up in the emergency room. I switched to Cooper urology and recommend you do the same thing. Good luck! P.S they don't pick up the phone - I can't even cancel my appointment. read more

Dr Phillip J .Dorsey of NJ Urology group DOES NOT CARE about removing a stent he inserted. Phillip J .Dorsey inserted a stent between kidney and bladder. I have been calling his office to have the stent removed. But each time I call his office puts me through multiple levels of customer service. Phillip J .Dorsey performed the surgery while I was at Jefferson Health in Stafford NJ. It was recommended by a internist Doctor Gloria D Lam that the stent be removed **within 1 week** of its insertion. Unfortunately, Dr Dorsey who inserted the stent will not be available until a **month** later to remove the stent. Question: if he does not have time to remove the stent within the recommended 1 week then ** WHY ** did he insert it knowing he would not have time to remove it in a timely manner. Dr Dorsey appears to be **putting my health at risk** since his availability is complete in contradiction to the recommendation of internist Dr Gloria D Lam who is works at Jefferson Health in Stafford NJ read more

I had an appointment for evaluation of green light laser surgery for BPH in East Brunswick. East Brunswick is an hour and a half trip through a maze of roads from West Milford. I wrote down directions I got from Dr. Google and got lost on the last leg of the trip. I stopped here and there to ask people where Cranbury Road was and nobody knew. Some showed me complex navigation on their cell phones. I called them but the only options were to leave messages for this or that department. I left a message and said to call me back pronto on my cell phone to give me directions. Didn't hear back and finally gave up and drove an hour and a half back home. On the trip I saw on my cell phone that the had left a message about 20 minutes later, probably when I was out and about asking for directions and missed the call. I am 78 years old with BPH and was in agony on the trip home not having been able to go to the bathroom for three and a half hours. Here's a suggestion for their artificial stupidity phone setup: press 1 to speak to a human. Duh! read more

I had been told by my chiropractor after taking some x-rays that they had stumbled across some kidney stones. This not being the typical way you find out you have stones, I made an appointment with the urologist. It took about 3 hours for them to get back to me and set an appointment which is fine but I should've known from that how this office was run. I was asked to be 15 minutes early to my appointment to which i waited an additional 35 minutes PASSED my appointment time to see the doctor. I am a 20 year old female with a lot of questions and Dr. Nachmann didn't seem to care to answer a single one of my questions about what I should be eating, what I should be expecting, NOTHING. She just clicked around on her computer and shoveled me out of the office. She gave me scripts for a pee kit and a CT scan WITH ABSOLUTELY NO EXPLANATION. I give it a week cause maybe they were busy and called to ask the doctor questions about this 24 hour pee collection thing cause I still have no clue what the hell it is (no one in my family has ever had kidney stones). I leave a message. Three days later I get a call from a random in the office telling me she'll send me the kit right away, only problem is I STILL HAVE NO CLUE WTF IT IS AND NO ONE IS ANSWERING MY QUESTIONS. So I get this kit in the mail 3 days after that with no instructions. Just a strainer and a big bottle?? Like honestly what the hell am I supposed to do with THAT??!? After being diagnosed with kidney cancer I was referred to NJU. I have never been treated better or with more respect. Both doctors and nurses were wonderful. Took my father for his 2:15 Appointment , front desk made an announcement that the doctor was running two hours behind, finely called to the exam room at 3:45. Nurse does a scan. 4:45 nurse states the the scan was good and we could leave. Asked to see the doctor so I could get some questions answered. 30 min. later doctor came in. I wanted to spray myself with lysol. When i walked in, i should have left when i saw the bloody tissue under the urine stained chair in the waiting room. Not a wet chair, a stained chair. I have pictures of all of this. On to the exam room. Blood on the walls, bird feathers on the floor, and some sort of flakes covering the exam table. I wanted to vomit. I couldn't stand being in that filth any longer and bolted before the doctor even came in. I do not want anyone or anything there touching me. Straight nasty. read more

I am a primary care physician. I sent my patient to this service due to suspicion for prostate cancer. The urologist performed a biopsy, but never contacted the patient, and did not tell him that he had prostate cancer for over 3 months. This has delayed my patient's treatment, and left him understandably quite upset. When I called their office to ask why they did not let my patient know, they did not even have the grace to apologize. I would never send one of my patient's to this service ever again. read more

Horrible place! It was crowded, and none of the office staff seemed to know what they were doing; a very inefficient system. I waited over 1 hour to see a highly regarded urologist. When he finally entered the exam room, he spent a total of 4 minutes with me; 4 minutes! He talked, I listened. He prescribed something for me and left; boom! That was it. Talk about feeling rushed. I have to go back for a follow up, and then I'm going somewhere else. read more

East Brunswick Office, EPIC FAILURE. Doctor was great too bad the office staff and follow up care and procedures are left to the office staff which the worst of the worst, especially "JANET" unless you enjoy attitude and nastiness and horrible tone of voice. Dr. Linden and the tech Cameron, I think was her name, were great and I give them 5 stars! I'm giving the one star to the office and support staff. You can NEVER get through to a live human despite the fact that every time I've come here there are multiple employees, like 3-6 people, hanging around behind the front desk area loudly talking about their personal lives, laughing and having a good old time. My first visit here the employees behind the check in desk were loudly complaining about patients not doing the online check in process before they got there. One of them actually had the nerve to comment that it's because they're lazy, even though they are complaining because they have to do the check in with them which IS their job after all. The whole reason they are employed. So who's the lazy one? I heard this from pretty far across the waiting area so I know everyone else waiting there heard them too. Not very professional. When I needed to get lab work done they sent the wrong paperwork 3 separate times and I ended up driving there to pick it up in person to make sure I got the right thing. The woman at Labcorp was familiar with this NJ Urology office and told me it happens all the time with them. She was the one who suggested I just go there myself and let me get right in when I finally did get back from getting the proper orders. So make sure you check ahead of time, well before your lab work appointment, that they have the correct orders. After my procedure, the guy at the check out desk who scheduled my follow up appointment got an attitude with me because I didn't ask for a specific time. I said "anything after 3, what do you have open?". He rolled his eyes and said "You gotta give me a time". After some more back and forth he kinda snapped at me and said most of the day is open what time do you want and rudely started barking out times to me. And then to top it off he ended up scheduling the wrong date anyway, which I didn't find out until the week before the appointment when I got an email reminder. I would have been able to keep that wrong appointment except for the fact that no one ever communicated to me I had to go somewhere else to give a sample so I wasn't able to get it done in time because of the whole lab work script debacle that ensued. So I reschedule, get another appointment 6 weeks later and when it finally comes close to the date the office calls me to reschedule because of some issue. I was supposed to have two follow up appointments at 6 and 8 weeks. We are now 5 months out from the original procedure and still haven't even had my first follow up. How in the world do you run a business like this and survive? read more

When Delaware Valley Urology was in existence everything went smooth any problem would be resolved immediately either a phone call or through their portal. As soon as they were purchased by New Jersey Urology, can not ever get a hold of someone, you leave messages for refill a prescription or a problem with one, no follow up what so ever. Their My chart is design for basic things,p no way to solve an ongoing problem, once they put a issue can't override or tell them it's a mistake. Here is my dilemma, I trying to refill a prescription since end of November, I tried to contact them with no response, Caremark as tried to contact them with no result. The only reason I go there I like my Urologist of 20 years. Their customer service is non existent, seems like no one cares. It's all about the mighty dollar not helping people in need. Maybe it's time to change Urologist, this is not the first an problem occurred the last time I had to make an appointment to see the doctor and he personally resolved it. Highly unprofessional lacking discipline regarding timely information... Inconsistencies accompanying lab results...did not notify prior to scheduled procedure... Overall there wasn't any consideration within a timely frame period to make a prudent decision on a questionable procedure after lab work had been reviewed. I have been going here for over 4 years. I was treated for bladder cancer. This took quite a bit of time, but, finally cured. I do need to go back every 3 months for periodic check-ups. From the staff to the doctors they are number 1. Dr. Keeler is the best. I started at the Cherry Hill branch (they were a great caring group pf professionals the Voorhees office is much larger with many more patients and they handle everyone professionally. read more

NJ Urology's customer service is dysfunctional and deserves its 2-star rating. Among other reasons, they use a centralized call center which is out of touch with how their individual facilities operate. Business must be so good for NJU to care so little about their customer service. If they did they likely could easily operate more facilities. They have no respect for the time they waste, often primary care givers with day jobs and kids bringing in elderly family members. Waiting 45 mins to answer your call is business as usual. Send them a secure message and expect no reply. Sent us to the wrong specialist, billed us for that service w/o apology. Have billed our credit card for services they still can't explain. I take my elderly aunt to them b/c it's close by her nursing home, in-network, and when you do get to the appointment (in our case NJU's Voorhees facility) the office the staff and Drs. are pleasant & competent. Even so, once I get her thru this procedure we're looking elsewhere! read more

Horrible! Absolutely the worst. Not the Doctors but their answering 'system'. They MAKE you leave a message after telling you numerous time how SUPER BUSY their "NAVIGATORS" are. I waited FOUR hours for their return call (as if I had a choice) and ..surprise! NO call. So, like a moron, I call them again at 2:30 pm. How busy can they be, right? WRONG. Again, no call back. Navigators? It's the middle of the week. Middle of the day. Half their patients are jumping around in the ocean, not worry about their prostate. Do you get a call back?? Fahgeddaboutit! I've had a few bad experiences with this place, especially an insanely angry young lady called NICHOLE...and she's still there pissing people off. Haven't been in to see the doctor yet, so no review there. However... the waiting room is a disgrace. Stains all over the chairs, stains all over the carpet, stains all over the wallpaper, an out of order sign on the water dispenser. I feel dirty just being in this place! I have been trying to call NJ urology since 12/10/2019 nobody picks up the phone i have left several messages with Jamie in the clifton office she has not called me back shes supposed to set up an MRI for my prostrate they also screwed up my disability that persons name Cristeen Castellanos and theres more i was supposed to hydrocelle surgery on 11/11/2019 at Wayne Surgical Center on November 8 telling me that it has to be done at a hospital so they did the surgery on the 14 th at Chilton Hospital in Pequannock arrived home at about 10pm only to be rushed back to Valley Hospital because the put the catheter in wrong which was very painful and when they did the biopsy of my prostrate they said i would be a sleep well that was a lie i was wide awake and Dr Sanzone assured me i would be asleep im am so upset with NJ urology in Clifton Patient beware read more

THEY ARE AWFUL. I have been trying to get an appt. since October 26. It is now December 2. I have sent numerous messages through the patient portal and have NEVER received a response. In addition, I had an ultrasound done in September and no one has given me the results. And forget calling - hold times are excessive and the callback feature does not work. I sent a desperate email yesterday and someone called back-of course I was unavailable-she left a voicemail stating she got my email and that I was scheduled for an appt. this morning and did not show. Really? Funny that NO ONE, either by email or phone, has even contacted me since late October so someone must have scheduled me and no one told me. Further, she gave me the call center number to call back on. Really? You can't give me a direct number? So now I have to call the call center? I looked up their corporate office and left a message on the executive assistant's voicemail. If I do not hear from someone by end of day today, I am going somewhere else. NJ Urology is WAY TOO BIG and the state of NJ should have never allowed them to grow this big as they cannot manage day to day patient correspondence. We shall see. UPDATE: Well the hits just keep coming! A lady just called and told me that I did not have an appt. scheduled for today but I had one scheduled for Dec 7. I tried to reschedule that but did not have availability until later in the month, so I asked to see another doctor to get my ultrasound results earlier. She then told me that I could not get the results from another doctor. (???) When I asked why she told me that "doctors don't share patient information." She went on to say that "we are not a clinic." I then asked if a nurse could contact me with the results and she told me that yes, a nurse could call me with the results, and she said she would ask a nurse to contact me. I find this hilarious! Doctors don't share patient information but a nurse can do it? As I said above, we shall see... FINAL UPDATE: The director called me, which was impressive, but even after speaking with her it still took me two days to get my results. While I really appreciate her taking the time to help me, I just don't have any confidence in NJ Urology. I asked for my medical records, and I will not return. read more

Still generally very happy with this practice. We are somewhat frustrated with his post-op care because his insurance didn't cover some of the things the doctor wanted him to have/do. The frustrating part is that his is more common than not and we were not warned about these roadblocks in advance. It would have made sense for us to be able to plan a little better. While we are pleased that he was referred to another specialist within the practice to help with some of the standard side effects of surgery, we feel that some of the information given should have been given much sooner in his post-op care. The doctor routinely refers his patients to this sub-section of the practice, and I think the office should start including making this appointment when they make the post-op appointments (which are made before surgery) as the wait to see this clinician is very long. read more

Today is Monday, October 12th. My son has been waiting for a call back from this office since Wednesday, October 7th. He calls into their queue, aka Black Hole, and if he does get a call back, it is just to tell him that someone else will be calling him back. I am 50 years old and can honestly say this is THE most unprofessional doctors office I have ever had an experience with. Even a one star review is too high - they have way too many doctors in this group to be this inefficient! If you are researching this group for a new doctor - I implore you - don't do it. Find somewhere else to go, which is exactly what we are now in the process of. I made an appt. with a Dr. Michael Lasser for an appt. They confirmed and asked me for my insurance when I called and I gave it to them. I received 2 confirmation emails for my appt. and approved them both. I traveled 45 minutes to their office and when I got there the Sec'y told me that I needed a primary care physician referral and wouldn't serve me...My insurance is Wellcare and I called them immediately once I left the office. They said that Dr. Lasser should not be doing that since Wellcare users do not need referrals to see their Drs. ...what a waste of a day...these guys shouldn't be allowed into the Wellcare system!!! read more
