Red bean fish
Daniel M.

So it seems that the guy who sells the fish stuff with red beans in the back of the store is not part of the supermarket. I dont know if people realize but what is important is that he is an important part of the neighborhood. The stuff fish with the red bean filling are always freshly made to order, he makes the recipes and he makes it right before your eyes. God bless his soul, he makes the kids very happy with all of his offerings. I just came back and me the 6 for $10 deal, totally worth it. Awesome snack or even better a nice quick breakfast in the morning when you have to run out of the house with something quick. They keep well and you toast then in a oven toaster, tip add a little bit of butter on top to make it crunchy in the oven toaster! Delicious treat any time for kids and adults.

New Mart is a local supermarket in our neighborhood and the decor is outmoded, tiny & narrow-spaced. The products lineup is limited with higher prices but they are mostly fresh. During COVID-19, every customer was required to wear a mask and gloves. The owner provided free gloves and hand sanitizer at the entrance which was a great countermeasure. My husband and I were interested in their prepared food especially the Korean blood sausages. We will plan to visit again and try to get it.

After discovering this small Korean grocery store, I keep on coming back here especially when I get tired of H-mart banchan (Koran side dishes), priced better, find the vegetable and fruits are very fresh and they have a lot of what I need or want. I recommend walking around to see what they have and trying new things. Enjoy!

This tiny market reminds me of Korea and I love it. Bought some food to go and bought a big portion of blood sausages from the cutest grandma. Ate half of it and used the other half to make a spicy blood sausage stir fry! Also got a kimbap and fried chicken combo for a ride trip and it was absolutely the best rode trip meal with no mess.

3 for $5

This Korean grocery store isn't too big but has a lot of Korean snacks and other foods inside. I personally love to come for the red bean taiyaki, which I find to be the best one around! It's $2 for one or $5 for 3 and the man in the stall is very nice but always tries to push you to buy 3. The taiyaki is crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside with a generous portion of red bean, which I LOVE.

I walked through New Mart because I came from the snack shop located in the back parking lot. The prices for snacks in this store is significantly higher than other Korean supermarkets. I wouldn't come here unless I really needed something for a recipe that I can't get in HMart. It takes about 10 minutes for taiyaki to be prepared. Snack shop owner wasn't the best at communicating prices and menu selection available. He hesitated to give me change after I paid him. The taiyaki was really cute but had a rubbery texture to it. I saw that the prepared walnut cake was left out in the open without a cover.

Bungeo-ppang. Filled with red bean or custard.

In the parking lot side entrance they have a vendor that sells fish shaped pastries (Bungeo-ppang) and walnut cakes (Hodugwaja). The Bungeo-ppang can be filled with red bean or custard and it's 3 for $5.00. They are crispy on the outside, chewy inside and the lighrly sweeten Red bean filling makes it perfectly delicious! Don't worry if they get cold, you can warm them back up in the toaster oven! t's a small supermarket with limited selection but it's ok since it's close by my house and great for picking up last minute items. What I like here is the prepared foods. On the right side behind the registers, they have a table full of different kinds of Korean rice cakes. I like the little.ones with sesame inside. On the left hand side they have kimbap and japchae.

Quick lunch pick up (for the week)

During the afternoon on a weekday or weekend, don't even think about parking in their lot. It gets PACKED since it's shared with the other stores and restaurants. You can also park off of Springfield or Horace Harding. You can even drive around to find parking on the side streets if you have the time. New Mart is a very small compared to H&Y, HMart, Assi.. I don't care though. Whenever I'm in the area and I'm starving, I'll go in and pick up (a lot of) snacks and ramen (or a box of them since it's cheaper). I just keep them in my car and eat them when I'm hungry or on my lunch break at work. They don't have a large selection of stuff but I found what I needed. I didn't have any problems with the employees here and the lady working the register was very sweet. It's only a few blocks from QCC and Cardozo. It's conveniently located off the 495E.

We have developed a congenial friendship which was founded on La Fermière yogurts. Emre knows that I price shop so invariably I know when the time is right to buy these delicious yogurts at Eden. I often buy Siggi yogurts as here they are $1.99 each. The ladies - Dolores, Affou, Mamata, Savita, Tofu - at the checkout are friendly, kind and remember customers. A few speak French which I practice with them. Being originally Greek, the Dolmas in the prepared food section, are plump and particularly tasty. It's worth buying a few to take home. Adam looks taciturn but always is kind to me. He is behind the deli counter preparing sandwiches and always gives me a quarter pound of the Jambon de Paris. Miguel and Medina are also here. A loyalty card is worth having and once having accumulated many points I paid the princely sum of $1.61 for a pretty bouquet of roses in assorted colors that cost $11.99. Now that's a steal! Eden Gourmet is the sister supermarket to my beloved sadly closed Eden Gourmet of 14th street. This too is packed to the brim with fresh vegetables, fruits, cheeses, dairy, chicken and meats. A large variety of sparkling waters, frozen entrees, ice creams and assorted temptations are here too. A small bakery has cakes and pastries available. I pop in often to get milk or to see what's new and always to say hello to everyone. I always feel happy coming to Eden Gourmet Marketplace!

You'll get all the usual grocery store sections, including fresh produce and a deli counter in the back. There isn't a ton of variety, with maybe two or three options for most items. But those options are consistently high quality. Whoever is stocking the shelves has good taste! The setup for paying is a bit weird, they've got a long counter up front in lieu of the usual registers with lanes. It can make lines a bit confusing during busier times, but not a dealbreaker by any means.
