I am so glad I had the chance to take the new mom classes with my first baby when he was 3 months old. That class was first time I went somewhere by myself with the baby and it felt so good to be surrounded by other moms and babes who were just beginning on this beautiful and nerve wracking new journey together. As a new mom I had very few friends with children of their own. I work about an hour away from where I live and I desperately needed a place to connect with other moms in the area. That is when I found Alex's OC Mommy and Me group! We joined right away and it has been amazing! The group consists of mothers with babies all around the same age, so you are all going through the same struggles and have the same questions and get to celebrate milestones together. Our group has now ended but we still get together very often for play dates, lunches and meetups. OC Mommy and Me has been a great resource for my wife and I since we had our first baby. Being first time parents, it was really helpful for my wife to have a community of other moms that she can talk to that are going through the same issues. Each time she came home from a class, she had good information about what we should or shouldn't be doing and that gave us more confidence in what we were doing as parents. My wife made so many good friends from her class and I have been able to meet many of the husbands of her classmates as well. Even though the class is over, my wife keeps up with all the other moms and now we have a community of parents that we can continue to stay in contact with. A friend of mine convinced me to sign up for Mommy and Me with her, as our babies were born only a week apart. Levi was especially fussy in the beginning and I was terrified that he would cry throughout the class, which nearly kept me from even going. I am so thankful that we did. The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming... and sometimes babies cry... and it's ok. This class got us out of the house when I didn't think we could. Alex is amazing and so understanding and helpful. The topics that we covered each week were all very timely and questions were always welcomed. On top of that, we met a wonderful group of new moms and their babes all around the same age as Levi. When my wife originally brought up the idea of joining the OC mommy and me series I was hesitant on the return we would get on the substantial investment. With the hospital bills and extra costs associated with having a new born, I questioned the need for a new mommy class. I mean we had read all the books, what else did we need to learn. Looking back after completing the series I would recommend this experience to any friend or coleague. The series did a very good job of presenting tangible topics almost always at the right time to support my wife and myself through the rigors of raising a newborn. The combination of substantive teachings and the ability to network with other new parents has given us a strong feeling of control throughout the development of our little girl. You can never guarantee that everything will go as planned but at least with OC Mommy and Me you will have a support network to help you with through your struggles. read more

After having my daughter is July I was able to become a stay at home mom and immediately wanted to join a Mommy and Me class to make friends, gain support, and learn. I am so glad I joined OC Mommy and Me, and it is well worth the 30-45 minute drive from South OC. I met an awesome group of ladies who many of us get together for walks, lunches, play dates, and girls night, outside of class. It is also a great opportunity for my daughter to get to meet and interact with other babies her age. It is so neat that all the babies in our group are born in the same month so we are all going through the same exact things and can give advice and support. I have a few friends with older children, and they often forget how difficult the early months are and don't have much solid advice. On top of it all, our class was lead by our amazing instructor, Alex. She is very educated and informed about really anything and everything related to postpartum and our babies. She is also very sweet, professional, and really cares about each of us and our children. She also brings in specialists to teach us many of the weekly topics, and all of them are very knowledgeable and helpful. I have learned a lot from Alex and her specialists. Most of us in our first series continued on to the second series, so it really has been wonderful getting to know these ladies and watching their children grow. Our class ends in a couple weeks and I am really bummed about it. Alex also offers other classes and workshops that I will most definitely be signing up for when the time comes. I had a bit of postpartum depression during the first month and it still took many months to fully heal and become myself again. Without a doubt in my mind, OC Mommy and Me played a huge part in my recovery. I cannot say enough nice things about OC Mommy and Me and Alex. When my daughter was born, I decided to join a mommy group. After searching the internet (my husband, actually) came across OCMM. I signed up, and let me tell you it to this day is one of the greatest things I have ever done for myself as a mommy. The instructor and founder Alex, is so kind and was full of helpful advice and information. In addition to her own advice and knowledge, she has guest speakers come in to expand on important topics. It was a way for me to not only meet new moms and share support and advice, but I also learned so much helpful information. I found myself looking forward to the class every week! We went over topics such as sleep training, going back to work/vs staying home, vaccinations, medicines and even baby massaging, only to name a few! I was blown away by the amount of information, and knowledge I was able to gain. And on top of that, I was able to meet an amazing group of mommies...which led to lunches together, play dates, birthdays, and even vacation! The classes are set up so the babies are within weeks of each other in age, so you are really going through the same things at the same time with each other. So many times I felt hopeless about something, and sure enough the topic was brought up in class (either because it was the topic of the day, or another mommy brought it up- there are open discussions where each mommy could talk about anything new happening since the previous week, which was so wonderful!) I loved my mommy and me classes. I did the initial 8 week series, and the second series. My favorite thing about both series of classes was that it was a judgment free place to talk about the every day issues we faced as new moms. Everyone was so supportive. Each class has an educational theme, often with guest speakers (like eating, sleeping, finding childcare when you are going back to work, relationships, estate planning, sign language, fun new ways to play) and then we also spent time each week just discussing what I was going on and getting (and sometimes giving) advice to each other. If you are about to be a new parent, you will probably soon discover that two topics will soon take over your life: sleep and poop. We talked about both, often. My other favorite thing was meeting other moms of babies the same age as my daughter. We have become very close over the last year and a half, and it is so much fun to see our kids grow up together. I truly met some lifelong friends in my group. read more

I was 12 weeks pregnant or so when multiple friends told me to sign up for The New Mom School. So at 20 weeks, I signed up. I signed up before I actually bought anything for our new baby girl. This was definitely the best decision and purchase I made for our new arrival. The classes and instruction were taught at the time I needed them the most. And if I had a question - I was sure at least one of the other new moms in my class had the same thought. I honestly don't know how new moms do without the new school in their tool box. Love this place not only for the valuable information it provides, but for the community it builds and the friendships I've made. The transition to motherhood is NOT easy, but our weekly sessions at this place have made it not only bearable but at times, enjoyable! My daughter and I love it so much we've taken the newborn series, the continuing infant series, and now the sensory class for 7-12 months! Not to mention they also offer free breastfeeding support and postpartum adjustment sessions. They really think of everything and care about everyone's well being, not just the baby's. Alex is always a wealth of knowledge and has the most calming demeanor which helps make an already chaotic and anxious period less stressful. Being a new mom can be very isolating - no matter how much help you have from your husband, family, and friends. While many of my friends have children, none of them were newborns, and I was desperately looking for something to get me and the baby out of the house. OC Mommy and Me was EXACTLY what I needed! OC Mommy and Me was something I looked forward to on my calendar every single week. I loved that each baby in class was only months apart, which made discussing experiences really easy (because we were all going through the same thing!). The classes were all structured to cover a different topic each week, but flexible to allow for each mom to share what she is going through and how baby is doing. It was a perfect balance of education and support (and FUN!). Alex is great and genuinely cares about each mom and baby. Her classes offer a supportive, caring, and fun environment where moms can celebrate, vent, and share anything and everything that comes with having a new baby. Let's face it - being a new mom is ridiculously hard and NOTHING can really prepare you for it. Alex has created something amazing with OC Mommy and Me and I am so thankful I found her. New Mom School was such an amazing blessing for my family and I. We moved to the OC area when I was 26 weeks pregnant, and I knew hardly anyone. Being a new mom was daunting enough, let alone adjusting to a new area, and being a part of the New Mom School helped me to meet other Moms, learn about caring for my little man, and also familiarized me with the area, and services to seek out. The thing I am most thankful for was the class we had with Katie Donnelly. My son had torticollis and flatness on one side of his head that hadn't been caught by our pediatrician (yet), and it was our session with Katie that made me realize we needed to seek medical help and get my son in a Doc-Band. Because of her, we caught it early enough that his issue was corrected much more quickly than had we waited until the pediatrician caught it at his next wellness visit. We also enlisted Katie's PT services to work on my sons torticollis, and I am thankful from the bottom of my heart that NMS brought her into our lives! She is THE BEST! Our Mom class still gets together periodically almost one year later, and we have stayed connected via Facebook. I am so grateful to have these women as sounding boards and friends! None of this would have been possible without the NMS! Thank you! read more

This class and people who are participants are so helpful and truly life saving as a second time mom I am still amazed at how much I learned and so grateful for all the support and friendship this group brings. The price at first seemed a bit high but after taking the complementary breastfeeding class and speaking with the other moms I was eager to try it! I have never looked forward to something more and I am so grateful that this is available the hard work and dedication from the operators is clearly evident. I highly recommend my marriage and bond with my child is even stronger and I feel a sense of peace which is worth every penny. Love love love that this class exists. I am so grateful that I decided to go to The New Mom School!!! Being a first time mom was incredibly surreal. I didn't know what I was doing, couldn't understand what my body was doing and overall I felt crazy from sleep deprivation. Coming into a group with other moms in the same position as me was vital to my first few months as a mommy! I love that this course is all about the moms! Don't get me wrong, there was tons of vital information about the babies too but overall the theme was us. I needed that. When your life is so focused on that new little person, it's easy to forget to take care of yourself too. I learned about how to take care of my c'section scar, something NONE of my doctors even mentioned. I learned about my baby's sleep habits and how to give him a massage. It was an incredible experience. If you are looking for a place to help you get used to be a new mom, this is it! You will be happy you signed up and so will your baby! read more

I took the newborn series at The New Mom School early 2017 and cannot put into words how amazing my experience was in class. I was so apprehensive in the beginning and looking back I am so thankful I joined. I have met some amazing moms and it has been awesome to have others to bounce ideas, fears, struggles and milestones in this motherhood journey we were all on together. A lot of the moms in my group went on to the toddler series and I did not due to not being sure of my work schedule and I 100% regret not signing up! I am so glad my hubby found this mommy and me class for me! It's not something I would normally do, but he felt bad that I was cooped up in the house and wanted my son and I to have something we could do together. Alex is a wonderful great leader, so sweet and easy to talk to. I joined when my son was only 6 weeks when I still felt like a mess, sleep deprived and frustrated. However, the class and support has definitely helped as common problems are discussed and there are other mommies there to get advice from. All the other mommies are all so sweet and we still continue to get together even though our session has ended. I would recommend this class to any new moms out there :) read more

As a first time mom, I would have died without these classes. Seriously. I had books upon books of what to expect and what to do with a newborn, but when you're severely sleep deprived and "surviving" each day, it's much easier to go to a class and have your questions answered by real people who know what they're talking about. The great thing about these classes is that you have other babies of similar ages, so they can "grow up" with each other from week to week. I've made a couple of really great mom friends this way. Also, the classes are tailored to the stage that both you and your baby are going thru, whether it be learning how to get them to nap or sleep better, or how to navigate through your own marriage in this very challenging "adjustment period"--it was such a relief to hear that I wasn't the only one resentful at my husband for "not doing enough" and "not understanding what it's really like". :) It really helps to have the support of other moms who are going through the exact same thing you are, and to feel that you're not alone!! I remember being so fearful of leaving the house with my "difficult" newborn (who had acid reflux) to attend these classes, but I am SO glad I had the courage to do so, because I have learned so much and am a much better prepared and confident mom because of them. I've been a part of my group since early January 2014 when my daughter was 6 weeks old. I'm so glad I decided to join while on maternity leave. It's nice to have a support group class that is educational. The leader, Alex, is wonderful and provides so much knowledge. During class it's easy and comfortable to breastfeed, change the baby, and just sit and relax with the baby. I look forward to this weekly class so much. read more

My daughter and I had such a wonderful experience with OC Mommy and Me. Alex did an amazing job creating this program, a first of it's kind in this area, for OC Moms to join together, support each other and bond over being new moms. The first couple months of mommy hood were very challenging for me. I really wanted to find a group with other babies close to my daughter's age so that I could get to know other moms going through similar things. I had a hard time finding that until luckily I stumbled upon Oc Mommy and Me. All of the women in my group were amazing. Alex does a great job of making everyone feel like they can share their thoughts, feelings and questions in a safe and non judgmental space. She's very knowledgeable on all things baby and as a mom herself you know she's coming from a genuine place when she offers advice. It's hard leaving the house with baby in tow but its also a really comfortable space to nurse, change diapers, soothe your crying baby (bc it will happen at some point!) without feeling self conscious. We had speakers come in to share their knowledge on different subjects related to our babies. It was a nice mix of educational info and sharing personal struggles and successes. I felt so much better prepared for motherhood by taking the new mom school class. So often I'm talking to a mom friend and they'll ask me how I knew something and I'll always say "I learned it in New Mom School!" Becoming a mom is HARD but having a group of new moms in the same exact phase as you to talk to weekly is priceless. The weekly topics are helpful to help you cope with everything going on. I'm still friends with a couple moms I met in my group and also find the closed Facebook group you get access to as an alumni helpful years later. The only downfall for me was my son was developmentally different and so comparing him to other babies in the class made me feel concerned with some of his development. He's actually completely healthy and normal, but he just reached milestones differently and comparing caused me anxiety that it shouldn't have... so just remember every baby develops differently and try not to compare with the other babies in the class too much! That is by no means the fault of new mom school and I think not comparing your child to others is a lesson every mom has to learn in due time regardless. If you're becoming a new mom I couldn't recommend this class more. It is worth every penny and will force you to get out an make connections in those tough early days. read more

I signed up for the New Mom School during my pregnancy at the recommendation of a client. After my twins arrived, I had major anxiety about taking them out of the house and I was unsure if I should continue with the class. Let me tell you - the New Mom School ended up being the BEST part of my maternity leave (besides the birth of my babies - haha). I am so thankful for Alex and OC Mommy and Me. My husband and I recently moved to Orange County from Chicago with our then 11 month old son. Before we made the move, I had found OC Mommy and Me through my research on mommy groups and emailed Alex for any help she could offer on the making the transition. She was so thoughtful and took the time to put together a list of groups that I should get involved with to help make the move a little easier and to help meet new moms. This class is a no brainer! It has been the highlight of my week for the past 8 weeks. I have learned SO much from all of the guest speakers that Alex brings to each session as well as from Alex herself. It has been invaluable to go through the first stages of motherhood (for the first time) with other women who are going through the same thing. Every week, I've not only seen the little babies develop and flourish, but so have their mommies! I feel more confident as a mother and I'm so appreciative of all of the new amazing friends (who all have kids my son's age!) that I will hopefully have for the rest of my life!
