When you become a mom for the second time, some people might tell you that you don't need to take mommy and me classes...it's very important that you DO NOT listen to them! I took the second time mom course at NMS in Yorba Linda, and I cannot recommend this series enough. The classes were structured around unique second time mom topics such as navigating toddler behavior and feelings with an added sibling, how your relationship with your spouse changes when you add a new baby and my favorite topic, picky toddler eating The topics were lead by experts in the fields of sleep training, feeding therapists, behavior consultants etc. and each consultant did a thorough job of answering our questions and concerns. I felt heard and understood in NMS Yorba Linda. I liked that these classes focused more on our growing family's dynamic rather than advice for newborns because, at least for me, that wasn't relevant anymore. What I needed was a community of women who just get it, the balancing act of having more than one small child. And I got that because of the second time mom series at NMS Yorba Linda. read more

I joined new mom school for their Raising Toddlers class, and my only regret was not joining their other classes sooner!! As a new mom, this is just what I needed, a community of moms and experts who are going through similar things. The classes are structured to guide us, new moms, through the stages of toddlerhood. My child also loved interacting with all of the other toddlers, singing and story time. But her favorite was playtime! New mom school did an amazing job of keeping the toys clean and maintaining a clean environment for the children. Some of the topics that were covered include: meal time/ all things food (so great for my picky toddler), couples therapist, big little feelings, an OT (one for baby and one for moms). I first heard about New Mom School from an Instagram Ad. I was hesitant at first to sign up because of the price and I wasn't sure what exactly I would even learn. However, I am here to say that I am so thankful that I ended up signing up for the Newborn Class. The instructor was so welcoming and she did an amazing job making everyone feel comfortable sharing their birth stories and how they are feeling postpartum. Additionally, they had various experts come to the classes which were very informative. My favorite classes were when the Sleep Expert and Occupational Therapist came to speak to us. After implementing the advice I got from those lessons, my baby now sleeps through the night at 3 months old and loves doing tummy time! Lastly, you will make so many new friends in class. My group got together once a week outside of class, and are talking about scheduling future get togethers even now that class is over. Joining New Mom School was one of the best things I could have done for myself as a new mom. I have taken the newborn and infant classes and can not wait to join rising toddler. I was initially concerned about joining the newborn class, because my baby would not have yet had her 2 month vaccinations. However my mind was put at ease when I learned that the environment is extremely safe. You can bring your own blanket to put baby on or if you are more comfortable you can keep baby in the carseat. There's a couch that is an option for those ladies still healing or worried about germs that would rather be a little away from the group until baby is vaccinated. I'm so glad that I ended up taking the plunge because both my daughter and I have SO enjoyed these weekly classes. I really look forward to going and learning more information on motherhood and connecting with women going through the same highs and lows as me!
