Prenatal visit - Lio teaching my daughter how to find her sister's heartbeat.
    Amanda C.

Lio has been my midwife for two of my births, and she has played such a monumental role in my life that she feels more like family than anything else. I could truly write a novel on what makes her so uniquely qualified, unfailingly committed, and beautifully compassionate, but I'll try to focus on the most important factors to consider when choosing a care provider. First and foremost, Lio is incredibly skilled and knowledgeable--more so than any other birth professional I've worked with (including MDs). She is well-researched, highly experienced, and deeply insightful. With extensive experience in hospitals, the NICU, labor and delivery, and now home births, my trust in her has never wavered. I've always felt confident that she would take the best course of action for my babies. Beyond her expertise, Lio's devotion goes far and above the scope of what is typical. My second baby was diagnosed with anencephaly, a life-limiting condition, at 20 weeks. Multiple MFMs and OB-GYNs turned away our case as we struggled to find care that respected our wishes for our daughter. When we connected with Lio in my third trimester, I knew immediately that she was the person I wanted by my side through the hardest season of my life. She embraced every opportunity to celebrate with our family in our moments of joy and to mourn with us in our sorrow. I truly don't know how I would have navigated the birth, life, and loss of my daughter without her. Lio will also be your biggest cheerleader. She helped me rediscover my confidence as a mother. Throughout my pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience with my third baby, she consistently encouraged me to trust my own intuition. With Lio--and because of her--I was able to have the beautifully redemptive home birth I had always longed for. Finally, she is incredibly funny, warm, and reliable. Even in the depths of my baby blues, I jokingly called her my postpartum Prozac because she could bring peace and levity into any space. Every member of my family is excited to see her, including my daughter and even our dog. : It's incredibly rare to find someone who is not only so highly respected for their medical qualifications but also an empath with remarkable bedside manner. Lio has absolutely changed my life for the better, and I cannot recommend her enough.

    The whole family loves Lio.

There truly aren't words to describe what this experience meant to me…read more All I can say is that I had my dream birth~ the birth I had hoped and prayed for. More than anything, I wanted bringing my daughter into the world to feel sacred, and that's exactly what it was. From the moment I arrived, I felt deeply heard, respected, trusted, loved, and cared for. My amazing midwives, Dorian and Lorri, along with my incredible doula Kennedy, the wonderful Amy, and the entire team, held such a beautiful space throughout my labor. Even during the hardest, most intense moments of my life, I never felt alone. I trusted them completely, and that trust allowed me to stay present, listen to my body, and surrender to the natural birth I had envisioned. There were so many moments I'll never forget~ from Lorri playing her sound bowls to Dorian's calming presence, touch and steady reassurance. Every interaction was filled with such reverence, compassion, and genuine care. They didn't just support my birth plan- they honored it. They encouraged me to create the environment that felt meaningful to me while adding their own wisdom, intuition, and calming feminine presence. It was beyond anything I thought to even hope for. Giving birth naturally to my baby girl was the most challenging and most magical experience of my life. Looking back, I truly can't imagine welcoming her into the world any other way. I'm forever grateful that this was my first birth experience. It was healing, empowering, and something I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Thank you to every single person at the birth center for helping bring my daughter into the world with so much love, respect, and heart. You gave our family a gift we'll cherish forever. And especially for me, as a woman and now a mother, I am soul grateful.

There is a variety of class offerings, from a more physical vinyasa class to a more restorative sound healing class. Unlike gyms and conventional studios, the rooms have no mirrors. I was so relieved when they were able to fit me in for a same-day morning appointment on a weekday. My massage therapist was Jessica and she is amazing! She provided so much relief. I was getting headaches from all the tension in my neck and shoulder area, but after seeing her I did not get a headache the entire day (and hopefully not for awhile). She skillfully worked on all my crunchy knots. I felt like a new person after just one hour. Jessica is also incredibly friendly and welcoming. She really listened to what I needed during this session and gave me helpful advice on stretches I can do on my own. The studio itself is simple and has three massage therapy rooms. If you want a fancy shmancy, frou frou place, this may not be what you're looking for. But if you're looking for serious massage therapy, I highly recommend coming here!

I was welcomed by another therapist and she offered me water and gave me paperwork to fill out. Unfortunately I felt disappointed during my massage and after I left. I've had many massages and prenatal massages and didn't leave feeling wowed like how I normally do. I'm 37 weeks pregnant and booked a 90 min prenatal massage. My therapist showed up just 3 mins before my scheduled appointment and she brought me into room #1 before being completely set up. The table was tiny (smaller than a normal sized massage table) and uncomfortable. There was an office door open within the room and I thought that was so weird it was left open. It felt awkward getting undressed. I'm just used to the lights being dimmed, music on prior to getting settled into the room. The massage was ok. I just felt like I was getting the same up and down movement along my spine for the majority of the service. I found myself saying "my shoulders hurt too." Hardly any time was spent on my legs, hips or arms. I wrote in my paperwork that I wanted to focus on my back and hips and verbally said my I.T bands hurt too. I did dooze off but at this point in my pregnancy anyone rubbing me down for 90 mins, anyone would. After getting off the table I felt like my hips still hurt due to the lack of padding on the table. Needless to say, I won't be rebooking. I don't feel my $135 was worth it. I know they can't help with the sound of airplanes taking off every 10 mins, but the Costa Mesa location in my opinion isn't ideal for relaxation.

I come across Mommy2Be Wellness and am excited to find an option that is specific focused on the unique needs I have at this point in my life. When I am ready to book, they insist on taking the full payment upfront. I have had in-home massages before, and I've only ever had to pay either a portion of the total, or nothing at all, to reserve my appointment. But I am in desperate need of a massage, so I send a Zelle. The night before my appointment, I realize I haven't heard anything from them. So I send a text (the primary form of communication) asking if we are still confirmed. I do not hear until the NEXT MORNING that they have to cancel as the masseuse assigned to me had been in a car accident the night before. Which is understandable, but I seriously question whether they would have communicated anything to me had I not reached out at all?? And from the messages it seemed like only then did they start to try to figure out if there was a back up person who could help me. They do not keep me updated - I have to follow up myself throughout the day. Mind you, my husband had organized his day to take care of the baby while I was supposed to be getting a massage. ZERO acknowledgement of the impact on me as a new mother (and us as a newly expanded family) of having to cancel last minute. They never proactively offer to reschedule either - I had to ask??? I tell them I am very flexible because I just want a massage. They ask if I can do 2 days later at 1pm, I say yes. Again, the night before, NO COMMUNICATION from them. I again reached out to ask if we were still confirmed. AND AGAIN they tell me that they cannot do the time that THEY HAD OFFERED ME. And asked me if I was flexible or if I could do another day. They asked if I could do after 6pm, which is a very odd time to get a massage in your house, let alone if you have a baby - I was shocked that they offered this?? At this point I was ready to be done with them so I asked them to issue a full refund which they agreed to and that at the time I believed they would do. They said their "billing department" issues refunds every few days and that it takes 5-10 business days to hit your account (???? I paid through Zelle???? so just Zelle me back????). I am texting and emailing daily, they said to keep waiting. Well I have been waiting now for almost 3 weeks and still no refund. All that to say - something that should have been relaxing and rejuvenating at this very precious time in my life became an avoidable and unnecessary hassle. BUYER BEWARE. SAVE YOUR MONEY and get a massage from one of the many other reputable options you have for mobile spa services in the area.

I took Sue's 930pm class (beginners) and after reading all of the other Yelpers reviews I think…read morewhat is truly missing is a clear picture of what actually HAPPENS in class rather than reviews of personal injuries and emotional platitudes that honestly are inspiring but will not help the wider community of individuals who just want to know what they're getting into. For one, this class really should NOT be labeled h2o YOGA. But rather better served as a water MOVEMENT and stretch class. As no traditional Yoga poses instructions (Asanas) such as Warrior, Half Moon, etc. are used. Instead she has uses her own vocabulary like Frogs pose that you must decipher. These instructions can be difficult to hear because of the splashing and swimming noise from the lap pool 8 feet away. This was at "quiet time" so I cannot imagine how awful this would be during peak hours with an entire swim team practicing next to you. The heated pool is shallow so you are at most neck deep at times. Each person is given two pool noodles and leg and wrist weights. However these aren't actual weights that you see in the gym but rather they are more like miniature life jackets wrapped around your limbs. The arm sequence was incredibly uncomfortable and did not resemble Yoga poses unfortunately. For example, you are told to hold the noodles apart, then overlap the noodles, then push the noodles underwater. If you have ever tried shoving pool noodles underwater for several minutes at a time, you know annoying it is, even if it a slight workout. Especially when Sue keeps telling you to "stop relying" on your arms, even though she is telling you to hold flotation noodles underwater...with...your arms. Though I did see in the promo photos of people doing tree pose underwater (which is what I was absolutely hoping for, the same wonderful Asanas but with less weight) That was not the case during my class. Instead it was the repetitious noodle sequence of: hold noodles apart, push noodles together, push noodles underwater. Again hold noodles apart, push noodles together, push noodles underwater. We did this sequence ad nauseam throughout the entire class. And though you could argue some of the same muscles may be used, so many poses execute best when you are at least in contact with a solid surface with some light gravity and resistance. For example, her "child's pose" was basically you bending your knees at your chest while holding the pool noodles. Some poses did not translate or were unrecognizable and labeled with her own vocabulary. And to be frank, I feel I did not get any sort of cardio, stretch or strengthening workout. If you are hoping to utilize this as an alternative, less weight bearing preparation for a regular yoga class, this is not it. This was more a water movement and stretch class for those who truly cannot do other forms of exercise and just want to rediscover movement again without the fear of going to a traditional gym. So why the two stars? This is where I felt there was severe lack of attunement. I have extremely low blood pressure (genetics) which means I get cold VERY quickly. I was forced to stand outside of the 90 degree therapy pool with my teeth chattering and shivering violently at the beginning of class while she gives me instructions. I tell her, "I am freezing may I at least stand in 3 feet of water while you give me instructions because my teeth are chattering so loudly I literally cannot hear you." She denies me flat out and says, "You can get in after I give you the instructions" and then continues on as if it was nothing. These lower back instructions could have easily been given while my legs are in water. So I am standing there in a dripping wet bathing suit, teeth chattering, lips blue while she herself was dressed in winter clothing: long pants, a long sleeved zip up, a beanie (ski hat), and UGG boots. Even though I am visibly distraught and verbally told her so. She denies me once again from entering the pool because I was still not doing the lower back movement right. At this point, I do not care what I am doing "right", I am just trying to avoid catching a cold!! And this is my first time, I may not catch on from your 5 minute speech. And no, this was not a question of safety if I didn't get this right away. As a first timer she tells me to follow other classmates as my guide. Great! However, I was placed in the front row with all of the other classmates behind me and no one next to me. So unless I had eyes on the back of my head, this was not impossible. Even when I was able to see the other classmates, you are chest deep in water so you cannot actually "see" clearly what movements they are doing unless your head is underwater with goggles. The lack of attunement, poor class set up and no resemblance to Yoga made me pass on this. But I encourage others to check it out and see for yourself. Prenatal sounds like it'd be great.

During my most recent 90-minute massage, the therapist introduced a treatment that was never explained to me or discussed beforehand. I left with significant marks on my legs for days afterward--something I absolutely would have declined had I been given the opportunity to make an informed decision beforehand. To their credit, management acknowledged my concerns and confirmed that this technique is not part of the massage service they offer. However, the resolution offered didn't reflect the seriousness of what happened. When I respectfully explained why I didn't feel it was appropriate and asked them to reconsider, I never received another response. Everyone makes mistakes. What matters is how a business handles them. Unfortunately, what began as an issue with informed consent ended with poor follow-through and communication from management. After years of supporting this business, spending hundreds of dollars on services and gift certificates, I expected much better. I hope they take informed consent more seriously and do a better job standing behind their services when they fall short.
