This hotel is located centrally in Downtown New Orleans directly on Canal Street. Be aware that there are steps in front of the hotel and not always a bellman present to assist. There is an attached garage entrance with no steps that leads directly into the hotel lobby. Travelers with bag should consider entering through or behind dropped off at the garage entrance. Once inside the hotel is clean and inviting. The staff are attentive and helpful. There is a lobby bar, pantry, and restaurant on site. The hotel is within a five minute walk to Bourbon Street and other local attractions and restaurants. We would recommend staying at this hotel location as we always stay here when in New Orleans.

The New Orleans Marriott is all about location. Sitting right on Canal Street, it's perfectly positioned between the French Quarter and the CBD, making it easy to explore the city without constantly needing transportation. The lobby is spacious and modern, with plenty of energy--especially during busy weekends and conventions. Check-in was smooth, and staff were professional and welcoming. Rooms are clean and comfortable, with solid views if you're high enough up. It's a large property, so expect some walking depending on where your room is located. The hotel amenities are what you'd expect from a Marriott: reliable, polished, and efficient. Nothing overly boutique or charming, but dependable and consistent. If you're visiting New Orleans and want convenience, comfort, and a central location, this is a strong choice. It may not have the intimate character of smaller Quarter hotels, but it delivers on reliability and access.

We first stayed at this hotel back in February when we came for my birthday. I really liked that there was parking/valet on site and we could safely pull to the hotel and unload without impeding traffic. The inside of the hotel is so beautiful and welcoming. The food and drinks are great at the bar. When we left then I told my husband next time we come, we are staying here again. So fast forward a little - one of my insurance organizations announces their 2025 summit, New Orleans. And it's this hotel! Talk about match made in heaven. The staff was so friendly and well put together for our event. They fed us at least 5 meals, and supplied snacks throughout the event (spread over 3 days). There was tons of space on the 2nd and 3rd floors for everything our event had planned. There were about 900 people in attendance and we all comfortably and safely fit. As a participant, the event went on without any issues and if I were to plan an event in New Orleans, this is certainly where I would go. We also stayed here 3 nights this trip and I can't wait to do it again!

According to Expedia, I've stayed at over 35 properties throughout the Americas, and I can say with all my heart that the New Orleans Marriott has the best staff members I've ever encountered. Ms. Jerkyra (I hope I'm spelling her name correctly) checked us in, and she truly set the tone for our entire stay. She greeted us with the warmest smile, reconfirmed all the details of our reservation, and took her time walking us through every perk of the property. She explained the complimentary tour available at the Sazerac House, shared details about credits we could use with the concierge toward booking excursions, and gave us a full lay of the property. It never felt rushed -- just genuine hospitality at its finest. I had originally booked a standard king room, but at check-in we were upgraded to a river-view room on the 35th floor. The views were stunning! To top it off, the culinary staff surprised us with chocolate-covered strawberries and a bottle of prosecco -- such a thoughtful and unexpected touch. The property itself was beautiful and impeccably maintained -- not a single piece of trash in sight. The location couldn't be better. It's within walking distance of what feels like hundreds of restaurants and bars, and just about a four-minute "skip and a bop" to Bourbon Street. I'm already planning my next trip to NOLA, and I will absolutely be staying at the New Orleans Marriott again. Such a pleasant, memorable experience from start to finish!

Let me ask this: did y'all start a renovation and forget to do the rooms?? The lobby is gorgeous. M Club is nice. Bathrooms down in the lobby very nice. Elevators. Nice. Rooms NO. Water pressure is THE worst. It's drizzling at best. The toilet flushes well but that's where it ends. The room nah. The lampshade was so filthy. It looked like sweat stains all across th lampshade. How did that happen. EW!!! My bed...well when you travel alone, you take advantage of two beds. I had one for after I had showered (shower before bed,) and one for if I hadn't. That bed had a fake lash in it, which I recognized as I used to have fake lashes. Then there was BLOOD on the sheets. Really?!?!OMG yuck. The bathroom was dingy, dark, no fan to help the humidity after a shower, the ceiling was low, stained, and the door jam had a bottle opener on it???? Oh man this hotel needs UPDATING. If it's so bad why 2 stars? Because th staff at the front desk were great. Attentive. And in the Club M the staff was Phenomenal. The hotel 1 star. Staff 4 star. Wouldn't stay again for sure!!

Solid 3 out of 5. As others have noted, the New Orleans Marriott seems to have undergone a recent renovation but the overall impact is spotty. Lobby is beautiful and the pantry, cafe, and restaurant are all well appointed. The fitness center and rooftop pool are also value adds. However, the guest rooms are on the smaller side and the bathrooms are cramped. Solid choice for work travel.

Pool. Nothing special but it's still nice.

Great location. Walking distance to everything. Their market has everything and also sells hot food. We purchased a pizza there. Good service and clean room! Our room had a nice view of the Mississippi River.

View of the Mississippi from our 32nd floor room.

Great location, nicely upgraded room, convenient amenities. If you're a light sleeper, this might not be the hotel for you since the French Quarter noise goes all night during the weekend. I would give this a solid 5 stars if not for the broken TV and shoddy WiFi in our room. We got a breakfast voucher which was a nice gesture, but when you're here for a conference - good and reliable WiFi is a necessity. All in all, would stay again.

Location location location! This hotel is definitely blessed by its proximity to some of the great spots one wants to stop by while visiting New Orleans. Rooms are clean but they wouldn't hurt from a little updating. Employees are nice and helpful. I definitely appreciate these employees when they continue to be nice while they're busy with guests and they seem to always be busy with guests. Definitely recommend this spot on your next visit.

Our national Smart Set conclave was held here this past weekend and we had a phenomenal time! My husband and I really did enjoy the hotel. However, the rooms are small and the bathrooms are tiny. I wish they had double sinks instead of one sink because it makes it difficult for both of us to get dressed at the same time. In fact, two people cannot be in the bathroom at the same time which is a bit of a bummer. The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed our view on the 30th floor. I did like that you didn't have to wait long for the elevators. Now here's some constructive criticism for management: the servers in the bar area are a bit slow. The first day that we got there Was quite the experience. While Miss Jackie was very nice to us. She certainly got out all of our orders mixed up. I ordered Sauvignon Blanc and she bought me Chardonnay. When I told her this was Chardonnay and not Sauvignon Blanc she then gave me Pinot Grigio. Finally she brought the proper glass of Sauvignon Blanc. I guess they say third time as a charm, right? The food there isn't bad for hotel food. The char grilled oysters were a little on the salty side, but they were tasty. The breakfast buffet is pretty good and they do have an omelette station there. The location of this hotel is perfect. It's right in the middle of tons of restaurants and bars that are all within walking distance. All in all my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

    City view from hotel room.

Is there a grocery store within walkable distance?

I can't think of any immediately close. There are places that sell snacks and drinks, and a few CVS/Walgreens.

The 2 things I care most about when staying in a hotel is a comfortable night's rest and a good bathroom/shower. The bed in our room was the most uncomfortable mattress I have ever slept on in my entire life. It was so mushy that when you laid your head down, you sunk so far into it that your legs were literally 45 degrees above your head. I ended up sleeping upside down in the bed with my head where your feet go in order to feel even remotely comfortable. The pillows were all extremely flat, when you put your head on one it sank so far your face was about 1/2 inch from the mattress. I had to use 3 pillows stacked on each other. I had a stiff back, neck and joints the entire time we were there. The 2nd issue was hot water. The first morning, we attempted to shower, it only got barely luke warm for me and when my husband showered immediately after he only got ice cold water. We stopped at the front desk that morning on our way out for the day and told the woman at the front desk. She said she hadn't received any other complaints so it must be specific to our room and she would send engineering there to look at it. (we were getting hot water in the sink). Later that evening when we returned to our room, we immediately tested the shower again and it was still ice cold. So we went back to the front desk to check if engineering had come. We spoke to the same woman from the morning who acted like it was the first time we were telling her this and she said the exact same thing. I asked if they were going to come ASAP because we needed to shower soon and we couldn't take ice cold showers. She ignored my question and answered the ringing phone. A manager happened to be at the desk and overheard our conversation. He asked what our room number was and said that because of the old building and the pipes the hot water takes longer to get there. He said this was a KNOWN Issue by the staff, management and the owner. He told us to run the shower for AT LEAST 15 to 20 minutes, simultaneously with the sink and it should get hot. He also offered to move us to a different room but when I asked if he could guarantee if we wouldn't have the same problem in that room he couldn't give me a straight answer. We had already unpacked everything and didn't want to go through that hassle without a guarantee. So we went back to the room and let it run for 20 minutes and it eventually got hot. So for the remaining 3 mornings, we had to set our alarms for 30 minutes earlier so we could get up and run our shower before hand. For nearly $300 a night, we felt that this was ridiculous. Old building or not, if its a problem, then either don't put people in those rooms, or get it fixed somehow. Why should anyone be subjected to an ice old shower or an inconvenience to their time because the owner hasn't done anything about it? We visited the hotel Bar, the Bourbon O'bar 3 times during our stay and each time we received TERRIBLE service. None of the bartenders were friendly to us, in fact they were pretty rude. Each time it took them at least 10 minutes to even take our order (by standing there and looking at us and not saying anything). The bar was not busy or crowded any of these times. They would then start making one of our drinks, put it down and make other people's drinks, leave and go into a back room, play on their cell phone, talk to each other, or carry the glass around while doing other things. My husband ordered an old fashioned and the alcohol was sitting in the jar with the ice for over 5 minutes while the bartender carried it around doing other things, causing it to get watered down. When making a cocktail, it should be completed from start to finish without doing other things in the middle. I ordered the Mardi Drop cocktail on 2 different days. The first time, it was actually very good. The 2nd time from a different bartender it was horrible .He also sprinkled probably a tablespoon of cinnamon on top of it (which the first didn't have) which made it nearly undrinkable. I had to stir it into the martini in order to not get a mouthful of cinnamon with each sip. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant Roux because of the bad Yelp reviews - we felt we could get a better breakfast elsewhere outside the hotel. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all unless you don't care about being comfortable or friendly service.
