Unfortunately I had to give 1 star as this is not an optional feature. Dry Cleaners damaged my clothes beyond repair. Told me it's no problem and that he will re-do and fix the problem. Clothes came back the same if not worse. They are now refusing to take responsibility for the damage. If you read a review by Lianne T here on Yelp for the same business, it's such a similar experience. The owner (grey haired guy) immediately came over denying any wrong on his behalf. I had no idea what he was talking about until I inspected the clothing. Terrible customer service, rude and arrogant. I do not recommend this place. They have terrible customer service and are oblivious of the value of a customers. My husband and I were loyal customers for over 4 years; we would take all types of items to them, from shirts to comforters, even my wedding dress. Until recently, when I took a pant to get tailored and they completely ruined it and refused to give me a refund for their terrible tailoring service. I had taken a pant to them to get tailored around the zipper area and the man at the front desk pinned a safety pin on the outside area around the zipper. I guess to show the seamstress where the pant needed to be fixed. And I thought to myself, what a ridiculously large pin to use for that, but I didn't think anything of it. The day came and I picked up my pant, went home and noticed the pant had a small hole EXACTLY where the man had put the safety pin. The hole was small but very noticeable. They tried to cover it by stitching over the hole, but it did not fool me, I am POSITIVE and KNOW that hole was not there when I dropped it off to them. In addition, the stitching on everything else was extremely sloppy. We called and they said to bring the pant so they can see it. So, my husband went personally at lunchtime to show them the pant and to ask for a refund. They refused to take responsibility and give us a refund, saying that they didn't do it, and that it wasn't them. Technically calling my husband and I liars. After we have been loyal customers for 4 years and NEVER asked for a refund even if at times, we weren't happy with their service. What would I gain by lying about this?! These people are just greedy and not very smart! All for a $15 refund! I was so upset I contacted my credit card company, informed them of what happened and disputed the $15 charge. My credit card company knows how valuable customers are and refunded me the $15 while the investigation went on. And although I got my $15 back, my pant is unwearable, so I lost my pant - I am out a pant and the money I originally spent when I bought the pant. I had to get a dress altered for a wedding (which was too long and needed to add fabric to the top bust). I called ahead and made an appointment to see Maria first thing on a Saturday morning. She was very professional and sweet. The actual fitting took no more than 10-15 min tops. They have a small dressing room to change in...nothing too fancy. I picked up my dress a week later and it fit like a glove! The measurements were very precise (I was worried about the length because I needed an exact floor length dress but Maria did a beautiful job!). I took a few items to this dry cleaner about 2 weeks ago ( have used before) to dry clean a few things. The most important was a sweater dress that I had worn for a very important occasion previously, that meant the world to me. I dropped said sweater dress off in perfect condition as it had only been worn just the once. I came in a week later to pick it up and saw my clothing sitting on a hanger as if after a week it had just been cleaned. The owner I assumed ( older man with gray hair) went to look for my clothing, I said to the woman ( older lady, dark hair) that my clothing was right there on the rack. Her response was " oh, those are your clothes" in a very terrible tone. The man comes from the other side of the store and immediately says " not my fault"! Like what is " Not your fault"? So apparently they dry cleaned my " dry clean only" dress on such a high setting that it melted all of the beautiful buttons off!! They refused to take accountability for the issue! I started crying as the dress was worn for an anniversary dinner and was very sentimental to me. They could have cared less! They just kept saying " not me, not my issue"! Ummm, yes it is YOUR issue! I brought my garment in perfect condition and it came back ruined! I had to argue just to get the cost of the dry clean to the dress taken off as they were still going to charge me after they ruined my garment. No empathy, no accountability at all! They also tried to blame the maker of the garment for the buttons melting. I will NEVER EVER EVER use this place again!! read more

Poor customer service and slow to clean. I would not recommend bringing any speciality item or finer garments here. My item came back 3 week late and this shop never had the courtesy to call and let me know that the first promised date wasn't met, or the second. I came into this shop 2 separate times and was told my item wasn't back yet only when I arrived (despite having my number). I was told that they would follow up with the service the sent the garment but had to call myself to get the status that they finally located it and had it in store ready. They were not apologetic or polite in any way when I pointed this out. If you're going to charge over 100 dollars for a cleaning of a skirt and top then you should at least do it well and with proper customer service. read more

Yes. New Pearl be good. It's always the same lady at the counter. She is cool. She sometimes remembers who I am, sometimes not. After checking my last name, she never fails to ask if my name is Claire. My name is not Claire. It's done on premises, so they can do it fast, like 2 days. It's not so cheap. Shirts are $1.50, pants are I think $6. My co-workers and I all go here and we have never had a problem with anything. read more

Love this local independent dry cleaners. They also have very affordable tailoring--and the tailor is so kind! I have this vintage 70's bikini that the elastic had worn out of, and had been told by several tailors that there was nothing they could do. Well, she sure could. And now it's wearable again! I needed a dress altered for my bridesmaid dress, which, unfortunately, didn't fit when I tried it on. Maria worked magic and at ny second during managed to open up the dress enough for it to zip and fit perfectly. By the third visit, the dress was exactly where it needed to be and fit. Thank toy so much Maria! I definitely plan to conne back and have Maria work on any alteration needs. She was sweet, never made me feel rushed and didn't judge me in any way. She understood what I need and did the best she could given my circumstances. And she's completely affordable and reasonable. I used to use these guys repeatedly, for dry cleaning and tailoring, and everything was ok. ...Then the comforter happened. It became time to clean my comforter, so I brought it to them, on Friday. Me: Hey do you do comforters? Female worker (owner, I assume): Yes. When do you need it by? Me: No rush. Female: How's Tuesday? Me: Ok Male worker (other owner, I assume): No it has to be Wednesday. (He looked concerned) Me: Oh, ok. As it turns out I was unable to pick up the comforter until 2 weeks after I dropped it off. I entered the store and handed the lady (same one) my ticket. She turns to the man who looks at the ticket and says, "Oh yeah I had to send that out to our other location. It'll be done tomorrow." Ok, fine, I can come back again, even though I was never notified that my comforter would take longer than I was told. I come back the next day and get, "Oh yeah it's still at the other store. I'll call you when it's ready." Now, it's like WTF. They either 1) don't know how to wash comforters 2) don't communicate with their customers when changes occur or 3) are lying through their teeth. Turns out it's option 3 because when I came back OVER A MONTH FROM WHEN I ORIGINALLY DROPPED IT OFF (after NOT having been called about it) he has a comforter AND ITS NOT EVEN MY COMFORTER!!! And all I get was, "Oh I'll check on that and call you." In summary, they screwed up, lied, didn't apologize, made no effort to remediate the situation, and of course I never got a call about it. I lost the money I paid to them for the cleaning AND the comforter. AND I had to buy a new comforter. I will not be returning to New Pearl ever in this lifetime. I understand people have had pleasant transactions there, but I highly suggest you go elsewhere. Or at the very least, don't bring your comforter there. read more

They are extremely helpful and accommodating-I needed to have a bridesmaid dress altered last minute and they turned it around in less than 24 hours, in addition to providing a same day clean & press service on a couple of men's dress shirts. Both the cleaning and alterations were expertly done (Maria, their seamstress, is absolutely WONDERFUL!). Prices are very reasonable and they also hand out coupons for various services. This review is mainly for Maria, their tailor. This was my first experience with a tailor and I had a little difficulty finding one that I could *hopefully* trust with my clothes. This place was nearby, and so I thought I'd give it a shot. I took a dress and a pair of pants in to be tailored, and just received them back today, and Maria did a fabulous job. They came back to me looking brand new and freshly pressed, and the alterations were so cleanly done, I would've sworn the dress was originally like that. Maria was lovely to deal with, and am very glad I took my clothes here! The space is pretty large and they have two dressing rooms so you can try on your clothes before she pins them up. Just make sure you call in advance because she's only there a couple hours for certain days. The prices were very reasonable (much lower than I was expecting!), which is always good. read more

Honestly, I can give them 4 stars for dry cleaning services. However, they are really bad at shoe cleaning although they claimed they can do cleaning even for suede UGG. I sent them a couple of pairs and found shoes with dark color look Ok after applying oil. However, shoes with light color don't have any change before and after. And when I sent that light pair, they said I can pick them up one week after. The fact is I went there for three times and finally got them back. Combined with the cleaning results, my experience is not good. And price is not competitive at all, regular cleaning: $10 for a pair. Special leather shoes cleaning: $35. So, I recommend just do dry cleaning with them and don't do leather cleaning there. read more

To be fair, the quality of their work is very good. I gave them one star because the lady who runs the shop is a blatant racist. She literally interrogated me to see how long I have been in US and where my accent is from. When I told her that I came to US 15 years ago, she looked at me and said "hmmm..., you've been here long enough, you are ok then!" We wanted to dry clean our son's Naval uniform in preparation for his annual inspection. My husband called both George's and New Pearl to inquire whether they have experience pressing Naval uniforms. The New Pearl owner sounded confident and stated that he has experience pressing Naval uniforms. The next day, the owner was not at the shop so Hubby talked to a woman and emphasized to her that the uniform must be dry cleaned and pressed to regulation. She confirmed that they know what to do. A few days later, my son and Hubby went to pick up the uniform and the creases were pressed incorrectly! The lady who did the pressing in the back did not speak English and just pressed it like any other suit whereas many sections of the Naval uniform should be pressed inside out. Even if the owner and the lady at the front truly knows how to press a Naval uniform, they sure did not tell the worker at back. When I came home to examined the re-worked uniform, many seams are STILL pressed incorrectly. Even assuming all of the seams were correctly pressed, there are many wrinkles surrounding the seams. This happens when someone is not careful in smoothing out the wrinkles before pressing on the seam. It was the worst press job that I have ever seen. Rather than wasting more time and aggravation dealing with New Pearl, I opted to press the uniform myself. Before this experience, I also introduced my friend to New Pearl and she also has the same bad experience with her son's uniform. She even brought a picture of how to press the uniform and it still did not help. In utter frustration, she took it to George's and the uniform was pressed perfectly. My friend and I both had poor experience at New Pearl and we will NEVER use New Pearl. read more

I took my wedding dress here to get cleaned and preserved because they had wonderful reviews. After I picked up my dress from the employee who was very rude I was given the wrong dress. I called as soon I realized and they said "oh shit let me look into it". After this unprofessional response I was extremely worried about the where abouts of my actual dress. With many phone calls later with no answers I brought back the dress I was given and they asked be "how do you know this isn't my actual dress". They asked for a picture of it, which I had on my phone. I was told this was not good enough and I needed a physical picture of the dress. Luckily, there was a CVS next door to print it out, but needed a picture of me wearing it to prove I wasn't lying about this being my dress. At this point I have not be given an apology and when I asked for a refund they asked why and they were hesitant to give it still without knowing where my dress was. Finally I was given a refund, days later and I still had no info where my dress was. After the employee called the company that cleaned my dress they finally found it. They told me it was ready for pick up, I went to pick it up and it still wasn't ready. A week later it was finally ready and they said "guess you're lucky you got a free cleaning". After all the heartache and headache this company caused me I was just relived to have my dress back. read more

We just moved to Metuchen and tried them for the first time. They singed the lining of the suit we had given for dry cleaning. When I took it back to the shop they told me it was "worn out". We certainly know the difference between something that's worn out and something that's singed! If I could post pictures I would; its ridiculous that they fool customers in such a manner.
