BY FAR my favorite place to get tacos! Their carnitas tacos are so flavorful, juicy and fresh tasting. Their Al Pastor tacos also taste great! They give you lots of fresh cilantro, onions and lime. The salsa verde here is also my favorite, perfectly spiced and I pour it all over. The tortilla chips are homemade and sturdy and the guacamole never disappoints. I also love their flautas when I'm in the mood. There's lots of spots in the neighborhood but I always come back here 9/10 times. I ended up with food poisoning after eating al pastor tacos from this place. Although I must say this was the first time I had ordered my tacos inside the restaurant, Iv noticed this issue never happens with the kind man that works outside on the grill . Authentic Al Pastor tacos. In Brooklyn. On the sidewalk and everything... Having just moved here from California, I dreaded the potential selections of Mexican cuisine. Little did I know this gem existed at the end of my block. The pastor is fantastic, and it's also the only thing I've gotten from them. I just need my pineapple pig fix. I came across this restaurant and was drawn by the smell and the man outside cutting up pastor. I walked in to order to go. They don't speak any English! So it was difficult for me to order because they don't have any menus (Look online before you go. You can find their menus on some websites.). I couldn't order any of their specialty dishes since I didn't know what they had, so I ended up ordering an Al Pastor Burrito. This is definitely a traditional Mexican place! They serve you the burrito with some lettuce and guacamole on the side. I ordered 2 chorizo cemitas and instead they send me chicken cemitas. I call and the lady asks if I would like my order changed , I said yes. It took them literally a whole hour to bring me my chorizo cemitas. Waited 2 hours to finally be able to eat. Unbelievable. And when I got the cemitas the chorizo was burnt and toasted. I really wanted to like this place as their menu selection is awesome, the other reviews were great and it's close to me, but... I really can't give it more than two stars, and those are for their menu selection and the staff being super friendly; otherwise the food quality was very poor. One of our party got a carnitas cemita and even though the presentation was good, the "meat" was mainly inedible gristle which made the whole sandwich quite disgusting. Same went for a pastor torta and other tacos. New Santa Ana could be a very legit Mexican place but they need to start by upping their protein game; you guys can't keep feeding your customers poor meat; it's just not right. read more
