After a couple of rounds, Henry the (mis)manager refused me service, so a friend offered me his beer, which I took a sip from. Henry's colleague, this miserable and rude woman, then proceeded to shout and scream like an immature child at me - a customer - how I'm making them unsafe at work and demanding that I leave the premises. Of course I leave, who enjoys being screamed at? A few minutes later I'm sitting outside the venue on the street and I'm on the phone to my friend, still at the bar, asking when he'll leave, when Henry comes out to harass me, accusing me of screaming - funny, his idiot colleague just did that to me, yet it's okay if she behaves that way. Isn't that funny? Refusing service is part of your job. Screaming and abuse is not. If you are that incompetent at a simple task and need to resort to shouting to solve a problem, you are clearly in the wrong job. The venue was practically empty, even on Sunday afternoon, which is highly telling of the quality of staff. An extremely disappointing and upsetting experience, Henry and his idiot colleague are an embarrassment to the brewing label and the craft, as a whole.

Their flight blocks are cute and fun and made out to resemble a little train cart. They have 9 taps for beer and have quite the selection. Currently they have 'good grief charlie' a brown ale and 'wheat in the knees' which were all amazing. They have a tiny kitchen with a small but heart menu of salads, chilli cheese dogs and flatbreads (and a few other things). The staff are absolutely amazing, knowledgeable and will do anything for you, as someone who prefers a root beer to beer - they went out of their way to get me a sprite (which blew my mind). My partner absolutely enjoyed this lovely time. They also have a few games to play! Highly recommend this little brewery, it's small but it is mighty delicious.

Follow them on Facebook and Twitter and I think Instagram too - so you know their hours, what's new on tap, what's on the guest taps (buy local!). Trivia night #2 was a success! We ordered pizza this time from Rocky Lake Pizza across the street and omg that was the perfect meal paired with the perfect Off Track brew. I had the Sessional IPA on tap 8 (I forgot the name) and it was soooo tasty that I had two (not like me). The rest of my party went for the Damn Skippy (peanut butter mmmmm - you have to try it). Flights are a way to sample several brews - usually I do that. Love the merch! Normally, I don't buy this stuff from places but I have several items already and I'm most definitely getting the zip up hoodie next time. Lots more I can say, like... Dog friendly establishment. Projector for watching "the sports". Clean. Friendly faces - who will explain the various brews on tap. No kitchen - but you can bring your food there - ask the guys, they'll be happy to help.

They've got a great selection of craft beers and cocktails--I went with the Purple Haze and really enjoyed it. Refreshing, balanced, and not overly sweet. For food, I ordered the Chicken and Waffle Sandwich, and wow--it was incredible. Super flavourful, perfectly cooked, and impressively held together even with the runny (and delicious) egg on top. My wife went with the New Orleans pasta, and we were really impressed by how accommodating the kitchen was with her dietary restrictions. They happily swapped out the chicken and ham for shrimp, and the dish still came out beautifully done. You can tell the chef really loves what they do--it absolutely shows in the quality and care of the food. It's easy to see why this place is a local favourite. Great vibe, great service, and fantastic food and drinks. Highly recommend!

Our favourites were the Vic Park, Beacon Blonde, Blueberry Ale, and Honey Wheat--all incredibly well-crafted, fresh, and flavourful. As for the food, it was fantastic. I had the Chorizo and Chicken Penne--perfectly cooked pasta tossed in a rich Cajun cream sauce that really stole the show. The spice level was spot on, and both the chorizo and chicken were tender and packed with flavour. My wife went with the Lobster Mac and Cheese, and it was equally impressive. The lobster was fresh and flaky, and the mac itself was creamy, cheesy, and just the right level of indulgent. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. If you're in Halifax and want great food paired with top-notch local brews, Gahan House should be high on your list.

It is a gorgeous old building in downtown Halifax, and in the last number of years the direction has been shifting; attempting to transition from its fairly stuffy roots, into something a little more accessible and perhaps more appealing to a younger crowd. Last night I attended a theatre performance at The Halifax Club. Zuppa, an amazing local theatre company, staged their play "Penny Dreadful" in the Uniacke room. The play is set in the 1800s so The Halifax Club as a venue, with its high ceilings and large paintings, was a very appropriate choice for the ensemble. The Pryor room bar was open before and after the show and our charming bartender Alex was helpful and generous. I enjoyed a glass of red wine for $7.5 while my date's beer was about $5.5. All of the people we encountered during our evening were very friendly and fun. If you happen to be invited by a member to dine or attend a function at The Halifax Club, you should accept the invitation. If you're hoping to become a member, check out the website. I'm sure it's not cheap, but you can feel both a sense of excitement and nostalgia knowing that you're walking the same halls that James C. Cogswell and William Cunard once did.

He walked us through the menu and any rentals we needed (dance floor) and was really accommodating. We had the place to ourselves and they were able to let the wedding party in early for photographs (damn rain...the only rainy Labour Day weekend in almost ten years, I swear). The food was great. I loved that I didn't have to worry about decorations - a few flowers, a bit of sheer fabric to match our colours on the table and boom! the place was ready to go. My guests loved it and kept saying how classy my wedding was, but it was all because I chose this as my venue. (disclaimer: this is all based on the service I had in 2004).
