Upon our arrival two staff members with sincere smiles upon their faces greeted us by name. Throughout our five day visit, the owners and staff were there to answer any questions and/or offer guidance in purchasing train tickets or recommending restaurants. The service was second to none. The breakfasts in the morning were plentiful, homemade, and delicious. The views from the breakfast balcony and our room (Number 5) were nothing less than breathtaking. The room and hotel property was spotless; the grounds well taken care of with lemon, orange, and olive trees with fragrant flowers. The hotel's proximity to the old town is ideal for walking and for getting to the train and/or ferry for excursions. My husband and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a top shelf experience in one of the most magical places in the world. Thank you to Carla and Matteo for making our visit such a very special one!

Owners, Carla & Matteo made our stay so memorable. They are the most caring & hospitable hosts I have ever met, concerned about every guest. I so enjoyed getting to know them. And I loved all the staff - Paula & John are outstanding professionals & eager to help, the breakfast ladies were amazing - everyone is like family. The hotel is beautiful! So serene, you can't help but relax. Everything was immaculate. Our lovely room was tastefully furnished with a comfortable bed, a desk & chair, a large wardrobe that held all of our things, a refrigerator, and our own balcony where we sat every morning & evening enjoying the beautiful view of the town & the sea. They have thought of every convenience from welcoming snacks in the refrigerator to printouts & helpful tips about the area. Bathrooms are stocked with shampoo, conditioner & body wash. A hair dryer is provided. Ample plugins. After a long day of hiking, a refreshing shower & cooling air conditioning was wonderful. The breakfast buffet was set on the main balcony with an option to eat indoors. It was so delicious with everything you could want - bacon & eggs, fresh juices, meats & cheeses, yogurt & granola, fresh fruit, and delicious homemade desserts every day. (The lemon tart was my favorite) Matteo made it so easy for us to purchase a discounted Cinque Terre card that included the trains & a reservation for Via dell'Amore. He was very helpful about the ferry schedule - it is a short walk to catch the ferry. Ask about Restaurant recommendations - (Galin was our favorite). Everyone is so kind & helpful with such great service - even filling your water bottles with ice & water for your hikes, towels for the beach, and quick, reasonable laundry service. And don't miss Carla's fantastic Pesto Cooking Class! It was such fun & so delicious to eat after we made it. We even got the recipes. Make sure to reserve your spot. While the hotel is up a small, steep hill, we were able to walk up pulling our wheeled carryon luggage without a problem. The hotel will arrange a taxis for you from the train station if needed. They also have car parking, which is rare. Once at the hotel, you can walk through the lovely lemon grove down some steps arriving right on the main street of Old Town. The best of both - scenic quiet hillside, yet still in town. There is a small beach in Old Town and also just a 10 -15 minute walk to New Town beaches. Easy walk to the train station and the trails. The hospitality and location are the best you will experience, well worth the price. We stayed 4 glorious nights & I hated to leave. I feel Carla & Matteo are our dear friends now. They made us love Cinque Terre even more and we will not stay anywhere but Hotel Villa Steno! More Date of stay: June 2026

The positives: - This hotel is located on the edge of the Widener University campus, and the university maintains a security presence in this area. - A very nice Pizzeria Uno is right across the street. - A 24 hour 7-11 is right there in this little complex, as well as a TD Bank branch. - Modern hotel. - Ample free parking. - Some rooms have a nice view of the campus. - My friend's room had a sofa bed for an extra guest. The negatives: First, there is only one elevator to serve 4 floors. It is possible this could cause some inconvenience when everybody wants to use it suddenly. Second, my good friend was startled when approached in the parking lot at 11 o'clock at night. He had already closed and locked his car door. So no quick retreat was possible. It turned out the man merely was there to beg money from the out-of-towners. My buddy was spooked though. He quickly gave the guy $10 and felt glad he got away without a problem. Then he decided he wanted a snack. He went to the 7-11 next door and a woman begged him for money so she could eat. (!) All of this was completely unexpected. He spent his last bills on a candy bar for himself and the same thing for the woman. Two young men, who were also hanging around outside the 7-11, told him that was really nice. So that made him feel good. But overall it was an uncomfortable situation for him. I saw his room. It was comfortable, and had an interesting 4th floor view. I saw no house cleaning issues. And he had gotten a deal. He said if he uses this hotel again in the future, he'll be certain to bring small bills.

The 2 Queen bed room that we stayed in was designed and laid out like any other SpringHill Suites hotel we've stayed in with the shower and toilet placed in separate rooms. However, the room and hotel, in general, had signs of it being worn out a bit - like old elevators and cracks. The complimentary breakfast, which goes from 6-9 AM on weekdays and 7-9:30 AM on weekends, was subpar compared to our other SpringHill Suites experiences. They did have a hot breakfast, but the scrambled eggs and turkey sausage patties weren't great and mostly dry. There were some cereals, bagels and oatmeal, but that was pretty much it when it came to the food. As for beverages, they had your typical juices (apple, orange, cranberry), individual chocolate and reduced fat milks (which was nice) and coffee. Oh, and to top off the subpar experience, they charge you $15 per night if you park here. Don't think I've ever paid to park at a Marriot hotel, but there's always a first. Overall, not the best Springhill Suites, but it's probably still better than 90% of hotels out there.

Like a combination of spicy food and body odor. I had them come up and spray but it didn't help much. The hotel was sold out and I had to tough out the nasty smell all night. The chair at the desk in the room was broken. It wouldn't stay at the height and kept sliding down so low and tilting back. Unusable. Asked for another chair and they brought up one not even close to tall enough to use. Ended up having to do 2 hours of laptop work on a very uncomfortable ottoman. Apparently they started sneakily charging $15/night for parking. I've stayed here each year for the last 5 years and never had a parking charge before. The gym stationary bike had paint splatter all over it. Can't believe they didn't clean it off. The late night front desk gal wreaked of cigarette smoke. Not sure what happened to this place. Probably a change of ownership. I won't be back because it's now on par with a Best Western or Holiday Inn. Marriott needs to keep better tabs on its franchisees.

Check-in was smooth, but the Hilton Honors welcome bag was a little disappointing (just two bottles of water and a couple mints). We had a room at the end of the hall on the top floor, which was nice because there was a large wedding party staying at the hotel and we were far away from any potential noise. Our room was quite spacious, with a sitting area that could have easily accommodated a second king-sized bed. The lighting was a little dim - the entryway was bright, but the room otherwise only had a corner lamp on one end of the room, a table lamp on the desk, and two lamps on either side of the bed. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were not as fluffy as we would like. They were feather pillows that compressed quite a bit when you lay your head on them. They also were smaller than typical king bed pillows. The TV was mounted on the wall between the bed and the couch, so it was at a 90 degree angle from both. Though it did swivel about 45 degrees in both directions, there was no way to watch TV straight on unless you were sitting at the desk in the middle of the room. The bathroom was also spacious and brightly lit, with plenty of counter space. The towels were soft and fresh. The water pressure in the shower was excellent, but it took a long time for the water to warm up. The free breakfast was good, but not spectacular. I always enjoy the waffle machines, and thankfully there wasn't too long of a wait to use them on both mornings. The eggs / omelets were a little flat (I believe they are premade and frozen and shipped to the hotel to be reheated). The sausage links were good and moist. The muffins were a bit on the dry and hard side. There were limited fruit options (bananas and apples). The orange juice was a little watery. So, this is about what I'd expect from a Hampton Inn. This place has the added advantage of being very close to downtown Media, with a lot of dining options. I guess that makes it somewhat unique among the Hampton Inn chain, which tend to be on the outskirts of town or more commercial / industrial areas. We'd certainly consider staying here again.

They had just repaved the parking lot, that day, and half of it was closed off. We found a spot when we got there to check in during the late afternoon, but my Brother went out late night and came back and there were no spots. Thankfully, they let him park his car under the overhang by checkin and our car was still there in the morning ;-). We also had a room on the first floor and when we got inside, the AC didnt work. It wasn't too hot, but I need my AC in the hotel for white noise and I like to sleep cold. The front desk guy switched our rooms right away when I brought it to his attention, so that was good. Would I stay here again? Yeah, probably. The room and beds were comfy and it was located near where we had to be.

What confused me during our stay was we had two rooms, one an accessible room on the third floor, and the other a queen double on the second. I have stayed in both these areas before. The accessible room seemed unchanged. The second floor was very odd. First off, the fantastic soundproofing seems to have vanished -- at least, inside the hotel. The outside is still inaudible, as it was built to shield guests from the sounds of trains. But inside? I could hear our neighbors talk, I could hear their alarms, I could hear the elevator ding and the machinery (it was four doors down, so not that close). There were odd sounds from machinery in the walls and the HVAC systems I don't remember. Then we had a weekend with basically no hot water and no water pressure. Oh, the water trickled out, but it did so at a very tepid temperature and with less pressure than even any water-restricted California shower I've ever seen. I've never ever had such a problem here before. Then a local friend said they'd had renovations and added capacity. Did they -- gut the rooms and subdivide? That would account for the fact the room seemed smaller than I remembered; it would account for having lost the internal soundproofing but not the external, if they did a terrible job at the renovation; and perhaps they didn't bother to upgrade the floor hot water heater (our family member in the accessible room on the third floor did not seem to have this problem), or the plumbing capacity, and what we were getting was water at low pressure after everybody else on the floor had used it. (Although I had the same problem the middle of the day Saturday as I did Saturday and Sunday morning). I won't hold the pathetic EV charger situation against the Inn per se, since it apparently is a college problem: the chargers are limited to four hours! At a slow level 2 J-1772, this meant we got about 15% charge a day. This is ludicrous. I am willing to pay for the charge (the four hours a day is free) if I can, you know, actually charge the car. Limiting it to four hours on the basis of demand is pointless; all the spots were filled on Friday, and none of them charging, because it turns out they were all occupied by staff members of the college who went home at the end of the day and occupied the spot for eight hours, charging only four. The college's commitment to EVs seems -- I can't use a word that expresses this properly. Inconsistent with its avowed Zero by 2035 goals. (All the chargers on campus are the same, and there aren't that many of them, plus you can't use them if you're a visitor, anyway.) The location is perfect if you are visiting the college, but there's a lot going wrong here right now and I'm very, very disappointed. The staff are still extremely nice (especially housekeeping) so I can't downgrade it all the way, but this is worse than the Hampton Inn in Media now, for half again as much each night. There's only so much I'm willing to pay for location.

The room itself is fine. Bedding is clean, floor is clean. However, the air conditioner sounds like a jet engine when it kicks on. It is so loud that it woke me out of a dead sleep, twice. The toilet is absolutely disgusting. It looks like no one has put a brush in there in two weeks. I went to take a shower this morning and I don't dare even turn the water on because there is a huge crack in the floor of the tub. I told them at the front desk (so they didn't think I did it) and she said they knew. ‍ Breakfast is OK. They do have hot foods which some places are not doing anymore, so that is a plus. But there is no orange juice or apple juice, just cranberry and a disgusting lemonade. And they don't replenish. Get there early or don't get fed. EDIT: Day 2: breakfast starts at 6:30. I have been down there twice and it's not open yet. It's 7:42. There are a bunch of little things that let you know their staff doesn't do a thorough cleaning. Like the microwave had 7 seconds left on it, so I know it wasn't cleaned. A dirty sock left in the cubby. My phone didn't charge overnight because the wall plug is worn out and my drinks in the mini fridge froze overnight. And there is an ironing board but no iron. I had to explain the whole thing again, from the start. Another 20 minutes at the front desk.
