Holiday Inn Express & Suites Carneys Point - Pennsville - In the bathroom (IN PLAIN SIGHT)

This was the last night of our trip, and since it was the weekend, we were looking for a relatively…read moreinexpensive place to stay that would be reasonably good, have free breakfast, and be close to Philadelphia International Airport. We found it here. This hotel has good rooms, a good plentiful free breakfast, and is only 30 minutes to the Philadelphia International Airport, albeit via a toll bridge. However, the difference between staying here and staying in Philadelphia or Delaware was large enough, at least on the weekend, to outweigh the toll. As a bonus, since it's in New Jersey, we were able to top off the rental car with gas at cheap New Jersey prices. That made this hotel a great place to stay before flying out of Philadelphia International Airport.

Let's start with my experience at this hotel: don't waste your time here. You're better off driving…read morea little farther to the Holiday Inn in Swedesboro or choosing any IHG property in Delaware. Before my arrival, the General Manager emailed me because the credit card I had on file declined. Instead of calling, texting, or even leaving a voicemail, they only sent an email. I'm not someone who constantly checks my phone, so I didn't discover the issue until about two hours before arrival--only to find out my reservation had already been canceled. That was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. The only positive part of my stay was the night front desk associate, who was very friendly and helpful during check-in. As an IHG Platinum member, I received a room upgrade, but unfortunately the room was in terrible condition. It was outdated, worn down, and clearly in need of major renovations. Based on previous reviews, it appears the front desk staff also handles housekeeping duties, which may explain why cleanliness was lacking. The bathroom wasn't properly cleaned, and there were stains on the bed sheets near the nightstand. The hotel itself feels neglected. Even the television appeared to be from the early 2000s and had not been updated. To make matters worse, when I checked out and reviewed my receipt, I noticed an additional $11 charge. The front desk agent was new, so after waiting about 10 minutes, we compared my reservation confirmation with the hotel bill and discovered I had been charged for the room upgrade--even though I am an IHG Platinum member and upgrades should be complimentary when available. Overall, this was one of the worst IHG hotel experiences I've had. Between the poor communication, outdated rooms, cleanliness issues, and incorrect charges, I would not recommend staying here.

In this case, it's because this Super 8 is exceptionally bad. In fact, this has got to be one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. Upon checking in, I hurried to my room for a shower and some sleep. Nevertheless, my room did not come with any soap. I had to go all the way down to the front desk to bring back a single bar of soap. Once I brought the soap back to my room, I noticed that the shower curtain had what appeared to be a blood stain - absolutely gross! On top of that, this hotel is extremely stingy. For example, when I asked for more towels, the front desk attendant gave me just A SINGLE TOWEL. This has never happened to me before. In fact, the previous hotel I stayed in, a Days Inn (also a Wyndham property), gave me an entire stack of towels when I asked for more towels. Overall, I am done with the Wyndham brand. I've stayed in some pretty bad Wyndham properties, but this has got to be one of the worst!

I got this place at a better rate than nearby Red Carpet... plus it's in better shape here. However…read moreI can't stand getting hit with those $100 deposits! Bad enough a night costs $100, now I have to wait up to '10 business days' for it to go back in. Also the customer service number closes at night and doesn't open back up until 9am... the operators are in Bumfk India anyway.

This was hands down one of the most disappointing hotel stays I've ever experienced. We had barely…read morewalked in, and I was already counting down the minutes until I could leave and write this review. The staff were shockingly rude--especially the woman with red hair in the cafeteria, who seemed irritated by the mere existence of guests, snapping at people like we were a burden rather than paying customers. And the room? Absolutely unbelievable--in the worst way. It was so dirty it felt like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. I had to drape sheets over the couches just to sit down without feeling gross, thanks to visible stains, what looked like layers of grime, and an alarming amount of dog hair--despite specifically booking a hypoallergenic room. The kitchen was practically useless, with barely any equipment to prepare even a simple meal, and to top it off, the coffee machine didn't even work. The bathroom sink was clogged and emitted a strong rotten egg smell that filled the room--it was impossible to ignore, even when trying to sleep. We're supposed to stay here for a few more days, but honestly, it feels like a nightmare I can't wake up from. I've never been so eager to check out of a place in my life.

Someone answered and said that they could. When I arrived later that day, Jeannette checked me in and gave me a great room on a higher floor with a great view of the Christina River. Jeannette later told me that she had replied to my text. Our room was perfect. It had everything that we requested starting with a king bed. The room had a small kitchen area. There was plenty of desk space and a small sofa with a computer desk. The bathroom was adequate. The view from the room was great. It was nice that we could see a high school rowing race one morning from our room. Breakfast is served downstairs. They had a pretty good offering of breakfast items. They had the usual items like scrambled eggs, sausage and potatoes. One of the mornings they served a smoked chicken for smoked chicken burritos. It was different and good. Along with these breakfast items, they also had coffee and juices. The gym is located on the first floor. They had sanitizing wipes to clean the machines before and after using the machines. A large screen tv was there for watching. Ellipticals and treadmills are available for you to use. It was enough for a good workout. The Homewood was a good hotel for me. Both my wife and I liked it. If in this area again, we would stay here again.
