I needed to get our 2 story house painted as the house had not been painted in 18 years. After numerous bids, I met with New Shades Painting Owner Steve, and decided to go with him. My husband's birthday was 6 weeks away and I really needed to have the house painted before the party. I was indecisive on the paint color. Steve provided numerous samples for the body and trim. He really worked with me and was so patient! We decided on the color and we scheduled it. He was going to be out of town and he said his crew supervisor Martin would be on site to ensure the job was completed. I was in good hands. Steve power washed the house prior to the painting and it looked so much better. On the morning of the job, Martin and crew arrived on time. The crew was so polite and efficient. Everyone had a job to do and they worked really fast. The covered the windows and bushes, then scraped, patched and painted the house, fascia, garage door and pop out trim around the windows. Once done, when we were inspecting the work, we saw that the crew had painted the little work shed we had on the side of the house to match the house! Martin even painted a small gate next to it as he said it finished the new look and these were birthday presents to us. We were blown away. That was so considerate of them to do that!! Martin and his crew were amazing, love these guys!! Once they finished, they cleaned up their equipment and were gone. Again, so efficient. The house looked phenomenal AND it was done before the party!! What a huge difference!! We are so happy with New Shades Painting Company! Not everyone goes beyond what is needed, but New Shades sure did. This review is LONG overdue...my fault. BUT when a job is done right the company and crew needs to be acknowledged. Their quotes were comparative but Steve's knowledge and patience to not paint without providing paint samples won me over. He was very knowledgeable about colors and hues and what would look best on my house. After s few weeks, I finalize my colors and love how it turned out. We just had our home painted by New Shades Painting. We couldn't be happier with the results! Steve came out to give us a very reasonable quote. He was personable and full of knowledge. As soon as our HOA gave us the approval for our colors Steve set up a day to power wash the house himself. he then scheduled a day to paint. Our house was painted in ONE day! The crew was very nice and Martin in particular was courteous and let us know what they were doing. We still can't believe they painted the house in one day. It was hot and it didn't slow them down a bit. Another plus is the communication through the whole process. Steve kept in contact while our HOA took their time with our paperwork. He also stopped by in the morning of the painting day then again in the afternoon. He called us in the evening to make sure we were happy with everything. We are so happy with the results and love, love, love the new paint on our home! It was great working with Steve from the beginning and throughout the process. He's so professional, knowledgeable, real nice and funny! Steve is very paint knowledgeable (exterior painting is exclusively what he specializes in), educating us in the process even before he gave his estimates and said even if we may not have gone with him, he pointed out things to look out for and stuff. He was super accommodating (arrived same day multiple times throughout last week to shoot sample colors to match stucco, colors for trims and pop-outs and doors for us), helping us with the color scheme and exact match to our home's original paint colors and he made sure everything/our concerns were addressed and taken care of to our requests and specifications. His 6 men crew showed up before 8am today and were very professional, hard workers and they finished just before 5pm. We obtained multiple estimates and quotes and Steve's was middle range of the written quotes/estimates obtained. Others came in below or higher. The ones that came in below didn't seem very thoughtful about their work and inspection before rendering their quotes. The ones that came in high were trying to up sale us on premium paint (which not necessary for certain colors and not much difference from high to standard in product quality) and offered more or less number of years in warranties in wood and stucco but Steve's estimates was most reasonable overall. When the work was finished, Steve made sure we were completely happy and satisfied with everything before accepting any payments from us! Pleasure working with you Steve! New Shades definitely exceeded all expectations! We were shopping around to get the exterior of our house painted and re-stain our wood fence. We took one Saturday and had about 6 painters come out to give us estimates. On that same day, to fill in the gaps between appointments,  my Hubby and I continued to peruse Yelp to see if we can get more painters to come in that day to give us a quote. New Shades had great Yelp reviews and is local to Corona so we decided to give him a call. We were fortunate that Steve was able to stop by on such short notice to take a look at our house. Steve was very patient listening to what we needed done. He offered us his honest opinion and just from that first meeting, we were thoroughly impressed.  After going over everything, he informed us that he will be emailing over the quote, which we totally understood. Once we received the email on Monday, it was by far one of the most professional estimates we received. Not only it included the proposal, but also addresses of houses they have painted and product information on the paint. Plus, it was within our budget! As I said, exceeded expectations! A week later, we asked Steve to stop by again to ask him more questions.  Not long after his arrival, we decided to have New Shades paint our house. We went over color schemes and schedules. Quick side note, my hubby and I wanted to do Dunn Edwards paint and had chosen a color scheme prior to getting estimates. Steve wanted to paint samples of the colors we chose on the house. We thought we didn't need to, but we are so happy he did that because I personally did not like the color we chose as the main color. That would've been an epic fail! And since he had an idea on what we wanted the house to look like, he came back the next day to paint 4 more shades of light brown on our house. And he came back one more time to paint samples of the cream shades for our trim. Again - exceeded expectations! Three days before "paint" day, Steve himself came to power wash our house. He again went over how "paint" day was going to go and answered any last minute questions we had. "Paint" day came and Steve's crew arrived by 8am - all 8 of them, including Steve! They prepped, caulked, patched, replaced bad siding, stained, painted, and finished our 2-story house and fence by 6pm! They even moved our stuff away from the house and fence! And installed 5 new wall lights for us! We were so impressed by Steve and his crew that the least we can do was provide a pizza lunch and supplied them with cold bottled water throughout the day. Their attention to detail and efficiency is evident in their work! At the end of the day, Hubby and I were so happy on how the house and fence turned out.  We want to thank Steve and his awesome team for a job well done! This review is long overdue. I've been remodeling my home since May and have worked with and met a lot of contractors and those alike. Majority of them I disliked by the end of the project. Steve deserves six stars, no joke. I already paid him last week and he's back at my house this week fixing microscopic blemishes that he found after the fact. It was a windy day when they painted so I guess the tape had rubbed up against some parts but you couldnt see it unless you were up there on a ladder. I would have never known or seen it....but he is still fixing them without me asking! Not to mention we tried to pay him when he was done and he told us no. We had to wait a week and make sure we were happy until he would accept our check. Oh, and he doesnt accept any deposit or progress payment; nothing until after the job is done. The work is excellent, his staff is super nice and clean, and the pricing is fair (second cheapest bid we received out of 5). Lastly, I didn't have to lift a finger. I have all kinds of random items next to my house or leaning against it and they moved it all for me and moved it back when they were done. Best experience i've ever had with a contractor of any kind. P.S.- He finished power washing one day and stucco repair and paint all in another. My house is about 1700sq/ft. My husband and I were very impressed from start to finish with Steve! He was the third quote we got to paint the exterior of our house and we're so glad we finally found him! We really appreciated his candidness and honesty. We were thinking of painting the patio cover that wraps around the back of our house and he told us honestly that he wouldn't if it were his house. The paint job probably wouldn't last long and gave us other suggestions as to what we could do with it. I am sure, based on their reviews, they do great work but I never found out. I attempted three separate times to contact them by email and voicemail with no response for days. I finally got a response by email from Steve Hultgren with the following excuse: "Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, we were out of town. Can you send me your address and the best time to take a look?" I did respond to Steve's email by listing when it was best to reach me for an estimate. I never heard back from him either by phone or email again.
