Who would've thought our highlight meal in Puerto Rico would be Chinese food? Of all the spots we tried on our trip, this place completely surprised us. Service was pretty standard -- we were greeted as soon as we walked in, and luckily it wasn't too busy at that time (the night before it had been packed, so I was glad we missed the rush). We chose our own table, and the waitress came right over to help us out. We ordered the California roll, chicken fried rice, and Thai chili wings. The California roll was good, nothing over the top but solid. The chicken fried rice was really flavorful, but the star of the show -- without question -- were the Thai chili wings. They were absolutely delicious, the kind of dish that makes you wish you had ordered extra to take home. Honestly, I regret not going back the night before just to grab some more. The ambience was what you'd expect from a typical Chinese restaurant -- nothing too flashy, but it didn't need to be. The food carried the experience. We stopped in to this pretty Japanese restaurant for a quick lunch and the food was very good. I always judge Asian restaurants by their Hot & sour soup and this one did not disappoint! The soup was rich, the broth spicy, the tofu and veg plentiful and just yum. MG had the Spicy tuna roll (I had a couple of pieces) and it was very fresh and perfectly spicy. This is probably the only dim sum place in San Juan and probably the entire island. The exterior is nothing fancy and the interior was surprisingly clean and well maintained. The dim sum menu was not extensive but they did have most of the staple items. For PR, the dim sum was good however the taste and texture was different than what you'd get in Chicago, SFC, NYC. The server took our order promptly and food was delivered reasonably fast. This is a great option if you have a taste for dim sum. read more

Great little Asian Fusion restaurant on the Condado strip, in San Juan, PR. This was one of my favorite finds. It doesn't look like much from the outside and the surrounding businesses on that part of the strip but absolutely worth a stop in. Make sure you go to the correct restaurant as there is a smoothie & Dim sum restaurant next door. When you step inside you feel like you get away from the strip. It is a nice transition it has a classic Chinese restaurant/diner/sushi bar vibe. Slow but good service and delicious food. For dinner we had: - Tuna {Maguro} - ($8.50) - Fresh Pacific bluefin tuna -Crab Rangoon- ($7.75) -Shrimp with Lobster Sauce - ($22) -Chuen Chiu Chicken ($19) - Sliced chicken breast with fresh chili -and some Diet Coke in cans ($2.50) each I really enjoyed my Crab Rangoon and it was my first time having the Chuen Chiu Chicken. I had it served with white rice and loved the way the chicken was prepared in the chili sauce. I ate every bite. This was a great find and walked by countless times during the trip. But my complaint with the waitress who wasn't happy with the tip I left kept pointing to the suggested gratuity on the receipt trying to force me to leave more than I already did for a 35$ bill. I told her I do not have to leave a 21% tip if I do not want to she walked off a bit rudely thereafter. I did not like that and that alone I will not be back when I visit the island. Stopped by for dinner after a day at the beach. The street we were on has quite a few Chinese/Japanese fusion places. The staff were kind and attentive and spoke Chinese to my friend and me right off the bat, which I liked. Some of the menu items are a bit expensive -- their specialty sushi rolls are all $15+. Our stir fried baby bok choy ended up being $21. However, everything was good and the service was quite fast. Would highly recommend if you're craving Asian food! read more

Passed by while walking on Ashford Ave mid day. There are 2 adjacent buildings, one with outdoor seating. The food is actually cooked in the second building (the one on the right as you look at the buildings. We only had shrimp dumplings (steamed) and shrimp with chive (fried). They don't have vegetable dumplings on the menu. The food was good. The two women working there were friendly. The only other dumpling spot we know of isn't open for lunch so we were happy to find this spot. read more

My son and I ate here our 2nd night in Puerto Rico. We were disappointed our first day going to Ruben's Cafe so our hopes weren't too high. We stumbled upon this place while walking to find something good to eat around our hotel. So glad we found it! It was busy but the wait wasn't long. Our vaccination cards were checked at the door and we were seated. Our waitress was really nice and they have a variety of selections. Everything we had was really good, thank God! The shrimp friend rice, spicy roll and shrimp egg foo young were our favs. I'm a huge fan of the gravy that accompanies the shrimp egg foo young and this one was yummy. Sometimes it can come too watery but this was perfect! The food was fresh, waitress was pleasant and the guests were chill. Our experience here was a good one and the prices were decent. Group two of us spend $158 (with tips) for sashimi combo, mapo tofu, stir fried veggies, fired noodles with beef, and clams. We decided to order everything family style because certain plates such as their house special fried rice and chicken broccoli were large portions. We also got the wings, crab Rangoon, pork dumplings, and Mei fun Singapore style. I loved the pork dumplings, so much that I didn't get a picture because they were finished so fast lol. The rice was lacking salt. The crab Rangoon was just okay, same for the chicken and broccoli. The wings were good and fried hard, which I liked. But overall, the food was nothing special. We ate here four times during our trip. I will say that the service is abrupt and lacking. However, the prices are reasonable and the food is excellent! Best Chinese food I have had in a while. We went there because they have a lot of vegetarian options. We had vegetarian sushi, lo mein, ho fun, mei fun, eggplant hot pot (twice), vegetable fried rice, and ma po tofu. I loved the eggplant, soft silky and very flavorful. It's nicely air conditioned, a good break from the heat in San Juan. They have two restaurants side by side but I would go to the bigger one on the right. A little oily like all cooked eggplants cantonese style. There is only one place I've been that have eggplants with mincemeat that was NOT oily at all. It was at a Michelin Star place in HK. 4. Absolutely did not want to eat fusion cuisine but I assumed I could find Chinese only fare. Waiter insisted on speaking to me in fractured English even though I was addressing him in Spanish. Ordered egg drop soup and tofu with brown sauce. He had a difficult time understanding 'tea, black, hot.' I said it in English and Spanish. The tea came with toasted twigs in it. I had to remove the steeping basket because black tea has limits on how long it should sit in the water. The food was adequate. When the bill came i paid by credit card and skipped the tip. Before giving me the receipt the waiter asked if the food was ok. I told him that it was. He asked why I skipped the tip. I told him in Spanish that I leave the tip in cash. Again he pretended he didn't understand what i was saying. I said very slowly, "I leave paper money on table." I left him a 7% tip. read more
