We dropped in for lunch on a Wednesday. They happened to be out of the two dishes we wanted so we pivoted and got the salt and pepper tofu and pan fried vegetables. They were both well prepared. The tofu had a very crispy outside and the pan fried veggies were served in a clear soup. We shared our meals for a great entree. The service was a bit touch and go. Came in on Tuesday night to grab a late dinner with my daughter. I asked to use the restroom and the waitress looked me up and down and pointed in the direction of the restroom. When I came out, she pointed to our table that was outside as we requested. The waitress did not say anything rude to us directly, but she was not polite at all. She went straight to the point, and asked us what we wanted to drink and eat. Didn't take the time to welcome us, ask if we needed any recommendations or anything. I asked for some time to look at the menu and she walked away, and came back 2 minutes later. At this point I realized that even if the food was going to be decent, the bad service was not worth staying. I asked her to bring me the check for our drinks and let her know I would not be staying. No questions asked, she walked inside and began to ring up my daughter's drink. I walked inside so the waitress did not have to come back outside, and let her know I would be paying with card. I then asked her if she was having a bad night or if the service was always like it was tonight. She looked shocked for half a second, and then said that she had not been rude to us at all. I let her know she might have not been rude by her definition, but she was not friendly at all. And when I'm on vacation, I don't want to be treated the way she was treating us. She then said that my opinion was just that, and that she didn't feel like she was rude. No accountability whatsoever. I have the upmost respect for anyone who works in service industry, and always try to be understanding with all service providers, but I absolutely refuse to spend my money anywhere where I feel like im uncomfortable or unwelcome. read more

I usually do not give negative reviews to restaurants, this place is completely a ripe off in terms of the value of the food. We ordered 4 dishes, the Ramen tastes not as good as instant noodles, we got charged $32 for a plate of friend vegetables and $35 for a relatively low quality of sushi which is not as good as the supermarket food. I have dined in and done carry out at Kosan. The general tsos chicken is so good, the best that at least I can remember eating. Even as take out it still stayed fresh and warm. Had tons of fried sushi options or ones with chicken instead of fish. Not a lot of specialty rolls that are not fried. We tried two of their rolls. All of the ingredients in these sushi rolls were very fresh and tasty. It is very obvious that Kosan makes their food fresh for each order. Be prepared for the food to come out piping hot. My friend burnt her tongue on the miso soup since it was freshly made and still very hot. I could not give them five stars since when I dined in they did not give us a dish for our soy sauce or an chopsticks until I had to ask. This was after we already got our food. The staff here were not particularly friendly. Average wait time for our food. Note: Even if there is a hurricane/tropical storm this place will stay open. read more

I have been going out to dine at restaurants as an adult for the past 40 years and never have I had as bad an experience as I had at Kosan last night. The restaurant was busy for the New Year's holiday, but my family and I were sat at a table and had to wait 2 hours to be served our dinner. And we were all given dinner at separate times, with each person's dish coming out about 5-7 minutes after each other's. I spoke to about 10 different people at the restaurant, who apologized because they were busy, but that didn't make up for the fact that 8 other tables were sat and had their dinners, during the same time that it took for my family to finally get ours. Not sure if it was the color of our skin or what, but this was THE worst service I have had in 40 years of dinning out. read more

It was 11 PM Saturday night and we were looking for a late night place to eat, when lo and behold, Kosan was open. On Fridays and Saturdays they are open till 2 AM. Woo hoo! The rest of the week they're open till 12 AM which is still very reasonable. We were staying at the La Concha Renaissance hotel and it was only a three minute walk from there. I can't comment on the interior of the restaurant because we didn't go in. It was a breezy night and we could hear the live music wafting in from the other restaurant across the street commingled with the music that they were playing at this restaurant and the hanging Twinkie lights surrounding the patio were so pretty that we opted to eat outside on the front patio. The calliope of music, lights and breezes made for a really nice ambience. I did however, notice another couple go in and come back out, remarking that it was cold inside. So you might want to bring your jacket if you're going to dine inside. I didn't catch our friendly servers name, but I appreciated her honesty and really liked her because she knew the menu well and suggested things that she thought I would like and told me there were some items that she didn't think I would be happy with. The menu was Quite Extensive and it's mostly Chinese and Japanese but they do also have Vietnamese spring rolls, Hawaiian fried rice, Singapore style noodles with curry and two types of steaks, one being ribeye. Their drink menu is pretty large as well. They have a variety of juices, Coke products, hot and cold teas. They have a full selection of cocktails and wines. As for beers there are Japanese, American, Mexican and Puerto Rican. They actually have desserts, six of them. I won't go into what types, but I did take a picture of the dessert menu. I started with a refreshing, homemade lemonade. It was actually very good. There are no refills on that drink. I'm not sure if they give refills on fountain drinks. We ordered: - Philadelphia roll- eight pieces of very fresh fish with a decent size piece of avocado and cream cheese. Yummy! - Salt and Pepper fried fish- crispy flat slices of well seasoned, deep fried fish, coated with what seemed to be a cornstarch batter and served on a bed of fresh crispy lettuce with caramelized fried onions and hot peppers. We were trying to scoop up the caramelized onion crumbs and realized that the lettuce tasted delicious as it had the flavored oil from the sautéed red peppers and onions. It also came with a little bowl of yummy hot chili paste. (my mouth is watering remembering how just good it all was) -Sweet and Sour chicken, it was decent size portion. It was tasty. - Fried rice- both dishes came with an option of steamed or fried rice. We chose fried rice for two extra dollars. It had bits of egg in there and was actually pretty tasty. I wish we had more people with us so we could've ordered more things. The presentation of their food was really gorgeous like some fancy high end Japanese restaurant. I know this this because I was seeing other orders going by, mostly rolls, and they looked mouthwateringly (is that a word ?) amazing. I almost wanted to ask the other diners if I could take pictures of their food. Everything that we tried was delicious, the service was great and the ambience was really fun. Honestly, I think we might go back again tonight as there are so many different types of food on the menu it's like eating at a different restaurant each time lol. I really enjoyed the ambience of the outdoor patio and I think it would be a great place to take someone. You gotta try this place, I promise you won't be disappointed! read more

The staff is very nice (lingers a bit) but brings out your order quickly and ensures you are taken care of. The table we sat at was sticky and not cleaned properly before we were sat. Death by Water The Asian Sever insisted we buy water bottles since they ONLY serve unfiltered water,lol. If that is the case, everyone... stay away from the bar since everything that comes out of there is unfiltered. Unless, they buy hundreds of lb of ice everyday stay away from anything they serve that has ice. Oh, remember to check the menu for anything that hasn't been boiled for a minimum of 5 minutes, or it can get you sick. I suppose this place can choose between being liars or grossly unsanitary! My friends and I visited Kosan since we were in Condado and left the place happier than ever. I would say they have a variety of things on the menu. Me and my sister got the volcano roll, the sushi & sashimi dinner deluxe and chicken stir-fry udon noodles with iced green tea to drink. I LOVED every single bite especially the volcano sushi and sashimi because you can tell that it was made with fresh ingredients. On top of that, our servers were quick with our needs and very friendly (they taught us a little Chinese lol). The indoor seating with AC was a plus. I will definitely come back to Kosan! read more

I had to come on here and give this place a great review. First, when I'm outside of the US, I really rely on Yelpers' reviews to determine where the good places in the area are, so having only seen 1 review for this place, I felt compelled as an active member of the Yelp community to write a review (although I haven't in years) for this place in order for folks to know about it. In other words, the food/service here is worth it! Their sushi is really good! It is clear that all the food used in making them is fresh. Each of the rolls I had were super tasty (the Kawaii, the Clown, the Churrasco and the Yummy). Was just happy to find this place bc I found it's pretty hard to find impressive food in this area. Most importantly, the staff was super nice and attentive--they're people who sincerely care whether you enjoy their food. Gotta love that type of service. All to say: GO WITH THIS PLACE! read more
