New to you, is a consignment shop (vs. Thrift) with a select inventory of clothing; color-coded by type vs size; except for shoes; I stop here on occasion, never intentionally as I'm guided by the spirit of Helen Roper; the staff is friendly and available for questions; they're always getting new items so they start busy. "N2U" is great for shoes, bags, household items, and decorative items. They have some blue & white, lamps, bead spreads, kitchen gadgets, and more. I admittedly haven't consigned here, but they seem to have a good following... You pay a start fee of $5-6 dollars to open an acct for the yr; they "typically" price the item; store- a 60/40 consignee -split; 30 day contract, you have the option to pick-up, if it doesn't sell, or they donate. Prices seem competitive with other consignment stores; which is notably higher than you would pay vs thrift. Concluding: Nice pieces to be had here; and with a browse; as I remind myself to stop here more often then not. As always timing and thoughtful pulling is everything. My mom and I came here for the first time in late October. The parking lot was pretty full since the store is located in a strip mall among other businesses. There is a sign on the door saying you're not allow to use your cellphone in the store, which I found to be a bit odd. The first thing I noticed when we walked in was a musty smell. It quickly subsided, but it was there when we walked in. There are racks and racks of clothing when you first enter. I didn't look at the clothes, so I can't comment as to their quality or how they display their clothing items (by size, color, etc.) There were two young girls behind the main counter tagging items. We weren't greeted, even when they saw us walked towards the counter, but they were friendly when I asked if they had a specific item. The layout of the left side of the store reminds me of how Goodwill has their items set up. They're on shelves and in no specific order. You really have to dig to find something because there's a lot of items shoved on the shelves. Or at least, that's how the Christmas shelves were. They offer clothing, jewelry, handbags, knick-knacks, household items, seasonal items (two full aisles of Christmas goodies), hats, perfumes, and more. I found a cute Hallmark ornament in perfect condition with the box for $1.59 including tax. Just about everything I looked out was reasonably priced for the most part. There were a few things I picked up that were priced a little too high for my liking. I'm not sure if they're willing to barter or not. I'm not sure if they're like other consignment shops where different colored tags are a certain percentage off. Again, no one greeted us or asked us if it were our first time there, so we didn't know their pricing structure. My advice is to take your time to look at what they have to offer. It's a two-unit thrift store in a strip mall. The location is good and the service seems friendly. I shopped around a bit but as other reviews noted, it was kind of spread out and not that organized. They have a lot of lamps and mirrors, plus elephant stuff. I guess someone who likes elephants is selling a lot of their things. I've found some gems in this store like fragrances that are popular yet discontinued and even designer shoes. But the price and the disorganization make it tough to visit. I visit this store when I'm in the mood which isn't often. The prices are too high in my option for household Knick knacks that I could get elsewhere for much less. Also the store is overcrowded. The gems are hidden by the clutter. If the prices were better maybe I could overlook the clutter and disorganization...but I can't give both. I was surprised to find a consignment spot tucked in this center! I will say, they have quite a few higher end brands which was a nice surprise. I think the pricing is a tad high (I saw a Lilly dress for $50-$80, Columbia jacket for $40, coach sandals for $45) BUT I left with multiple shirts ranging from $8-$15. I got a brand-name hoodie for only 2.50 and that wasn't a huge steal, either; there were tons of items marked around that price. They also have some pretty high-end stuff. It's a nice alternative to enduring the mall if you're looking for a cute weekend outfit, and it will certainly be cheaper. New To You felt like an enormous thrift store where someone had magically selected one fabulous item for every ten items. You can have the thrift store experience without sifting through hot pink overalls if you know what I'm sayin. I haven't tried giving my old stuff to them yet, but it is a service they offer. Honestly, I was torn between 3 and 4 stars. I let my heart decide, because had money not been an issue, I would have fallen completely in love. To be fair, I do love this store and will be making it one of my places for when I need something unique and stylish to wear, in a pinch. The problem is, it's categorized (by both my cars GPS and Yelp) as a Thrift Store; so money is issue, on principle. One does not go into a thrift store intending to spend $150 and I could easily see myself doing this here - on less than 5 outfits. Granted, said outfits would have cost me in the upper $500's at retail. Really. One of the reasons they are so expensive (for a thrift store) is that they're also a consignment store, which means they're actually selling these items for other people, like a physical form of Ebay or Craigslist. Their inventory is fantastic. Several dresses and shirts still had their original price tags. Almost all were in perfect condition; not a stain or snag in the fabric. Some of the shoes looked like they'd never been worn. I actually found this adorable pink renaissance/tunic style dress that looked like it had never been worn, not even once, for $20. I love renaissance clothing, and this was this fabulously unique Ye Olde Taylor Shope little thing, in cute, modern cocktail dress form. I would have felt like a trend-setter in that dress. Had I not been on Thrift Shop budget I'd have happily made a b-line for check out right then and there. If it's still there when I get paid, it's mine. Mine! Seriously... get your hands off my dress! I wish I could have taken a picture, but the use of cellphones is strictly forbidden inside the store. They have a sign asking you to turn your cell off. (Um, no. Even my college professors couldn't legally ask me to do that - as I am the emergency contact for a small child. I'll be happy to abstain from actually answering it in the store though.) The quality of the clothing here is very "gently used designer" - only without the designer brands. I think I found one or two, but I'm no expert and I was basing that assumption on the engraved brand name on the bottom of a $28 pair of heels. The average price of a pair of shoes is $15 - $35 Dresses go from $15 - $45 unless they're on sale, in which case the cheapest one I found was $9.50. There is a "Final Sale" rack (although all sales are final) where I found a typical, pink-nylon Ross dress for $3.50 and a stained size 4 prom gown with no price tag. It was cute, but looked like the kind of fabric where trying to get those stains out would melt it. If you can think of New To You as a very special breed of Thrift Shop, then it really is worth all four stars. They have clothing for men and women, although women's is predominant, and in the side room are some very interesting dishes and household items including some furniture. The manager followed my daughter out to the street and ran to the car and asked her where a fake $20 Louis Vuitton that she was looking at was located because somebody else wanted to buy it. Why? I went in to see the manager. Who would believe that it was The manager that ran to the car and chased my daughter down about the fake Purse. When I confronted the manager and asked her if she chased everyone to the parking lot to ask for items that they been looking for because somebody else wanted to purchase it? she stated yes if I want to know where it is. I then told her the seemed sort of racist. her first response is always the same one that most racist say... I'm not racist you have the problem. Next do you think she was even apologetic or said to my daughter I'm sorry I didn't see where you put it ??? nope. You might find some good things here. the prices are OK. the service and the management questionable. The owner is really nice she reconsigns me because I shop so much, she always acknowledges me every time. I do consign I get a good price for everything I have brought in. This shop is not as picky as all the others in the area for having to be designer items. I do not want to buy designer items I looking to have different knick knacks to decorate my house. I have been shopping at New To You for years and I love this place! Yes you have to sift through to find your size but it is so worth it with the low prices. Sometimes I find a few items and sometimes (like yesterday) I leave with two shopping bags of wonderful, next to new clothing at a terrific price. I took pictures of a few things yesterday to see if my daughter wanted them and no one ever aid anything to me. I was at the front counter when I did it. It is not a huge store so if I were going to talk on the phone I would leave the store out of common courtesy. I live an hour and a half away and make a special trip there a few times a year.The staff are always so friendly and helpful and I appreciate they are following COVID protocols and requiring masks. My family has been going to New to You for the last 3 to 4 years and had enjoyed it very much. On Jan 8,2019 my mother & sister took in a few things in, which included swarvoski crystal Bracelets that my mother had made. Her first time ever to take things in to a consignment store.What a shady business & nightmare!! It was probably a week later when I went in to New to You to see what they had priced the bracelets for. The lady behind the counter said that the owner had taken them home to price ( they were priced $20 ea) I thought that was strange but ok. Went in the following week & didn't see them so I asked the clerk.There was a lot of jewelry in the case but after moving several bracelets we found 2 of them. I expressed concern that no one would be able to see them so the clerk moved them to the first shelf. On March 3rd the nightmare began! It was Sunday & the store didn't open until a little after 12pm. We got there early and waited in the car until the store opened. Upon entering mom & I decided to look around before checking on her bracelets. Before doing so we went up to the window where you find out if you sold anything and if so they give you the cash for what you sold. Mom got cash for $9. We went back to the cases where the jewelry was kept. My mother and I looked & looked & never saw the bracelets so we asked the clerk behind One of the cases and told her what we were looking for But could not find them. The lady told us that if they were not in the case they were probably put in a grab or sent to charity. I said grab bag?! charity?! The lady said "yes that's what we do when things don't sell after 60 days". I asked where was that in the contract & she said it's not and directed me to the owner, MADELANE POWERS. Ms Powers became rather offended especially when I said it has not been 60 days & she said "well almost". To the point MADELANE POWERS CALLED THE POLICE BC I was "irrate". This consignment shop has a nice selection of women's clothing, shoes and home goods. In my view a few notches above goodwill but not quite trendy upscale. Prices are reasonable, especially on items that have reached the automatic 30% off or whatever based on date. In contrast to other posters, I don't think that they do anything unscrupulous with nicer items that don't sell in so many days. They have a clearance rack near the registers containing drastically marked down items that have been there for a while (I suspect right before they move on to goodwill). On more than one occasion I've purchased new, with-tags-on brand names for a few bucks. This is also a great shop to pick up extra little items for home decorating. Like most, if not all, consignment shops the selection constantly changes. Most of the time they seem to set pricing fairly although occasionally some items (such as costume jewelry) seem a tad overpriced for consignment. I've gone a few times and found nothing that piqued my interest while other times I've found multiple great deals. That to me is part of the adventure of second-hand shopping! Clothing is organized by color which personally I prefer in a second-hand store. It might be nice if they further sorted by size within those classifications. Roughly half of the store is devoted to clothing & shoes, the other half to miscellaneous household items (kitchen gadgets, furnishings, etc.) Hours are somewhat limited and the layout does feel a bit crowded. Staff are helpful enough to ring up purchases though they don't seem to go out of their way to otherwise assist customers. All in all, though, this is a tried and true consignment shop that has been around for many years and hopefully will stick around for years to come. read more

This is a great consignment store for women of all ages. They have a good selection of quality, fashionable clothing, including fabulous things for younger women and teens. There's also a decent supply of kitchen stuff, knickknacks, and even some furniture. This is my favorite consignment store in the DC-MD area. My only hesitation with the place is that the prices are a little high, but generally the quality is also high, so it's usually worth it. I've also consigned a few items, but the consignment policy is not that great - you have to pay a fee, and you only get 40%. Also, they don't give you a list of what they took, although they do give you the tags of the things that sold. You don't even know how much they are charging for your stuff, since they price it all. So I'd recommend doing your shopping here and your consigning somewhere else. (I'm still looking for the somewhere else, suggestions welcome!) read more

The best thrift store in the area with an excellent selection of high quality consignment. The shoes all look brand new and you can tell the folks running the place have good taste. Also a great find for perfumes, jewelry and housewares. Definitely worth the price. Instead of organizing racks by size, clothing was organized by color and type. I shop in this store all the time, at least twice monthly. They are very strong for fashionable clothing, although the offerings cater to thinner women. Shoes are strong and they are a great place for decorative accents for the house - knickknacks for your bookcase, candlesticks, etc. On occasion I've run into a piece that was priced identically to what the piece cost new when it was offered by Target, but mostly the pieces are fairly priced. And don't forget to check out the jewelry selection - lots of pieces and good prices. I was visiting a friend in the area and love finding new Consignments Shops. We had a fun time snapping up some great clothing values and I also found five pieces of art at great prices. One, which was a series of 3 photographs on canvas, was pricey, but she said it was because it had just arrived at the shop. Still, other items/prices made up for it. I agree that clothes by color is not the most efficient way to display, but we still found some great items relatively easily. A few more large items and fewer smalls, would also make it more interesting and probably bump it to five stars for me. read more

I've recently lost over 70 lbs and have enjoyed replacing my wardrobe. However, as everyone knows, that can be very expensive. So, being new to the area I google searched for the BEST woman's consignment shop in and around the Annapolis area. Up came "New To You". I made the 35 minute drive from North Beach. I walked into the store and almost turned back around but figured I'd made the drive I would give it a chance. Who arranges clothes by color, rather than size? What a ridiculous system. Plus the clothes were so jammed together that even if you wanted to look at something, you couldn't get to it. The store was dirty, cramped and all over disgusting. If I can save even one person the trip to this awful store, then writing this review will be worth it. read more

I've bought clothes as well as trinkets and household items. I really miss being able to stop by there any time I wanted. This store has been around for a long time and you'll find a good selection of brand names, high fashion items, shoes, costume jewelry and household goods. They usually have a few pieces of furniture and one side of the store is now devoted to household items such as dishes, books, decorative items, etc. Since Annapolis is an expensive area to live in, the donations usually match the area. Like any store of this type, you'll need to come back often to see everything. Expect to spend some time looking since the clothing side is always packed with items for sale. Great for shopping and digging for finds if you're in the mood for searching. It's not very organized, but they have lots of inventory and some great buys.Prices are generally very inexpensive. As for consigning, don't! They sell the items too cheap to make it worthwhile, but more so, their consignor operation is not accountable.They don't track your items or even record them to know whether they are still in the shop.
