I've been in the Arden area for a few months and been looking forward to stopping by this place for a few weeks. It did not disappoint. The shop is charming, with an assortment of prepared meal options, meat counter with freshly prepared sandwiches, and a modest selection of reasonably priced wines. I ordered a custom turkey sandwich and picked up a container of the prepared chicken salad -- both were delicious. They advertise their sandwiches as big, and they lived up the name. They were not stingy with the meat. The chicken salad was flavorful, and enough for lunch the next couple of days. This place will be a regular stop for lunch or a prepped meal. read more

Be aware of a few things before you go and then want to give them 1-star because they did not live up to your fragile expectations. 1) the sandwich stations has pretty tight hours and may close early if traffic is slow and 2-these are not Subway sandwiches and 3-this is not the cheap meat you can get at Ingles or Aldi. If you have never shopped Prime cuts, this is what it costs. My wife and I went in here last weekend and ordered two huge sandwiches...which come with chips made by a North Carolina company. We each had half of our sandwiches and then the other half for Sunday's lunch. Both were stacked with meat and fixins. All three of the guys behind the counter were super friendly and clearly enjoyed talking about their work. The meat is not cheap, but these are quality cuts. If you have issues paying what they ask for a Prime ribeye, check the price for that cut at your local corporate steak house. My wife and I do not do steak, but maybe once a year. When we do, I'll usually find a butchery like this to treat us. Clearly, there are plenty of others who understand this quality metric, because they do sell those Wagyu steaks. i do look forward to trying their ground in-house chuck. Nice knowing that the ground has come from fewer than 1000 different cattle. I do wish they had more house made sausage, but I understand they have a small kitchen. Stopped in after seeing the sign previously. Gorgeous display of very good looking cuts of meat and other products. I had the "make your own" sandwich with just pastrami and provolone. EXCELLENT pastrami and super nice roll, just like you'd expect in Brooklyn. It was so good, I'm going back today! The young man behind the counter stated that the sandwich station was already closed. I mentioned the website states that the sandwich station is open daily until 6pm. He replied that it closes early on Sundays... Well that's not what the websites reads. Does not take much time at all to update the site. A bag of chips comes with it. Plus they have family size frozen take out, great wine, and all kinds of other goodies. Get some meat and one of Karen's Spice Kitchen packets to make curry. This may be a good butcher shop but I'm not going to pay 21.00 a pound for meat when they have difficulty executing a good sandwich. We had 4 different sandwich's all of them had the worst bread, and this seems to be consistent, the bread on every sandwich we have had there is pretty bad. The meat is not freshly sliced and they will not put any condiments on unless you request them. Wouldn't recommend the sides or sandwich's here. read more

We have been waiting for this place to open for a while since seeing what it was going to be. We were pretty excited when we drove by and it was finally open. What a delightful place to add to the area! It was not exactly what we were expecting, not in a bad way, we just hoped in addition to the fresh and frozen meats and other gourmet items that we would have access to charcuterie closer to us now! If you are looking for that, they don't have it. They do have a couple of salamis but not an extensive list of charcuterie. We were very happy to see the huge selection of meats and very surprised of all of the frozen items! I am kind of a snob about buying pre-made items since I am extensively trained in the kitchen and make dinner from scratch almost every night. But! I am actually interested in trying some of their prepared pastas and such to save me some times when I just don't feel like spending so much time in the kitchen at home every once in a while. The staff was super friendly and we were happy they had some local items. Maybe they will also bring Lusty Monk in to sell since it would be a perfect fit! Best butcher ever! The sandwiches are made to order and I am obsessed with finding a good sandwich shop wherever I live (and I am picky!) but these were so good and fresh. They have a ton of meat options that you can cook at home and ready to eat dinners that you just throw in the oven. We recently moved here and we will definitely be here frequently. read more

So far so good. Today is opening day of New York Butcher Shoppe. From the outside looking in you see a wall of wines. If you're a wine drinker come check this place out. They also have a really nice selection of butcher shop options. A lot of seafood to choose from! Great marbling on the streaks. Cut at a consistent thickness. It kind of feels like a corner grocery to pick up something for dinner more than a butcher shop. I'm anxious to know if they butcher whole animal or if they just break down pieces of meat. The staff is really friendly. They use your name which I feel is a lost art of customer service. The sandwich I ordered, Verrazano, was made very well. The bread held up really well to the rest of the sandwich. They're interested in being added to Doordash so sandwich delivery may become an option. I hope they spend some money on advertising. It in the back of the strip mall. I took lots of pictures and I still didnt get everything they have to offer. Definitely come and check out this new shop. It's closer than Charlotte St. and they have later hours. I would recommend this place. read more

This was our second visit to the Butcher shoppe as we were passing back thru the Asheville area. Our first experience was unexpected as we were just passing thru during Covid times when no one will let you inside their building. I saw they were open and asked them gentlemen inside if I could please use their restroom as we are just traveling thru. His kindness is what drew me into looking at their offerings. I told my husband we had found his Heaven on Earth! Fresh cut steaks, and tuna vacuum sealed, sausage different ways, side dishes frozen or prepared, family meals ready to heat in the oven and best of all FRESH SLICED DELI MEAT AND CHEESE. Thank goodness we chose to split a sandwich as they pile on the meat! Fresh baked bread and you can pick your own condiments and toppings!
