We tried both the the "Classic" grilled cheese- with mozzarella and Havarti cheese (per their suggestion)- and the "Firebird" grilled cheese (their #1 selling grilled cheese)- with cheddar, turkey, bacon, tomato, jalapeños, and chipotle mayo. Both were 10/10. The country white bread was buttered and perfectly toasted, crunched on every single bite and not soggy from any of the ingredients, and all the cheeses were soooo ooey gooey, melted and hot, and had big flavors. Yum, Yum, Yummmmmmm! Melt Your Heart is definitely a go-to food truck for my husband and I. If you can't figure this out by their name, this is a grilled cheese food truck. But not just an old white bread and American cheese grilled cheese, no sir, this is the place you go to get a complex grilled cheese with a bunch of different menu items to choose from or you can create your own. Two of my favorite are The Love Boat and The Heart Attack. The Love Boat is a tuna melt with meunster cheese, tomato and pickles. So delicious! The Heart Attack consists of pimento cheese, tomatoes and bacon. Although I no longer eat meat, my mouth still waters just thinking about it, haha. All of their sandwiches are served on crunchy bread (french bread perhaps) and can be served with a side of their Asian or chipotle slaw. I prefer the chipotle slaw in a creamy, slightly spicy sauce. It's really delicious! Their serving sizes are huge too! My husband and I sometimes order one sandwich and slaw and share it. Otherwise, be prepared to bring some leftovers home! Absolutely do NOT support this small business. Why? 1. Promised a 40 minute wait time - Seems quit ridiculous for 2 slices of bread with cheese in between but okay let's see what all the hype is about 2. At the 1.5 hour mark when the brewery is closed and the food still has yet to be provided it's time to provide some basic customer service and let us cancel that order and go else where. - Broken promise - still another 20 minutes or more for a basic grilled cheese in the dark with a brewery that will be closed for over an hour.... Hmmm y'all pass why you can. Not only that when I say calm and cool requesting a basic refund the guy flips and says NO! It's pretty pathetic in times like these that 1) they can't tell ticket times accurately and 2) when a polite request to cancel/refund is treated like treason. You'd better stand out. And the talented folks at Melt Your Heart do just that. The bread is locally sourced - organic French bread from West End Bakery - and I'm telling you, it is flat-out perfect for a grilled cheese sandwich. Excellent texture/crumb, and just thick enough so you get that fresh, buttery flavor and perfect, deeply satisfying crunch. For my sandwich I chose cheddar and smoked gouda, and went with the "Add the Love" option which provided tomato, grilled onion, and a house condiment (chipotle mayo). People, this grilled cheese ROCKED. The cheeses were high quality and packed rich, salty, complex flavors which were complimented perfectly by the tomato and onion; then the chipotle mayo threw in another layer of deliciousness, and KABOOM - it was just pure ecstasy. The chipotle slaw was on point - cool, crispy, and refreshing. Honestly, it's probably worth a return trip in its own right. And as a final touch they threw in a big complimentary Tootsie Roll. They have a menu of wide-ranging grilled cheeses. We only sampled two, but the selection with pimento cheese was excellent and the spicy firebird certainly lived up to its name. Many of the cheeses feature meats (turkey, bacon), but the truck also has veggie offerings (the Brie, walnut, apple was tempting). The traditional slaw is a good, southern Mayo-based side. Heart Breaker: turkey, Brie and raspberry mustard. Very tasty. Both come with a slaw. Asian or chipotle. I love the chipotle the best. My only complaint is when you pay with a card there is not option for a custom tip. They only have percent options. As much as I love Melt Your Heart as a food truck, I'm dying to one day have it as a stand alone spot where I can have it as my lunch and dinner every day (just kidding because wow, that's a lot of cheese). MYH not only has amazing grilled cheeses, slaw, beverages and add-ons, but they are really great about keeping us informed on where they will be located. There is never any guessing with them! I most often catch them at the Brew Pump on Thursdays, and man, is there anything more perfect on this earth then sitting outside at Brew Pump and enjoying my MYH fix? I really don't think so. On to the food, there is really something for everyone's price point here. I almost always go plain Jane and order "The Classic" which is just cheddar on amazing, thick West End Bakery bread. Such a bargain, because this usually runs me under $5 and you get a choice of chipotle or Asian slaw (I always go the way of the Asian, sorry chipotle). This is the most flavorful slaw with a ginger-garlic dressing and I love using my sammy to mop up the leftover dressing from the dish. They have a wide aray of "specialty melts" to choose from with different jazz on them. I'm just partial to the classic. By struck of luck one night I got their rosemary lemonade because they were closing and there was a tiny bit left. It was really good and would be a great mixer if they could do that kind of thing. Last night, between the 5th and 6th brewery, we decided that we should eat something, and Melt Your Heart was right outside Green Man in the parking lot, so that decision was easy. Two of us split the Firebird with Asian slaw. When he handed me the sandwich, it felt like about 3 lbs. of food. I knew it was going to be good, and I was right. Back in the day, there was only a few food trucks in our fair city; Melt Your Heart was an early mover and used to frequent the old food truck lot with El Kimchi and the rest of the old school trucks. It caught my eye with that wood siding, so I gave it a go - and go back whenever I see them around. I'm a coleslaw fan and both their chipotle and Asian slaws were tasty. As far as the sandwiches - I'm a creature of habit at Melt Your Heart and usually get the Firebird. It's got turkey and tomatoes, and some really delicious, high-quality cheese. The crust is perfectly crispy and the cheese perfectly soft. An old favorite that has outlasted a lot of the competition in Asheville. read more
