I love supporting family owned businesses and New York Floral is a great local florist. Hilton and Lynette are a husband and wife team that make "the special" happen. They are located in the 5th Ave Shoppes on Federal Hwy and 20th Street. They came highly recommended by a local Boca Raton hotel. When I called them and found out where they are located, I was surprised. For about seven years I have worked right down the street and I never even knew they were right there in the Publix plaza. Seriously, I need to get out of my office more. I only used NYFD one time and I plan on using them again for both personal and business purposes. Hilton was fun and easy to talk with and we customized a fruit and cheese basket together. I was able to tell how passionate he is about creating the perfect gift and I loved hearing the enthusiasm in his voice as he described what fruits and goodies he would put in the gift basket. In true Britt fashion, my OCD kicked in and I may or may not have called him "just a few times" to confirm. But life is really good at throwing us surprises because my delivery address had to be changed the day of delivery at the last minute. While I was frantic, Hilton remained calm and told me not to worry. He was right and I panicked over nothing. My friends received their gift later that day and all was good. If you are having a gift sent to friends who are staying at a hotel, it's a good idea to inform the hotel a gift will be arriving for such guests. Luckily the hotel called me to let me know my friends changed their plans and I had time to call Hilton with the change of delivery address. Hilton was genuinely very nice throughout my 20 questions (some may or may not have been repetitive) and my friends received the gift basket once they got home. It all worked out. I'm really happy knowing that I have a reputable florist near my office. I'm even happier that they are an independently owned business. read more

It came down to the wire as the wedding date was drawing closer and I didn't have basic things done yet - like find a wedding florist!! In a panic I searched all over Google for Florists in Boca Raton. There is an overwhelming selection of florists online in the area. I called multiple and either didn't get an answer or no one could provide flowers for my wedding date. It was exactly ONE WEEK away from the wedding date and I still didn't have anyone booked for flowers. I resorted to driving around and stopping from shop to shop asking people. I stumbled upon NY Floral in a conveniently located plaza with plenty of parking (so many other places have parallel parking on the street which prevented me from even bothering with them). They helped pick out the perfect design for the Chuppah and the tables. All the arrangements for the design were made quickly and with ease. They had everything ready on time and it was beautiful. I purchased an arrangement for $100 a week ago to be delivered today and I received nothing like the product I purchased, promising snap dragons and beautiful orange roses. In fact, it's was hideous kale leaves and pink Lily's which were sitting in moldy water... not at all close to what was ordered or expected. Obviously I was very upset, as these flowers were for a special occasion and when I spoke to the owner, they were so unprofessional, rude ("nasty" is the better word) that it became clear to me immediately that the owner was incapable of coming up with an appropriate solution, especially when she said "they're just flowers! There are worse things to be upset about, like cancer". This comment took me aback, who talks like that? And even worse, to a RETURNING customer! All that said, it's simple - I ordered a specific flower arrangement from your website, it is your responsibility (as a business) to deliver what I bought or to at least contact me to let me know what is and isn't available/in stock. Otherwise that is product misrepresentation and I do not support businesses who rip off their customers. Shame on you for doing so. I expect a full refund for the flowers my family had to HAND DELIVER back to you today. read more

You decide if this is the type of business you want to give your money to. It was for my mother's funeral in May 2011 that the chapel recommended New York Floral Design. We asked for 3 dozen roses of a certain color. Rather than tell us that he could not provide the color we requested, "Hilton" had them painted which had obviously bad results: they smelled poorly and died quite soon. Adding insult to injury, he tried to negotiate less than a total refund but agreed to give me one after asking me to not tell the chapel. In short, not trustworthy for any occasion you want flowers. ***** 2/6/13 ***** POST SCRIPTUM: Vendor responded to my post today (14 months after the original post). I consulted the file from my mother's funeral and can confidently refute her excuses. There were three dozen roses of which 12 of them were painted (not 6, as she proclaims) and all of them were ruined by the odor and stickiness. Mother died on Mother's Day (a son does not forget) and the order was placed the next day on 5/9/11 for the funeral on 5/11, not on the same day as the funeral. And the full refund was acquiesced to after some uncomely haggling by the vendor. read more

I had a bad experience ordering online with NY Floral Design. I ordered flowers for my mother for mother's day. I had a confirmation email with all of the details. The flowers were never delivered. In addition, I received a confirmation that they were delivered (along with a post delivery survey). I called to complain and was told that he would research and get back to me. He never did. I called again and he said it wasn't his fault, it was the online ordering service's fault. I then had to call another number to get my money back. Mistakes happen...systems glitch out...I get that. A basic apology or even a speck of accountability would be nice. Weak excuses exhaust me. read more

I'm a property manager for an uber luxury building located on the ocean in Boca Raton. We have a certain clientele. I was out running errands, and looking for a florist to make an exquisite memorial statement piece for a passing of a loved one in my building and just happened to drive past NY Floral and stopped in. I had already been to 3 other florists in the area and wasn't happy with the lack of creativity, options and also the utter lack of customer service of the people working in these other shops so I kept looking. Gerard greeted me upon entering and I loved his positive energy! I described what I was looking for and instead of handing me some cheesy book from 1982 like the others had done, he started showing me pics on his phone of concepts he can do/has done. I instantly selected one that was creative and unlike anything I had ever seen before .. all at a very reasonable rate I might add. Based on the design that went into it I would have expected the price to be double what I paid. Everything was handled professionally, and I was extremely happy with the results. Fast forward a week, The Board of Directors wanted a live orchid arrangement for our newly redesigned clubroom. Something stunning, designed, creative and unique while still fitting in our motif of elegant luxury (and budget!). I of course called Gerard at NY Floral!! He came out and brought items for us to select that we could add to the arrangement, ideas, etc. It was delivered today and myself and the Board couldn't have been more pleased. Forget pleased, we were BLOWN AWAY. It was so creative, and special and had little details and was PERFECT. It didn't look like it was run of the mill bought in a store or any florist shop. Gerard took the time and listened to exactly what we wanted and then made it 100x better. It looked exactly like a custom piece made for that spot. All at a reasonable price.
