Horrible experience from the start. We were told a bus would pick us up and take us to the boat in just a couple minutes. Unfortunately, it wasn't a couple minutes. It was an hour and a half. The bus arrived and we had to wait another 45 minutes before the bus moved. Arriving at the harbor we were told to wait out in the hot sun for another hour before boarding the boat. Some people just walked off totally disgusted. The experience was a nightmare! Don't waste your money. The staff would not answer questions. I asked to speak with the manager and was told they didn't know who the manger was; just another lie. read more

I booked this trip as part of a work gathering and the whole group (of 16!) had an amazing time. We booked the sunset time slot and although it was cloudy, it was still such a beautiful view of the city as the day turned to night. Would recommend chartering the Tireless with Captain Dave to anyone looking for a sunset cruise. Initially the weather looked like it was not going to cooperate. Let me rephrase that. We had a 5:30 launch time and it POURED. Went to walk down the block to grab a few adult beverages from Whole Foods in case the rain let up. Almost an hour went by and it didn't look like it was going to happen. On the walk back it stopped and we called Captain Dave. It was now almost 7PM and he was still at the pier and was willing to go out. The conditions turned in our favor, the skies were amazing and the Hudson River was smooth enough to skip a stone to NJ. Captain Dave gave us a great tour down the Hudson, around lower Manhattan, up the East River, under the Brooklyn, Manhattan and Williamsburg bridges and then we headed back. On the return trip we went through the Buttermilk channel, around Governors Island and in front of the Statue of Liberty while passing Ellis Island on the way back to Pier 25. Captain Dave had a great personality and was a wealth of knowledge of the surrounding areas so if your from out of town and looking to explore you will definitely benefit from his charter vs. one of the big boat tours where they pack you on like a sardine. read more

We picked the sunset private tour and from the golden hour to nightfall, the skyline lights danced around us leaving us mesmerized by all the remarkable views. We did the sunset cruise on the big boat Reliance to celebrate a 30th birthday, and we could not have had a better time. Tim and Asher were very nice and professional, and made us feel very welcome on the boat. Highly recommend! What an absolutely amazing trip we had! We knew we didn't want to go on a large tourist boat cruise so we opted to try a private charter. Best decision we ever made. From the moment we got on the boat until the time we left it was amazing. The captain was knowledgeable and friendly and made us feel right at home, not to mention he paid attention to detail and always made sure we were safe. Very kid friendly and accommodating. New York Harbor Tours is hands down the best thing to do on a trip to NYC! I live here but even still, I could do this again and again! We booked at the last minute for a sunset cruise on a perfect September Saturday. The boat was great and Captain Dave is awesome and really ensures you have a great time out on the water. He takes you under the Brooklyn Bridge up the East River for an amazing view of Midtown and then back around past the Statue of Liberty and then up the Hudson. We had a spectacular day on David's boat! We booked for my daughters birthday and the tour of the downtown loop did not disappoint! David's boat was sparkling clean and very comfortable. He is a great guide as well pointing out all of the best architecture and landmarks and gave us lots of history as well. I loved this water tour!!! It was cold, so I was the only customer on this particular tour but the owner (Captain David) took me anyway!! I stayed in the cabin most of the time, because I was cold, but the tour was still a lot of fun. David knew so much about the skyline from the harbour, the waterways of the harbour and the history of the harbour and he answered all my questions and because I had no competition from others, I got to ask everything!! The boat is small, accommodates about 6 people but it's really comfortable and fun! I will return to do this tour again, when it's warmer and will gladly do it with Captain David again!! If you are considering spending some time on the water in NYC, I encourage you to book NY Harbor Tours with Captain Dave. My 2 boys (9&10) and I are well versed with many of the options for sightseeing on the water in NYC. We have done sailboat tours, the media cruise, the speed boats, as well as the tours where you are elbow to elbow among 100's of strangers. This was by far our favorite experience. Dave is extremely accommodating and all about creating a magical day for you and your guests. The boat is super tidy, equipped with a galley and restroom. The captain provides a large cooler packed with ice and plenty of soft beverages. We came equipped with wine for me and candy for the kids...quite the picnic. The weather was perfect and we cruised around for two hours just enjoying the many sights and being on the water. Dave is extremely knowledgeable if you are looking for a guided tour....however we were not and he was fine with this. Dave spent a good amount of time educating my one son on navigating the water while my other son and I relaxed on very comfortable lounge chairs. It really is the best deal if you are looking for a special NY experience. Simply stated, It is a major steal. I plan to take another trip before summers end as I can't think of a better way to spend the day. read more
