My first class at New York Pilates with Heather was amazing. The space is clean, bright, and…read morebeautiful. The check in process was seamless. The staff were all helpful and polite. Heather was an excellent instructor - very clear instructions about movements, how to do each position, plenty of adjustment suggestions for both beginners and advanced Pilates goers. I really appreciated how Heather repeatedly hopped on the open reformer to show the class exactly what we should be doing. She also came around and offered individualized attention and adjusted my form twice. Heather was probably the best Pilates instructor I've ever experienced. She also gave many words of encouragement both during the workout and after. She's amazing! I only found out later that Heather is the founder of New York Pilates. Her passion comes through loud and clear! I excitedly booked my next class, which was with Sarah, and it wasn't quite at the level that Heather had set. I have a few small suggestions to possibly consider. I didn't find each position was communicated as well as in Heather's class. I was often looking up to try and see what I was supposed to be doing. There also weren't many adjustments communicated for different levels, despite the class being for all levels. I know there are many people in the class, so individual attention is not possible, but I was very clearly struggling at points and would have appreciated an accommodation suggestion. I'm a bit uncomfortable being on my knees/doing disco hips on the short box, particularly facing the straps/pegs as I find this position to be quite painful for my knees. Fortunately I recalled from heather's class that she recommended sitting cross legged for those uncomfortable on their knees, but had I not remembered the adjustment from heather's class, I'd not have known what adjustment could have been made. My final suggestion is with regards to the class purchase package options. There is an unlimited monthly option, which is an insane deal. Aside from that there are 5, 10, and 30 class package purchase options. I do wish there was a 3 class package or 1 class purchase option as I travel often for work and I am not always clear on my schedule. 5 stars for Heather's class and the overall space and 4 stars for Sarah's class. Overall I enjoyed both classes and I look forward to many more! If you have the chance to take a class with Heather then you will be in for a real treat!!!!

I had taken pilates before but no instructor has ever given me nearly the time to correct every single movement I make. In pilates, the smallest movements are the most important and Annie is an expert and observing and correcting. She's also hilarious and very encouraging so her classes are fun. She typically teaches private and semi-private and has reasonable rates for such personalized attention. Thank you, Pilannie!

This was really terrible customer service. They charged me for a class I showed up for that ran 10…read moreminutes late (to start) and my spot was taken when the room opened up. I wrote to let them know and despite that, they marked me as a no show. After ignoring my follow ups, I asked for a package refund many weeks later and was told no. This is a business I supported year round and I gave the owner no problem when she cancelled on me 2/3 times during the winter.
