Could there really be a space focused on such a specific event, and how do you even get enough pieces to make it a complete museum? However, my curiosity made me want to check out THNK1994, and I was really glad I did. My sister and I went with my nephew, and I will admit that this place may seem lame if you didn't grow up knowing about this 1994 Olympic scandal. We tried to make our excitement contagious, but he could not be bothered. However, we enjoyed seeing the tabloid covers, memorabilia, and artwork inspired by the Harding/Kerrigan kerfuffle. There was one floor each dedicated to both skaters, and it was fun talking to the owners about the inspiration behind the museum. The museum also has rotating exhibits: when I was there, they had a Real Housewives-inspired show. It's a kitschy, campy place that is definitely worth a visit if you are looking for a unique experience!

It's fairly simple to get to the museum from Manhattan via public transit. Located in Williamsburg, a short distance from the Morgan Ave subway station. It can be a bit tricky to get into the building, you may have to buzz the intercom to get access to the building, go down the stairs once you're in, and follow the signs. The museum itself is one good sized room with a separate area serving as a gift shop. The exhibition room is well organized and has a lot packed into it. Along with labeled specimens, there are signs explaining the history of skeletons in medical education, and various ways those skeletons were obtained over the ages. Fun fact, up until the mid 1980s, anyone could buy a real skeleton from your choice of several companies. The staff treats the bones with respect and provides details on why they have created the museum to house the specimens and continue to use them for educational purposes after their original purchasers have died or no longer need them. They're eager to answer questions and share their knowledge. Alas I didn't get to meet the resident museum cat, Bone Jovi, as he had decided he was finished with greeting people for the day. I was in the museum for about 2 hours or so, I like to read everything, so other people may make it through more quickly. It's good for an afternoon or morning activity. The gift shop is full of fun stuff. They have items for kids and adults ranging from toys up to modern resin "teaching" bones that medical students use today in place of real human bones. I'm going to try to entice you and not spoil the experience because it is thoughtfully curated and should be experienced live, in person. We started with one of the inspirations for Ghostbusters! Right off the bat, I was hooked as I love that movie and anything Dan Aykroyd. We learned about a Secret cave in Central Park, the iconic Dakota Building, we passed by Needle Park, where "Waiting for Mr Goodbar" was filmed in 1977 (RIP Diane Keaton!), and saw, among other sites, where James Baldwin lived and discussed art and films, like "The Exorcist" with Toni Morrison. That was a fascinating film review to read and learn about! You finish the tour where Edgar Allan Poe wrote and first published one of the most famous poems ever written, "The Raven", in The New York Evening Mirror on January 29, 1845. I had no idea I lived so near to such fascinating history! I'm grateful to B.O.T.D. for being such cool teachers! I am very much looking forward to taking additional tours with you to continue this unique journey of my complex and beloved City.

I explain to her that I have a Groupon for admission and she says "Oh sorry we are actually closed for a private event tonight. Our last exhibit closed about two hours ago." Nowhere on their website did they state they were closed today. Even so, why were the doors open? I was so upset because I read such good reviews on this place. She did not even seem apologetic at all for this news. I sucked it up, took the L and went home and got a full refund from Groupon. This place seems unprofessional, do not bother!
