Start to finish, wish I had never called them to install a fence for my daughter. 15 weeks from contract to installation, had to come back due to incredibly poor work, missing parts, gaps that her dog could fit through that my husband had to fix, no showed for the first fix and wasted my time going to meet them, left numerous pieces and parts in the yard when they left, terrible communication, rude employees. But they took off $200 from a $4600 job! So I guess that should make it all better. All around the worst company I've ever dealt with. Would give them zero stars if I could. read more

New York State Fence originally installed a privacy fence that is at a house I purchased. The fence was not installed and anchored appropriately for the property-specific soil, so I called them about repairing the fence, as the panels were still in good shape. They had not interest in reusing my panels and claimed it would be more expensive to reuse my panels than to buy new ones (which makes no sense). They also said that they install all fences posts the same (30" deep) regardless of soil conditions and would not adjust there strategy to soft soils. They came across as dishonest and with a complete lack of technical "know how" for all but the simplest installations. Avoid, avoid, avoid! read more

NY State Fence put our fence around our backyard and it is beautiful! They did an excellent job and showed up everyday until completed. They walked us through everything they were going to do ...where holes would be dug, etc and have the best product. Our fence has never faded and looks like new still today. I had a gate that needed the chain link fencing replaced. I called twice and they quoted me $50 each time and said it could be redone in an hour while I waited. I hired someone to bring the gate to NY State Fence. He arrived with the gate and was told something completely different. They said he had to leave it for a week. I got back on the phone with them and told them what I had been told twice! They agreed to fix it while he waited but then charged me $75. I don't like dealing with dishonest people and I wouldn't call them for anything again. read more

Let's start with the quote... the employee they send out for the quote can not even give you a quote and we received ours about a week after he came. You would think for efficiency they would have a person who can measure and quote a price; especially on a job that required no custom gate or anything special, just straight chain link. Fast forward 8 weeks...Received a call at 3:00pm stating that they would be doing our install the next day and that somebody had to be home at noon(8 hour notice) with no prior contact about the install. This was not a window of 12-2 or anything like that. They stated they would be there at noon and we only had to be there for about 15 minutes. This being the case I agreed to use my lunch break to drive home so somebody could be there. I was home from 11:45-12:30 and nobody showed up. I called the office and was told the installer was running late and would be there in a few minutes. At 12:45 I called again and informed them he still was not there. Susan the scheduler told me he was now 15 mins away. At this point I explained to her that I was losing pay from my job waiting around and that it was unacceptable. had to call them since I did not receive a call that they were running late which you would assume is customer service 101. I then let them know if he was not there at 1 I would be going back to work. Susan replied "I'll let the installer know". At 1:30 the installer called my fiancé, said he got stuck in traffic in Webster and asked her to explain exactly what he was supposed to be doing(I thought that was the purpose of the quoter drawing a detailed description of where the fence was going). She explained it to him and he started the job(1hr 30 mins late). At 3:00 he called her and told her he did not have enough material and he would have to come back in the morning. I still don't understand how you run out of material when you have exact dimensions for all the jobs? We live less than 10 minutes away from their address. The fact that he couldn't go get the material and finish that day was also bad customer service. We received our invoice via email and politely responded that we needed to talk to someone in management before we paid in full. Susan the scheduler left us a voicemail which was extremely rude and unprofessional(umm was every other word out of he mouth as she rambled on). Fast forward 2 months... Accounts payable contacted us and again we reiterated our request to speak with management. She apologized for what happened and told us she would have somebody contact us. The owner of the company contacted us and left a voicemail. When we called him back, he was extremely rude and told us" Well you got your fence didn't you?". No apology. No customer service at all. If you're on the fence about who to go to for a fence install I hope you heed my warning: STAY FAR AWAY FROM NEW YORK STATE FENCE ! I know a fence is usually a one-time only purchase and thank goodness because this company would never get any repeat customers. I paid in full for my fence in April 30 and today is June 18 and I am still waiting for installation. Come to think of it I am still waiting for someone in the office to even follow up with me to let me know when it will be done. I was told the week of June 4 - only to be told there was a delay due to rain (1 day put you that far behind?). Last week I heard nothing from them and when my father called this morning he was told "to call back when he was in a better mood because they did not have time to deal with people like him". While if they don't have time to speak to people who have paid IN FULL for their services or even pick up the phone or send an email to give an update on the time line that what do they do all day. The women in the office have been nothing but rude ever time I have called. I have spoken to two different women and each was equally as nasty. I wish the owner would hear the way they speak to people. I doubt that would be acceptable. Maybe (hint, hint) he should check their emails because even the tone in the emails if awful. read more

I am very happy with my 5' high chain link fence and my 6' high wood board fence. They help me keep in my 2 german short hair pointers.

I cannot say enough about the customer service and installation of my fence. Kim was great with working with me to set up a quick accomodating date for installation, and Marcus and his partner were wonderful, professional, and took the time to complete the job just as I wanted. My husband and I are very happy with New York State Fence. They came out to do an estimate in a timely fashion, and gave us very useful tips. Thoroughly disappointed in the customer service received from NYS Fence. I wish my fiance and I had listed to the other reviews that are listed online, because they were all right. The office staff and owner himself is rude and does not care about the bottom line - his customers. Scheduler gave us a time of installation and was 2 hours late. I had to call the office twice to find out where they were as we were required to be home at the time of installation. When they finally arrived, they didn't have enough materials to finish the job, even though they took exact measurements beforehand. When I expressed my experience with the front office, they were rude and never apologized and brushed me off when I asked to speak to a manager. It took over a month for someone to get back to me. When the owner finally called me and I explained the situation again, all he said was "well, you got your fence didn't you?." He was rude, become loud and argumentative and did not care to hear about anything I had to say. Needless to say, this company was disrespectful, unprofessional, and provided horrible customer service. I would not recommend them to anyone who expects honesty and professionalism from a company that you are paying thousands of dollars to. read more

This is the most unprofessional company I have ever worked with ever and I am so disappointed we chose to go with them for our fence. We were quoted an estimate time, with some leeway due to weather, etc., for when our fence would be installed. The process began about a month late at which point my husband had to work from home to meet with them. They arrived late, told us it would take three days to complete, and then left early. The next two days they didn't come because of the weather. They finished putting up the posts on the second day they came, leading us to believe it would only take one or two days to put up the actual fencing. They didn't come back to do it until a week later due to weather again. We wanted the fence to back up to the thick bushes/wood piles in our backyard so our dogs couldn't get out. We were assured the dogs would not be able to. The fence itself was done nicely, but they left a four foot gap at the back of the yard which not only our dogs can get out of, but myself as well if I wanted. This defeats the entire purpose of the fence for us. Every time we call, we are kind and patient. When we do actual get to talk to someone (you can't leave a message if you call after 5) they don't relay our messages to the appropriate people in time or seem to care. By this point, it is a month after our fence was supposed to be finished. Scheduling them to come take a look at the issue has been a nightmare. They have told us numerous times they would come look at it to make sure the dogs couldn't get out and have not, causing us to be home from work for 3 days to be here when they sometimes don't even show. Finally they came out to look at the issue but because they're viewing our fence contract as complete, they are saying it will cost $250 extra to fix the gap.They also stated that if we had informed them of this issue while they were still on the job it would have been free...which we had. I have not had a more unprofessional, horrible experience with a company ever. We are understanding of natural delays due to weather, supplies, etc. but this is ridiculous. It seems like this company struggles from extreme miscommunication between their salesman, coordinators, and the actual build crew, resulting in a unfinished job. We are very displeased. read more
